Hello everyone,

I have received fantastic feedback so far, and most of it has been extremely positive. Users have expressed their satisfaction, saying things like "This is amazing, thanks!" or "I love it, it's made my beats come to life." However, I have also received some constructive criticism from individuals who have asked questions like "Where are the reverb FX from your old template?" I find this type of feedback particularly valuable as it helps me identify areas for improvement in my next update. While positive reviews are wonderful and bring me joy, I also appreciate honest feedback. Even if your feedback is still "I love it, I can't imagine any changes really," I will welcome it because it means the Template is working as intended. Your input is important to me, and I'm open to any suggestions you may have.

I am already considering bringing back more reverb effects; however, the main issue with reverb is that it can create a messy effect and muddy up the mix. This is something I am actively avoiding because I want the template to produce usable sounds across various scenarios. I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter, so please feel free to leave your comments below or participate in the Patreon poll. Your feedback is valuable to me.

All the best,

Matt

Will try to get my hands on the template tonight and mess around with it a little bit and give you some feedback Matt I’ve just been super busy bro. considering most of what I do is Jungle DB and Ambient. I do particularly like reverb and wash fx. However, I haven’t gotten a chance to mess around with any of the new affects that you’ve put on the template and I’m excited to see what it’s all got to offer for my genre. Thanks again for all the hard work you put into the stuff man.

Is it possible to have the template set up so u can also use an external fx unit? If so that would be a cool addition. Either way love all the iterations of it you’ve put out

This might be a stretch, but I'd love to get your work on a master-track only effects. Even if it's only one part. Or, maybe different parts to change up the possible effects. It's counter to how you set up and play, but I think it would be a good experiment on constraints. Basically, how would EZbot make an effect template if he were utilizing just the OT for performance?

nick

this temp is amazing! Jamming with my brother with it, and we just had the most fun ever! Glitch FX at 1/2 sounds amazing

Loving the new template, it’s like you said made things come alive! Especially all the risers are great, timing them on 16 bars can be hard though, so I’m curious about the 8 bar version. What’s the rationale behind that? Making timing easier? Also I’m curious behind the new track layout, without a master track I find myself more often tuning volumes on track 3 and 7 to get levels right. Is there an immediate way to gain stage master or is doing it on both AB and CD tracks correct?

ezbot

To adjust the output volume, you can make the necessary changes in the mixer section. As for the current state of the template, it should already be well gainstaged. However, if you feel the need to make adjustments, the mixer section would be the appropriate place to do so. If you want to adjust the volume coming in you should do that on the gear imo and avoid adjusting volumes in the template tracks. Regarding the 8 bar version, it is important to note that you wouldn't necessarily record in 8 bars; instead, you would record in 4 bars. The 8 bar version is specifically designed for FX build-ups, which are often used in genres like techno. The extended length allows for more gradual and impactful build-ups, enhancing the overall experience in such genres.

Oh yes... "...the main issue with reverb is that it can create a messy effect and muddy up the mix..." Never been more Saintly words spoken. Always use at max 5 to 7%, or just it as an extreme effect for breaks or a soft finale. Though the 8 bar version would be interesting, I at least would welcome an option with 1 or 2 tracks for OT samples... I've tried it with one of your older templates, one before you posted the one with the OT sample tracks (I forget the version number), though that one kinda confused me with the behaviour of the Scene slider... and in the end I was glad you came out with with this Ultimate version that puts the Master track to rest, since I've been trying to insert a couple of 1010music boxes, a Lemondrop and a Blackbox , and a Syntakt into the cue/A-B loop... sure, overkill... This machine is already overclocking my neurons, but there's got to be a way of of getting a couple of sample tracks without sacrificing the selective A/B and C/D loopers you set up on Scenes 14 and 15, or is this just not realistic?

Love it and finding the build ups epic and I want the 8 bar looper to make the build ups more epicer… I like the flex track I only need one to really, not sure what you loose with flex tracks . I personally use 16 when making pattern changes. … question do you try and quickly flick back the slider right on the 16 before the one?

ezbot

The FLEX tracks are the loopers, so you lose scene 16 if you take them away. Yes you want to crossfade quickly. I do not plan to make the template record 8 bar loops because it records in real time meaning the loop would be a total of 16 bars. 8 recording and 8 playing back, seems like too much time to wait imo. The FX build ups being 8 bars is different as they are immediate and I think that is useful.

ezbot

I will be making a version of the new template for folks who want the free tracks for sampling, look out for that :)

ezbot

I have a template like that called the Octatrack Solo Template, search for it here on Patreon, it will pop up.

paperplain89

I like the versatility of newer effects and rarely use the verb-heavy ones. Although I haven’t memorized which ones only require a only subtle cross fade. I don’t think we can’t port exactly the FX from the OG template (due to the master channel), but wouldn’t it be possible to have another set of 64 effects on the next Bank for ppl that want other variations?

ezbot

All the effects are on all parts across all banks and patterns, so unfortunately that is not possible. I tried that in previous templates but itw as just confusing for people to have dif fx on dif banks. I dont blame them. The master track fx are actually much easier on this template and better sounding. Which did you like?

Soumajit Ghosh

Love the versatility of this template and the sonic palette it offers. However, like you I use the Octatrack as a performance mixer as well as Twin decks. Your earlier template had 2 free tracks which allowed using 2 tracks (one on each side) as a Deck to play static external tracks. The current template heavily uses neighbour machines which occupies all the tracks. Can you plan for a template which allows Live looping, Twin Decks for DJing and keep the best space, bit crush, delay FX in the Octatrack.

ezbot

I'll look into this further. :)

Etienne Stehelin

I'd like to jump on this one +1. Although I am new to this whole scene so if I am missing something, please let me know. I would like to have pretty much the ultimate FX template but more for jamming with loops that I have sampled already (like from records or from static samples) and less reliant on external gear. Should I just take the time to convert track 1 & 5 into static machine across all the parts? Am I doing it wrong? You suggested CUEing tracks 4 & 8 back through the inputs, but I want to use the inputs for sampling....... ugggh so many choices......

Etienne Stehelin

@soumajit which template was that "template had 2 free tracks which allowed using 2 tracks (one on each side) as a Deck"?

ezbot

Great feedback! Here's the thing, we will always have to CUE the audio and loop it back if we want the complex FX chains that I am using. It's just not possible on the OT without it :/
