Elektron Talk ep. 41 Jungle (Patreon)
Content
In today's exciting episode of Elektron Talk, we're journeying deep into the heart of the Jungle. Yes, a live action trip to the rainforest via your Digitakt.
For those unfamiliar with Jungle, it's a riveting blend of electronic music that emerged in the '90s. It's characterized by breakbeats with very fast, intricate rhythms, and heavy basslines derived from reggae and dub. It forms the cornerstone of modern Drum 'n Bass and continues to captivate listeners with its sonic complexity and energy.
Now, back to our episode. I will be dissecting a Jungle track I've recently composed that leans heavily on the Digitakt. I added a second pattern to the originally one pattern song, let me know how you like it - maybe it sucks, I don't know!
Additionally, we're going to explore chopping breaks on the Digitakt. It's a technique that allows you to slice a loop into smaller segments or "breaks," which can then be rearranged, looped, or processed further to create entirely new rhythms.
See you in the episode!
All the best,
Matt
