I loooove Jerry Reed! I'm just working on 'The Claw' so this sounds very familiar :-)

Hi Alex, nothing related to your vid. I want to thank you for making me discover Adam Levy. I just watched an interview on the pedal show, I love the guy and his playing, I have to dive in his music now. So related to B Frisell and J Lage in different ways I think. The tele, the Collins and more. Thank you again. And I’m working on your licks, won’t leave you for Adam don’t worry 😉

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks for the comment buddy, really glad you're getting into Adam's playing, I agree about the similarities to Frisell and Lage too.. I believe part of that is down to a huge influence of Jim Hall and John Scofield on their playing. Funnily enough, I have an interview with Adam coming soon. He interviewed me for his Patreon last year, and now I'm going to interview him, so do keep an eye out for that! :)

Great to hear ! I can’t wait ! About Scofield, that’s funny, I heared him somewhere too, but couldn’t put it in words. I thought maybe I was just becoming a jazz snob seeing Sco everywhere as I love him so much 😂 you saved me on this one…

Kevin Chapa

Awesome lick Alex! Thanks for this one. So much in there. Excited to give this a go! Thanks again for all your hard work!

Johan

Any Jerry Reed suggested listening? It’s odd, I have never considered myself a fan of country. Yet I love country licks. So perhaps it is just a lack of exposure to the good stuff.

Alex Farran Guitar

My pleasure Kevin, glad you liked it! A fun one that’s so easy to apply once you get it in the muscle memory! 👌🏻

Wayne America

Cool! keep the double stops coming please.

Joseph Corso

elevation brother elevation...different player then 3 months ago much appreciated ...

If that link breaks on you, here's a shorter version; https://tinyurl.com/fh98cuhn Songs from Jerry's 1967 album are there. Don't look for thoughtful lyrics or self introspection. Just some great guitar pickin' . 8)

> lack of exposure to the good stuff. Johan - if you haven't heard the classic 60's recordings by Merle Haggard and Buck Owens, known as the "Bakersfield Sound", they always have great guitar parts. Also the 80's Desert Rose Band with John Jorgenson on guitar, the 80's Dwight Yoakam records with Pete Anderson on guitar, and any early Vince Gill. Albert Lee on Emmy Lou Harris recordings too. Looking up Roy Clark before the Hee Haw TV show, the "Anacostia Delta" live DVD, and Danny Gatton's brief career will keep you busy. Have fun!

Johan

Thanks for the suggestions.

Johan

Thanks. Oddly I never think to look to YouTube for just music.

Todd Grubb

Much thanks for your insight into the nature of practice. Excellent motivation to keep my guitar close, tune up and play. Fantastic riff. Hope to have it recorded into my muscle memory going forward very soon.

Alex Farran Guitar

So glad to hear that Todd, thanks for the comment my friend 🙏🏻

Gert De Groof

I missed it the first time but that insight “play something consistently right four times in a row to start getting it into your muscle memory” is actually a very thoughtful tip.

Alex Farran Guitar

I'm glad that resonated with you Gert.. it's a crucial step in learning anything. Slow, accurate repetition.
