Today we learn a chord melody arrangement of one of the oldest, and longest enduring jazz standards, "After You've Gone".

Choc full of catchy and "poppy" melodic tricks.. you'd be forgiven for thinking it had been written by a certain McCartney/Lennon duo!

We put our chord inversions and triads to work with this arrangement. Starting with a rubato section before ramping up the tempo and getting those fingers dancing! Then we drop back to a half time triplet feel to close out. I've really thrown everything at this one! ;)

*For my Patreon members, this also comes with a Part 2; Chordal accompaniment lesson!

Just fantastic you are on fire man!

I like that you are posting these Jazz standards. I enjoyed playing this piece today. So far, we have your better arrangements of Georgia on your mind, Stardust, this one, my funny valentine, chords for Autumn leaves. Have I missed any covered already?

Hi Alex, You have a Blues and Soul collection tile with two posts in it. Is it possible to update its content so it contains more like the full set posted so far for these two styles.

Alex Farran Guitar

Hi Wayne, thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate that. I've just added all of my blues/soul lessons to the "Blues and Soul" collection. As this library of lessons grows and grows, I'm sure I'll eventually have collections for specific sub-genres also, ie; Delta Blues, Chicago Blues, Jazz Blues etc

Many thanks for updating Blues and Soul. Looking at the set, I must have glossed over the Freddie King piece. Just printed it out. To be honest, I just discovered him and have been listening to his Let's Hideaway album. Its amazing - there is no filler material on the whole album. On your point, it must be hard for your to organise in collections...there seems to be a lot of overlap.

I'll See You in My Dreams is another great lesson.
