Such a perfect blend of theory, practicality and fun. Love it Alex, a lot of layers to dive into. Thanks and take care!

Hey Alex, I am focusing on this style so thank you for posting this. I started going through it already - there is a whole lot here to study. You mention tone at the start of the video. In this context, I now have a Fender Mustang GTX modelling amp. So I am running a Danelectro into a '59 Bassman with volume cranked and my EQ is scooped out midrange. Post-amp, I have by a treble booster then bit of large hall reverb. Just experimenting with the amp here to emulate your tone. If you hwere using a modelling amp, would you have a similar signal chain?

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks Wayne, glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🏻 I would probably try first off just cranking the volume on the “Bassman” to get that crunch (obviously being the master volume down so you don’t blow the windows out! 😜), and I would keep the mids in there, I think that spike around 1k is so crucial for this tone and feel. Only if you feel the drive is lacking would I then add a treble booster personally

Hi Alex, this is amazing, fantastic lesson thank you! I am having problems opening the zip file on a pc -- I wonder whether it's because of the "" in the file names but it might just be me!

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks for the heads up Chris, I’ve just changed the file names to see if that helps. Could you give the download another go for me? Thanks buddy 🙏🏻

Rob Bright

I just have to say, Alex, these lessons are so freakin’ awesome!!! Your attention to the little details and the way you describe each transition from chord to chord is a real treasure trove of Gold!!!! Thank you for what you do, Brother!!!!!

Michael Willis

BTW….I’m 61 years “young” and learning how to play blues…so much appreciate the time, effort and guideposts to great past players that you highlight. I love learning a vocabulary that has deep connection to prior generations, players who embraced and expanded it. Thank you for paying homage to those who made this music so timeless, classic and deeply soulful!!!

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you Michael, that means a lot! And sorry I didn't pick up your comment til just now!
