The Patreon exclusive chord lesson for "Bryant's Bounce".. full of useful info regarding turnarounds and adding chord movement via inversions etc.. so definitely worthy of studying even outside of the context of this particular tune.

The materials attached are the same ones from the main post below.. I've simply also included them here for easy finding.

Bryant's Bounce by Jimmy Bryant - chord accompaniment lesson (Patreon exclusive)

In this Patreon exclusive part 2 of our "Bryant's Bounce" study, we learn the chordal accompaniment as seen in my performance of this piece. Some really nice moves and voicings to dig into here. Definitely something I would recommend working through. I always feel that it's so important to know both the lead and the rhythm work for any tune you learn. Remember that even as a lead guitarist, your job 80% of the time is to be a second rhythm player! Time stamps; 00:00 - The intro 00:53 - A section 02:31 - Turnaround & Tritone talk! 03:20 - A2 04:01 - B section (“Rhythm Changes” bridge) 04:41 - Fancy chord runs and embellishments! 07:59 - Final A section 09:11 - Rhythm Feel

Hey Alex great lesson (probably 5-8 lessons in there) and would love to get you insight how you train your right hand technique to get the rhythm smooth yet snappy and relaxed I gotta think it is vital part of making it swing. I’m struggling with the strumming hand?

Thanks Mark, glad you enjoyed these lessons! Indeed.. a lot of material covered in these 2 videos alone! You're right.. the secret to proper swing rhythm technique is in keeping the wrist loose or "broken"

Alex Farran Guitar

P.S: Have you seen my Douce Ambiance and Minor Swing videos? I go into a bit of detail about the strumming technique in those.. also I go into a lot of detail, with close ups in my first Q&A that I did last summer.

What make is the guitar?I know you mentioned it in the video just wanted the spelling. Thanks

I just love this swing style chord stuff! This morning I bought myself a Cigano GJ-10 for 300€ used and I’m stoked (ok, nothing compared to your new Novo 🤤) Plays lovely. So more of this and some Django up next please! (Currently working on Manoir de mes rêves). Take care Alex.

Alex Farran Guitar

That’s awesome news buddy! Hard to go wrong with a selmer type of guitar.. even the affordable ones have that unique sound! 👌🏻 Plenty more Django to come my friend!

Alex Farran Guitar

Hey buddy, the gold one in the performance is a “Fulvia” model by Karl Longbottom guitars here in the UK. The one I was using in the teaching portion of the lesson is a “Miris” by Novo guitars made in Nashville 👍🏻

Trever Swearingen

Love that you take so much time with chords and harmony, I think that's what's missing in a lot of guitar instruction. I feel like I get more value from that aspect of your lessons than from leads and melody (although they are much appreciated too!)

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you Trever! Really glad you feel that way! Indeed.. understanding harmony is the bigger picture behind all of this stuff 👌🏻

James Quinn

hi I’m new to this site can someone help me out trying to print out chords but not sure how to do it

Alex Farran Guitar

Hi James, hopefully you saw my response to your private message asking the same question? Just to reiterate.. every file I post is printable, you just have to open it on your device (laptop, desktop, iPhone, iPad etc) and go to the options menu and select “print”. If you have a wireless printer it’s even easier than that. Which device are you using buddy?

James Quinn

Having a hard time to trying print off chords can you watch the lesson and print it off?

Randy Yount

Loving the chord practice on this one. Just this alone is a lot of fun to learn.

Q: re your Novo Jazz Master. Do you like the floating bridge, that Leo Fender invented in 58', or do you prefer the more stable Stratocaster tremelo? BTW for your fans that don't know it, Leo Fender never copyrighted his designs specifically because he wanted imitators to improve on his original design. A great man!

Alex Farran Guitar

I much prefer the jazz master tremolo.. stays in tune better than the traditional 6 screw Strat trem and is more of a subtle, natural, floaty vibrato effect. Love it! Leo himself considered the jazz master trem to be a big upgrade on the Stratocaster trem, and I'd have to agree!

Alex Farran Guitar

Absolutely agreed Randy, I love accompanying for this tune just as much as playing the lead!

Always wanted to learn this style of guitar! Thank you!
