If you can spare a moment, please do watch this new video, as although it's simply a medley of my two Christmas chord melodies from last year, it contains a short tribute to my boy Louis and a few heart-felt words from yours truly.

I genuinely am so grateful for all of your kinds words and constant support... this year went from my best to my worst in the blink of an eye and I'm not sure what I'd have done without this community to keep me on my toes. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart. 🙏🏻🧡

These pieces are fairly tricky, so I'd recommend throwing them into your daily practice routine now so that they're ready in time for Christmas Day! ;)

Thanks, Alex! I've started working on "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas" a week or so ago. Well, chances are I won't get it done before 25th as it's pretty challenging for sure. But it's well worth it! Thanks again! Hope you are staying focused on positive things and that holidays season will bring you lots of good memories. Just know that we all here love and support you! 🤗

Such a touching tribute to little Louis. We feel your pain and loss. I know I’m not alone in saying we are a community here to support each other, and we care deeply. Thank you for all you do and the beautiful music you bring to us. I’m excited to learn these, great timing to revisit them! All the best! 💫🕯️❤️

Beautiful arrangements, Ted Greene was something else.

My good friends, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the non-Christians. It is time to slow down and celebrate all the gifts that we have received in 2024 (including your lessons!) and to make a heartful tribute to all the good memories (including Louis!) that have made us better persons, sharing the same spaceless and timeless infinite Love (for the lack of a better word; you can also call it God or other words...it does not really matter the name). These two beautiful melodies are great portals to such infinite Love...Happy 2025!

Alex just to say Happy Xmas to you and yours and hope it's a great one. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your community I so enjoy learning on our never ending guitar journey. As someone who personally doesn't do bereavement very well I totally empathise with your loss it is a pain impossible to describe with mere words. Thanks for everything Cheers

My condolences on the loss of your beloved family member Louis. Your video is a touching tribute to what was clearly your cherished friend and companion. Lovely arrangements of these classic songs. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.

Mike Schaefer

Thanks for the many great lessons this year. Regarding Louis, Mark Twain observed that "Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in." Seventy years of experience with cats has convinced me that the same holds true for them.

Roy M

Trying to find the right words ... Beautiful just doesn't seem to do it justice. The heartfelt emotion just shines through. so, have yourself a merry little Christmas and wishing you the very best new year.

Benny A

Beautiful music and lovely words, Alex. It’s almost ironic that a joyous time like Christmas also brings sadness to us in remembering what we’ve lost. I hope you manage to have a merry little Christmas still. Now, I feel a bit flippant moving onto to technical questions… but wow these chord voicings make me feel like a complete beginner. Reminds me of many years ago when it took me what felt like several minutes just to from an open C chord. I suppose I just need to put the hours in, but right now it feels impossible. Any suggestions for other lessons of yours which might be a friendlier entry into complex chords?

Tim C.

Our lives offer many opportunties to love, live and embrace not only what we have in current times but also in our past, and future. I wish you the best in all times and your contributions through your work and sharing of personal experience speaks volumes. I love the channel and the content ! Best in the new year !

David Lemon

Thank you for sharing this tribute to Louis, Alex. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.

Ian Cowan

Perfect. Love chord melody and Christmas time is the season of chord melody. Quite challenging this one... but nailing couple bars at a time before moving on... Thoughts with you this Christmas with the passing of Louis.

Matt L

I'm rounding the final few bars of Ted's beautiful arrangement. I'm hoping my fingers make it thru my family performance on Christmas Eve. This one has been a workout but I came away with so many awesome bits. Thanks for the great lesson material and my condolences on the loss of your beloved pet. Merry Christmas to you.

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you for the comment Chris, I really appreciate it 🙏🏻🧡

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you for the kind words Benny, I appreciate that. And yes, that’s true, any new chord will take a ton of time and repetition to become a comfortable and truly usable part of your muscle memory. I don’t tend to rank chords by difficulty as such, but a good lesson that looks at building on open chords is the one titled “Americana open chord magic”.. pop that into the search bar of my Patreon feed and give it a go! 👍🏻

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you so much Tim, I like that way of thinking about things. Much appreciated 🙏🏻🧡

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you Ian, I appreciate that. 🙏🏻🧡 Yes, you’ve got the right approach.. just take a couple of chords at a time and repeat them until they’re sounding smooth and working their way into your muscle memory 👍🏻

Alex Farran Guitar

Nice work Matt! I’m glad it’s all coming together! Thanks for the kind words re; Louis, I do appreciate it 🙏🏻🧡
