The least glamorous post you'll ever see on my Patreon.. but a useful one nonetheless!

I've attached my own blank sheets below for making your own Tabs, Chord Boxes and perhaps most importantly; Chord Charts.

I'd recommend having a few of these printed out and with you in the practice room.

Now I'm sure you're reading my mind. First you start the year with an accessible version of my favourite jazz standard - All of Me - and now this. I spent literally hours on Saturday tabbing out David Gilmour's variations in Breathe, and the result is a freehand mess I won't be able to make a head or tail of in a few weeks from now. Thank you!

David Lemon

Very helpful - thanks, Alex!

Haha great timing! And good work on the transcribing.. such a useful thing to do at least once per week!

Alex Farran Guitar

no worries Nick, yes it can be tricky can't it? I spent many years making small adjustments to these sheets so that I could fit everything I wanted in there.

Sebus

Thank you very much! It will be very helpful.

What program are you using. I can't open a .tif file. I am using android but I will try on Win 11 and see if Office will open it :)

Alex Farran Guitar

Hey George, tif image files should open in most things. Let me know if you get it figured out, and if not I'll try and convert them to png or jpg.

George Cole

I am away from my laptop when I get back I'll let you know. I did look it up and office is suppose to open them :)

Oh man, Alex, Thank YOU! I have been doing handwritten charts and have a mess of notes that I can barely decipher...this is a huge time savor and will help so much with my tunes I am working on both inside and outside the Farran Universe.

Alex Farran Guitar

That’s great to hear Marty! Love that you’re putting the pen to the paper 👌🏻

Ok cool printing sheets now with the sublime version of “you don’t love me” (no, no, no) by Dawn Penn an absolute masterpiece of cool

MarkF

Best to play the “you don’t love me” (no no no) extended mix by Dawn Penn - sorry to indulge my current listening on this thread

Jon Parker

Thanks , I need these !

The unlimited potential of a blank page should never be overlooked. Thank you for the opportunity to create 😁

Thanks for the music sheets Alex. Recently I've started using chord sheets in a new way (for me) based on an 80s book called Styles For The Studio. Instead of marking the chord diagram with dots you notate musical lines by writing the ordinal number of the note in the musical line 1,2,3,4,5... on the chord sheet. You can uses multiple chord diagrams per lick to avoid crowding too. You also mark where the root lives on string 6,5 or 4 to picture the line relative to the root. It's really helping me come to terms with a fusion course I am taking. This helps me reuse a line over different chords (of same quality) too since I learn the line relative to the R6,R5 or R4 root and not fret numbers. It was a light-bulb moment for me. I'm hyped about it so I thought I'd share. Pushing 70 and still learning. :)
