Wonderful ! Been waiting for this one - my winter homework. See you in the Spring ! Thanks Alex !

scott bookman

That was good fun...I love what you do over the Bm and Am at one point..the finger stretchy bit , i first saw Robin Nolan do that and had him show me it.Great tasty solo and lesson as always Alex.

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks Scott, glad you enjoyed it! Ah nice, yes I think of that as "doing the Barney Kessel" (Cry Me a River intro) 👌🏻

Joel Powell

So happy to see this one show up - I learned more useful technique in 10 minutes of this video than hours off searching before. Well done Alex! Thank you!

Ian Cowan

That's just what I needed for a night in with the missus out... Time to plug in.

Nicholas Golden

This is absolutely incredible. I'm speechless.

Rob Bright

Great lesson. So tasty👍

Daghan

Great lesson as always

Gert De Groof

My god…that was an intense analyzing note by note Sunday morning! Just got through it, now I only need to practice it…😅

Alex Farran Guitar

Haha wow, good work my friend! Kudos to you for doing it on a Sunday morning too! Will look forward to seeing a video of you playing this in the future ;)

David Lockwood

Great lesson Alex. Brilliant explanation of concepts and tons of practical advice. Thank you

Marinho Del Santo

Thank you, Alex!!! Yes...for me, a delightful piece of cake for Sunday's sunny morning. There is a lot here...everything is well explained and contextualized, as used. A lot to practice...purposely. A great week to all :)

Tony Davies

Love it, love it, love it....... Thank you ❤️

MarkF

Although I play acoustic guitars mostly there is absolutely a massive amount of information that relates to any type of guitar playing so thoroughly thought out it’s unbelievable value-thanks again Alex!

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you my friend, I'm really glad you enjoyed it so much! Have fun! 🤩

Just been looking feel storming rhythm lesson, and it doesn't seem to be on here - but it is on YouTube.

Sander Geerdink

Very cool, I always like how Alex references all these different guitarists in one single lesson, from Peter Green, Django to Bill Frisell. Im definitely stealing that 'Cry me a river' Barney Kessel lick over the minor chords.

Ian Quittner

Growing up Stormy Monday (Allman Bros. Filmore) was every Florida kids blues anthem. I have to say your solo is brilliant. I love the use of slides, hammer on slides, pull off slides.. in places I never dreamed about sliding. You have to give us a week or two to absorb this one.

Gert De Groof

Hey Alex, about your tone chasing and setting on the ox: I would be interested in some talk about that. Thing is, I’m just going crazy with all the options out there and have a real hard time deciding on what gear would be a good choice. I play at home in the living room, kids and wife running around screaming, so you can understand I need headphones 😂. I have been using a Yamaha THR which has and still serves me very well and is just so very practical, and honestly sounds pretty good…until you put it next to a tube amp. I also have a small 5W Supro, but even that is too loud for my situation. And I’ve been wanting some kind of Princeton for a long while as well, but that would be overkill. So, to make a long story a little shorter, I just bought a Two notes Captor X, which as I understand it, will make it possible to use my tube amp with headphones. As it is quite similar to the Ox, I would very well be interested in the thoughts and expertise of someone like you, so yeah, all that, just to say +1 vote for that Ox box tone talk 😅. Take care.

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you Sander, I’m glad you like the the various little influences I throw in to my solos and yes, that cry me a river lick is so nice 👌🏻

Alex Farran Guitar

Got it Gert, I'll definitely do an OxBox video.. I'll try and film it this week in fact. Sounds like you have a great setup there by the way! ;)

Rick D

Excellent as always, thank you! And I'll +1 Ox conversation (though you heard from me earlier so don't double count :-). The differences between rigs are so significant, I'm very interested to hear if you've dialed in one that you use all the time, or find yourself changing for different situations. (And if a video was too much work, even a few bullet points would be very appreciated!)

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks Rick, I'm glad you enjoyed it! The Ox Box rig video is coming soon for sure, just making sure it looks right re; screen recording and cursor tracking etc, but I'm eager to share some insights into my rig settings as I find that there does need to be a fair amount of tweaking in order to make things sound "legit".

Michael Friedman

I know a couple people who will be curious about that 😉

Stephan Brombach

Hi Alex, I just became a patreon. Everything that’s on YouTube but the rhythm lesson to stormy Monday seems to be here. Can you help me with the missing material? It only appears when clicking on the smogfalls link as an separate purchase. Thanks in advance!

Hi Alex, enforced period at home got me studying this for days. A priceless lesson, the best yet. Good lad.

jonjon 0815

love this solo, it´s so inspiring!

Great lesson on a beautiful song

FM

Hi…I just joined your channel specifically for this lesson! In the zip file download, im only seeing the blues lead tab…..am I missing something? I was hoping and expecting notation for the cord voicing to the song. Please advise. Great lesson but I am not familiar with the grips right from the get go. Thank you.

Alex Farran Guitar

Hi buddy, thanks for being here! The zip file contains the full lead study featured in this video lesson.. all four pages of that mammoth piece!.. with chord names above the score. If it's the chord study you're after, you can find that by searching for "Stormy Monday chord study" :)

John Canton

Great Class. infect, It's the best Class I have ever had on Guitar. Thanks Alex. Oh and I made it through. You are a great teacher and Guitar Player. Your solo on this lesson is excellent.

steve wardwell

I've struggled with this song, well more or less wrestled with how to play the solo; for a long time. I like the idea of playing the G major (Ionian) scale over it, then adjusting my starting note in that G scale framework to the next chord key - C 9, beginning the run on the C ( C Lydian?). I'm trying to play the entire solo (at least 12 bars) in one region of the fretboard. It's all just intervals and depends on the note you start on?

steve wardwell

think/does that approach work? Thanks so much - ps i didn't realize return key sent comment. Steve
