So this little beauty arrived from Nashville late last week after just 2 days in transit! It's immediately apparent just how high quality the build of this telecaster is, from the materials to the setup, it's flawless! This Mojotone 59 PAF style neck pickup is all kinds of syrupy smooth!

Here's the first thing I recorded with it.. just jamming over the changes to "All of Me", plugged into the Lazy J20 with a splash of reverb courtesy of a Strymon Flint pedal. At the halfway point I kick on a Klon for a very subtle gain and mids boost.

Thinking I better get on with learning some Ed Bickert now I have this guitar! ;)

Lovely. Almost as nice as my Vintera 50’s modified😁

Rob Brazier

Sounds amazing! That neck pickup is surprisingly clear and snappy, in a very good way—not sure I’d even know it was a humbucker if I wasn’t looking.

Roel Meeus

I was just thinking : when is this Ed Bickert-lesson scheduled ;-) No excuses now. Beautiful purchase, enjoy!

David Lockwood

Fabulous smooth, clean, sophisticated sound. Lovely playing Wow!!

scott bookman

Smooth as silk...Dan definitely put that guitar in the right hands !

Nelson Kerr

Sounds great right out of the gate. Congratulations on the new edition. Cheers brother! 🥃🎶😎

Thought I was in a smokey jazz bar having a cocktail for a minute...nope still at work

Philip R

Sweeeeet!.... Yup, time for you to start learning some Ed Bickert alright... Can't wait!

David Lemon

Welcome to the Dano club, Alex!

MarkF

Actually there was Lenny Breau too who is very like you Alex blending and playing all styles of music and some on a tele I believe if my ears serve me right. So Ed and Lenny vibes and lessons!!

Arthur

I've never heard a Tele sound like that! Awsome!

Arthur

Now the solo transcription please :)

Ron Culbertson

It’s not the arrows it’s the Indian.

Timothy Daniels

I’m from Toronto and Ed Bickert was right in the middle of everything four decades. This reminds me of Ed. Very sweet!

MarkF

There also is another Toronto jazz guitar player Lorne Lofsky (played with Ed Bickert and Oscar Peterson) and a teacher who adored Bickert (I did some lessons with Lorne ) who played a strat/tele-something in the water up here I guess.

Rick

sweet

Alex Farran Guitar

Haha damn!.. I knew I was just making more work for myself! 😅🤪

John Petitt

Wonderful playing and tone.

James

Watched these the wrong way round - just back from the bridge pup vid. What a beautiful sounding guitar/amp. Surprised how very ‘tele’ it is despite the humbuckers. Nice hands as always too.

Hi Alex, very nice guitar indeed, I am curious which type of strings do you use on this tele?

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you Alain! I'm not actually sure what the strings are, I just know that they're 10-46 gauge. I'll ask Dan about the brand he used.

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you James, glad you enjoyed the tones! Yes I agree, definitely still has a true tele energy!

John Mitchell

Do you ever use Thomastik strings?

Alex Farran Guitar

Indeed I do! On my Archtops I use their 12 gauge flatwounds. I also really like their “spectrum” acoustic strings in 12 gauge when I’m feeling fancy! 👌🏻

John Mitchell

Carol Kaye turned me on to TI Jazz Flats when I was taking bass lessons from her,

Roger

Yes. Ed Bickert. I’ve seen him play many times. He did after all live and work in my home town.

Simon Greening

Alex, what I would love. Love. LOVE. Is you tube video of you playing uninterrupted for a few hours (yeah not a big ask) blending your influences, songs improv, whatever, for a work backing track. The only channels I find do this are AI, which I want to avoid supporting. I find play lists and albums a little distracting but a single person just playing so calming.
