A blues study full of fire and grit. We look deep into how to embellish a simple open position E chord with dirty riffs and authentic licks in the spirit of the old school blues greats. A pinch of the delta, a sprinkling of Chicago and a tone straight out of Texas.

The materials will be exhaustive; not only including a note for note transcription of my opening improvisations, but also all of the scale and chords shapes discussed throughout the lesson. Clocking in at just over 15 minutes, this is one of my shorter lessons, but it is full to the brim with ideas and concepts that'll push your riff making skills to the next level!

Alex Ron here. How do we send you recordings of our lessons. Is that possible? Will comment on this new lesson later

Larry Coelho

Hi Alex, looking forward to your lesson. You've never disappointed. Thanks for your passion of guitar.

Joseph Corso

Thank you Alex ... great stuff as usual!!!

Zohar

Nice!!! You have so many amazing guitars!

Enrique Garcia Lopez

I really LOVED this lesson. Taking one chord and going deep on exploring in depth scales and positions around it and how to make them musical really help fundamentals "sinking in". Thanks

Vini G

Alex, always excited when you break from the clean tone! Think it’s time for a masterclass on Hendrix’s effects/techniques like the wah, feedback control, and the whammy bar!

MarkF

Super cool lesson Alex! I think I’ll rip a few of those licks if I can because they sound so good. Thanks a lot to take from those 15 minutes.

Ron Culbertson

So useful for so many blues songs . Great fun! Thanks

George Rebeiro

Just got one word for that….FILTHY!!! Love it.

Alex Farran Guitar

Haha yeah I know you dig the dirtier stuff! Definitely much more on the way! Sure thing, a specific lesson on Hendrix and his tone is a cool idea 👌🏻

Alex Farran Guitar

I’m glad to hear that Enrique, you’ve made me think that perhaps a series of lessons like this, taking one chord at a time and exploring the various lead approaches would be a cool idea 👌🏻

Roy M

15 minutes to last a lifetime :-) My very favourite kind of dirty blues.

Thomas

Always a good day when you drop another lesson man, and I am really digging this one already. Thank you Soul Man, please keep 'em coming!

Bruce Levin

Another great lesson! So much to absorb in 15 minutes. Love the idea of slowing everything down and focusing on one chord and the endless possibilities, keeps me focused on playing more purposeful and intentional. Oh, and did I say love the dirty/raw/nasty sound!!?

Bob Marsh

Man, you are GOOD!

Dennis Engel

Love your Collngs I35. I bought a Collings SJ in 2008 and play it often. I toured the Collings shop in Austin in 2018 just over a year after Bill passed away. Bill's team were keen to honour his legacy and it is so impressive how they continue to design and build great guitars. Thank you, as always for your helpful instruction. Best regards,

Alex Farran Guitar

That’s awesome Dennis, I’m sure a Collings acoustic will be in my future! Yes, I love how much pride they take in keeping to Bill’s standards. Truly brilliant 👌🏻

Jonathan Hubbard

Going back over this lesson Alex, really enjoying it and appreciating your clear explanations. Fab work as always - thank you so much

William Laven

Just love this lesson. Any chance you could write a bit about the intro - double stops, chords, etc. - played in the first ~20 seconds. It goes so quickly I can't follow what's happening.
