It's always a pleasure to be featured in Guitar World magazine, and I absolutely love the support you guys have shown for these lessons over in the comments sections. It really means the world to me! 🙏🏻

There's a big download of materials to accompany this one and I wanted you guys to have it; audio examples at full and slower speeds, my backing track and of course tab in guitar pro and PDF formats for each of the 10 examples.

Personally I'm not too happy with their choice of thumbnail and title.. seems a little unnecessarily antagonistic to me.. but hey, I know that I'm old fashioned and that this is just standard procedure in the world of YouTube nowadays. Anyway, I don't mean to sound ungrateful in any way whatsoever.. I massively appreciate Guitar World for putting me on their platform and can't thank them enough. I used to buy this magazine as a kid and the 9 year old Alex would be absolutely blown away by this turn of events!

Anyway, enough waffle from me, enjoy the lesson guys and we'll get back to our regular programming next week!

I commented on the video yesterday to criticise the caption on the thumbnail - so I'm very glad to see that you agree - Thanks again for all your amazing lessons

Shmookie

It was very noticeably not your aesthetic in the thumbnail! Haha! But yes, I for one just love to see your work and wonderful insights on a such big platform! So very generous of you to provide all these materials! Thanks Alex! 🍻

Sean

Lol yeah I think we all realized that you'd not have chosen that for a thumb title. I'm also thankful that we get your tabs and notation, the Guitar World ones were a little strange. So glad to see you be featured elsewhere too. Maybe a collab's in the future? Awesome lesson as always, and that 50's Strat is always a treat to hear.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 OUTSTANDING walkthrough of how to approach blues soloing 👊🏼💪🏼

David Lockwood

I’m happy with the caption! It applies to me. Congrats Alex on the recognition you receive - well deserved. 👍

The stinger title has become de rigueur for youtube videos nowadays. Your videos certainly don't need attention grabbers of that sort. Anyone who has watched even one of your lessons knows that there is more usable info per minute than the videos of just about any other YT instructor. Just my opinion, of course. I always write songs after going through one of your lessons, ha ha! Thanks, Alex, for providing real value. Robert

Rick

Alex, absolutely love your lessons! A great job of teaching blues with style so we don't all end up sounding like BB or SRV.Thanks! As i mentioned in GW,I have that Strat MIJ version,It is a workhorse.

Thanks buddy, I really appreciate that! It’s a real privilege to be able to share these ideas with you all. 🙏🏻

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you Sean, glad you feel that way! I’m certainly open to collabs in the future. I have a few irons in the fire on that score already but need to make it manifest! 😅

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you David, I appreciate that! And no, your solos never suck, not at all! 🍻

Alex Farran Guitar

That’s very kind of you Robert, thank you. And I’m so glad to hear that the lessons inspire song ideas too! 🙏🏻🧡

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you Rick, glad you enjoyed it! Very nice.. those MIJ Fenders are magical things! 👌🏻

Jonathan Hubbard

Great lesson - packed full of good juicy stuff. Thanks Alex!!

Alex, this just might be the finest blues soloing lesson I've seen in my lifetime.... seriously. BTW, those of us that "know" you, never believed for a moment that the title "your blues solos suck" was your idea. You're too classy for that. Can't thank you enough for this lesson!

David Lockwood

This really is a great well presented and explained lesson covering blues played over a Major progression. It brings it all together in an easily understandable format. No wonder you have become one of the best guitar educator / coaches in the World.

Alex Farran Guitar

Oh wow that’s so good to hear buddy, thank you! Very happy you enjoyed it so much! 🙏🏻

Alex Farran Guitar

Ah thank you David, that’s really nice of you to say! 🙏🏻🧡

Another great lesson Alex. You lay out some great theory ideas then give fantastic examples of how to phase them so they are useful music ideas. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Andrew Blackard

Thank you Alex. This arrives on my 71st birthday and just what I needed. I've been working hard on some technique stuff and what I needed was some fun for a birthday break. :) Andy

Thanks so much for this lesson Alex. The format is perfect for me. Bite sized nuggets very well explained and demonstrated. So many pennies have dropped for me. Also the slow backing tracks are really helpful for practicing and playing along, especially because the sound quality has been maintained.
