I love Country Swing! Thanks Alex you're the best guitar teacher on the internet. Look forward to the Tab.

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you so much Michael, that’s so kind of you! The TAB should be available to download under this post. Let me know if you have any troubles downloading it. 🙏🏻

Alex Farran Guitar

Not sure what you mean?.. It’s been there for a few hours!.. as soon as the video came out. Have you checked the attachment under the post? I always provide a zip file containing TAB/Notation, backing tracks, chords.. the whole lot!

Alex - at 4:05 in the video after the Bb double stop run, when you target the 4 chord with the Eb semitone slide, the tab at the end of bar 5 appears to reflect a slightly different route to the 4 chord, where the player would land down on two double stops in what appear to be from the Bb triad on fret 3, and then hover a semitone above that Eb major triad, but never really sliding down to it. I just want to be sure I'm not confused.

Ah, I getcha.. in the transcription as Jimmie himself played it, it's just a case of playing only the D string note on that resolving Eb triad rather than both the strings together like I use in my example on the thinking behind the phrase. Feel free to play both notes though.. it's really only the most subtle difference and actually sounds cooler to my ear anyway! ;) Visualising it as part of a bigger picture, or bigger structure is crucial in understanding how to apply this stuff when you're improvising your own solos. Hope that helps!

Yep - thanks for replying, I get what you mean, and moving forward if I come across something similar, I now know what's happening. I'm definitely learning that, or becoming more self-aware in my playing rather, there's a distinction between getting hyper focused and silo-minded about learning a piece on the one hand, and then also being able to frequently (as possible) step back to make sure you're visualizing the bigger structure/context. This is a great reminder of that. Thank you.

Thanks David, very glad you got the right sentiment from my message :)

One more on my « To learn list » ! An amazing and very comprehensive lesson on a very obscure guitar player, thank you so much for bringing Jimmie from your spotlight 🤩 to our fingers !
