David

is there any tabs for guitar pro with this lesson, I can't find any here.

Alex Farran Guitar

Yes David, they’re always in the zip file underneath the post 👍🏻

David

Thanks Alex, i see it now but it didn't seem to be there beforehand then i found it in your email you sent today and it was on there,Not sure why it wasn't showing on the site?cause it is now:) Anyway thank you , looking forward to this one, enjoy your trip

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks David. Yes that’s odd.. it should certainly have been there from the very start as I schedule all the posts more than a week in advance and haven’t touched anything since then. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Have fun working on it buddy and let me know if you have any questions 👍🏻

Lindsay Martin

This is a great lesson as always. I especially enjoy the inclusion of Ernest Ranglin ideas. The Father of Ska is still kicking at 91 years. The theory walkthrough is enormously helpful.

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks Lindsay, very glad you enjoyed it. And great to see another Ernest Ranglin fan around! 🍻

Gideon Marriott

YUSSS!! Been waiting for this one for ages! Thanks Alex

George Nichols

Love the reference to the Caged.Which i use as the EDCAG.All the shapes start on E chord .Which means the major scale starts not on the classic major position but the one next up.This makes it easier if you are mixing the minor penta and the major penta you dont have to move back for the major penta you play both scales in the same position.

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks George but you’ll have to wait in line 😉😂 Sorry, couldn’t resist. Yes indeed, you spotted the Beatles tune! 👍🏻

George Nichols

Only reason i brought out the numbering system in the Caged or edcag system because im wondering which position you use in the major penta for the 1 or the E position. There are teachers that use the second position and other that use the classic first position.Just so we are on the same page thats all.

Patrick McKinney

Great lesson Alex. Lovely tone you are getting as well. No amp? Is there a backing track without the lead in the zip file? That can be really handy when working on these lessons. Thank you sir as always!

George Nichols

My finger will never bend back that way not in this lifetime

Alex Farran Guitar

Hey George, for me the CAGED system is adapted for different contexts. For Major pentatonic "shape 1" I would certainly be thinking of the "E shape"

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks Patrick, really glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the kind words re; tone. For this one I was using my Lazy J20 amp which is based on an old Fender 5e3 tweed deluxe circuit. I recording that through the universal audio Ox Box.

Alex Farran Guitar

haha, man, if I had a dollar for every student who said that to me over the past 15 years! Inevitably all of them end up being able to do it with the right training and practice approach 😉

Guy Roberts

Great stuff, but can't download the PDF notation

George Nichols

Dont know ,i always was envious of player that were double jointed.I would love to be able to do that.

George Nichols

Thanks ,what i consider the E shape is actually the second position ,you know the house shape. The chuck Berry lick minor third to major third.Think we are on the same page .it gets very confusing when the teacher and student arent on the same page. After much confusion i pretty much have the system under control.Great organizational tool.Doest mean you sound any better, well maybe a bit better.Appreciate you help keep the great work up.

Rob Brazier

I've run into this problem too. If you're logged into Patreon and reading Alex's latest posts from the "Notifications" tab, you will not see links to download the files. In order to see the links, you need to click through to Alex's Patreon page (you will see the blue banner "Alex Farran Guitar Lessons" at the top of the page, letting you know you're on Alex's page, rather than just the general Patreon notifications inbox).

George Nichols

Alex, which volume is the backing track in ? I bought volume 1and2 .Also what number is the Backing track 1,2,3,….

George Nichols

I agree ,ill be getting some more of those tracks.Get some sleep,Ha,Ha

Julian Gross

I love the range of musical styles of these lessons - but they're all close enough to be mutually supportive

John Petitt

Wonderful lesson, Alex. So many great applicable ideas. Thank you. Have you ever considered doing a lesson on Sleepwalk?

David

Thank you Rob for your help, have a wonderful day:)

Arthur

Hello - the PDF file in the ZIP seems to be corrupted as my Windows PC is not able to extract it.

Alex Farran Guitar

Hi Arthur, sorry to hear that. Are you running an old version of windows? I’ve noticed a couple of people running Windows 7 have had some issues extracting zip files created on a Mac. I’ll email the files directly over to you right away Arthur, and will also add them as individual files to the above post 👍🏻

Peter Florack

Alex, unfortunately I am having the same problem,... cannot download.

Alex Farran Guitar

How bizarre!.. Sorry to hear that Peter.. have just emailed them to you directly and have now attached the files separately to the above post (as well as the zip file)

Arthur

Hi Alex - Tnx for the reply. Got the files. I am on a Win10 PC.

Ran Bush

Hello Alex - based on this video and your Nashville licks video, I just joined. Outstanding stuff! FWIW I really enjoy your "song based" approach. I also support Jack Ruch, Rick Beato and Tim Pierce on their channels, but I think you've got a nice set of tunes to learn from. And, the Motown PDF un-zipped for me perfectly on Mac iOS c 12.6.

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you Ran, I really appreciate the kind words my friend! And thanks for letting me know the zip file worked okay for you. Glad to have you here with us! 🙏🏻

Anthony Padden

So much to glean from this lesson! I just keep watching it over and over, and I pick up a little more knowledge each time, then practice a little of what I gleaned to incorporate into my own playing. I had decent fretboard knowledge, but this lesson is making me think about the neck in new and different ways. So happy to join you on Patreon Alex!

Hans

I realy enjoy this tune. It helps me to improve my skills playing soul. Thx

Scott Cutrer

This is exactly what I have needed. Sometimes you just need someone to break things down for you in just the right manner. Love your teaching style. Light bulb moment for me with the descending double stops within the pentatonic shapes. Thank you!

Zohar

So much stuff here is theoretically over my headdddd! working through it, and it's just the best!

Alex Farran Guitar

Really glad you're working through it buddy, that's the way to make this theory stuff stick! 👌🏻

John Rose

That Ranglin part is a trip! Any other tips for practicing it other than slow and steady while gradually increasing speed? I'm used to alternate picking but I notice you rake pick here as well...

Rob James

Alex - this study is a ripper!! Fabulous. I think I’m up for the challenge (I hope)

Rob James

Hey Alex - I can’t seem to find the backing track? MP3 has your lead in it not just backing track

Paul Hodgson

had to scroll a long way to find this, such a great lesson!

Lets transcribe

I Love this sound so much. I'm really at a loss for words.
