Ooooh! Can’t wait for this!! Thanks for all your amazing work and constant contributions!!

Andrew Plummer

Love this video - as you know, exactly the kind of thing I'm trying to bring in to my playing!

Andrew Plummer

I can guarantee I will - so much there to get stuck into!

Wieger Sietsma

Sounds great! And. ... it makes sense to me....

MarkF

Fantastic! I am not playing in a band, but what I’ve always wanted to do as a soloist is tie these arpeggios together with some chord shots to enhance the flow of a chord melody. Thanks for the lesson.

Michael Lumert

Oh, what a great idea for a lesson! I already know the chord melody, now I can round out my knowledge of the song. Very nice! Very, very nice! I’ve been listening to all the different interpretations of the song on Spotify today.

Joop Vanzeir

Very beautifully done Alex! Gonna have fun with this one :)

Alex Farran Guitar

That’s great Michael!.. glad you like the idea. Now you have a full performance of the piece.. run through the chord melody, then the solo, then back to the chord melody again to finish perhaps? 👌🏻

Gert De Groof

Hi Alex, really great, I learned a lot from the chord melody of this song, eager to take this further with the lead study. I noticed that the GP lead etude file generates an error on my iPad. There is no sound, the chord files are ok. Error message: “this file contains an audio track not supported on mobile” . Maybe other users are having this same problem?

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks for the heads up Gert. I believe that is always the case when trying to open the embedded audio file for guitar pro on a phone or tablet. Hopefully it still lets you get the midi audio if not the proper audio to play along with the sheet music?

Gert De Groof

The thing is, the file opens nicely in guitar pro (on iPad) it also plays nicely, there just isn’t any sound. There is a small waveform drawing behind the filename, which all your other files don’t have. All the other files do play with (midi)sound. I’ll try and do some research to try and find out what’s going on…for now I’ll work with the video lesson.

Gert De Groof

Is there a way to just play the midi sound?

Gert De Groof

Nevermind…seems like in settings tab, the audio was muted…🙄. Sounds great now 😂

Jerome Oks

I love that song. First heard it on Bill Evans' Explorations and later on Nu Metal band Helmet's Betty (for real!).

Jerome Oks

Oh, and Nels Cline did a sorta valse musette interpretation that gets me all nostalgic.

Gert De Groof

Really? It is on that album? How could I miss that? Awesome, gonna check it out! Thanks for refreshing my memory Jerome, cheers!

Gert De Groof

Brilliant! I totally forgot about that! You’re right. Page Hamilton has always been one of my idols, embodying my different musical influences…

Gert De Groof

Damn…I was gonna practise ‘Beautiful love’….now I find myself rippin away on ‘Betty’ 😁 Such a great album

Alex Farran Guitar

Love that version. I chose that album as “album of the week” a few months back, just before doing the Beautiful Love chord melody. Was definitely a big influence on my version 👌🏻

Brian Johnson

Hey, Alex. Thanks for adding the lead mp3 to the GP file. cheers!

Jerome Oks

Alex, In the chord melody, any reason other than personal taste that you used FMaj7 the major relative of Dm7 in bar 13 and bar 17, given that you could hit the same melody notes in both cases?

Joseph Corso

Are you kidding me this is just Phenomenal Playing / Teaching !!! Thank you
