Recommended Viewing!.. Bireli Lagrene's Gipsy Project (Patreon)

Expanding the weekly album recommendation posts a little we now move into the exciting World of technicolour video!..

One of the all time classic modern gypsy jazz concerts. I bought this on DVD many years ago and am pleased to see that it's now available in it's full form on YouTube!

So many great, inspired moments from one of the great modern jazz improvisers. His solo on "Troublant Bolero" is a highlight for me, as is his incredible solo on "Si Tu Savais", as well as their takes on "When Day is Done" and "Viper's Dream".

Just listen to that driving rhythm section too, when Bireli isn't soloing, he's throwing coal into that engine big time ;)

Near the end of the show, the majority of the big names in Gypsy Jazz guitar make an appearance together on stage and play Django's iconic "Les Yeux Noir" solo note for note.. in unison!
