Who fancies a midweek blues jam?!.. this is a fun one! Peter Green’s take on Freddie King’s classic “The Stumble”. The challenge with this piece is to keep that picking hand nice and articulate at higher speeds. You have to really dig in if you want to get that legit blues tone 👌🏻

Well I’m in one of those moments right now. Since getting my 335 back with these new @sunbear_pickups PAF’s installed I’ve been revisiting some of my favourite “PAF” tones, this Peter Green piece being one of them. This is “The Stumble”.. originally written by the great Freddie King. The new “Atom” pedal by @browneamplification is providing some beautifully dynamic, low gain dirt. This is fast becoming a favourite of mine, which is no surprise as their “Protein” pedal is my favourite dual overdrive of all time and this is the fabulous green side from that. And a splash of reverb courtesy of the @strymonengineering Flint for the cherry on top. The amp is my @lazyjprojects J20.. I’ve had this amp for 10 years now and it’ll NEVER leave my side. One of my greatest gear purchases of all time without a doubt. I've been working on this for a while. Freddie used the same sequence of 6's in Hideaway but with different phrasing. This one is harder as you have to move all the way back to the 12th fret very quickly. Thanks!

Classic. Those Sunbears sound great, as you’d expect. Stu made me a set to compliment my Suhr PT. The Thurnbuckers sounded too modern to me - with the Sunbears I’ll swear it now sounds like a vintage LP.

This is going to date me but I saw Freddie King several times at the Las Vegas Convention Center. He was the opening act for Grand Funk Railroad on New Years Eve 1972. Great guitar player. Hideaway was a classic.

Thanks John. Lazy J is set clean and I’m getting the drive from the Browne Amps “atom” which is basically a Nobels ODR-1. I always set those circuits with Level and tone at 2 o,clock, and drive at around 10 o’clock 👍🏻
