Buongiorno miei carissimi Patreons,
Me ne ero già accorto in studio.

🇬🇧 ENGLISH
Good morning, my dear Patreons,
photographing Melyra always reminds me how much the person in front of the camera can shape the whole direction of a project.
I had already seen it in the studio. Even in a more controlled setup, with lights, backdrops and a clearer direction, Melyra had her own way of being in front of the lens: she listened, played, moved naturally, without turning every gesture into an attempt at the “perfect” pose.
That is why, when I started imagining an outdoor shoot at the Parco degli Acquedotti, she came to mind almost immediately.
I needed someone free. Someone who could belong to a real place without looking placed there. A model who could walk through the grass, let the wind move around her, laugh, turn, shift the rhythm, look back at the camera with complicity, and still feel completely believable when the work became more sensual, more physical, closer to the body.
With Melyra, that happened very naturally.
There was no need to break through any awkwardness or force her into the mood of the shoot. She was there. Fresh, spontaneous, a little cheeky, in the best possible way. She followed the direction, and then sometimes a movement of the dress, a laugh, or a sudden gust of wind would take the shoot somewhere slightly different.
And that felt right.
That afternoon at the Parco degli Acquedotti confirmed what I already felt about her: Melyra works so well because she does not make the image heavy. Even when the photography moves into a more daring space, she keeps it light, present, elegant. She does not force sensuality or make it theatrical. She lets it come through the movement, through the way she looks at the camera, through the relaxed relationship she has with her own body.
For me, that is a huge quality.
Outdoors, you cannot control everything the way you do in the studio. The light changes, the wind enters the frame, the location forces you to react. I had also chosen a very light setup, in a way I had never used before for this kind of project, but I did not want the technical side to become the focus. What mattered was staying close to what was happening between Melyra, the light and the landscape.
Looking back at the material, that is what strikes me the most: the images still carry the feeling of that afternoon. The heat, the air, her hair moving in the wind, the dress following the light, the laughter between shots, the sudden looks back into the camera. And above all, Melyra, making even the freer side of the project feel natural.
This free post can only take you so far.
Very soon, inside the FANATICs, the full photo series and a real backstage video from the shoot will arrive. That is where you will see where this freedom really took us: the movement, the tests, the complicity, the more physical moments, and all the parts of the work that I can only hint at here.
Join the FANATICs to discover the complete project with Melyra at the Parco degli Acquedotti: the photo series, the backstage video and the freer, more sensual and more intense side of this outdoor shoot in Rome.
