In the manhwa, Byung-gu actually didn't want to be raised, so it was much harder for Jinwoo to turn him into a shadow. It only worked in the third and final attempt. It was weird for me seeing it work right away in the anime.

The guy with the two swords is probably the 11th Japanese hunter, because only 10 of the 11 went on mission. With the commander saying that they have had two straight days of flying ant encounters, Japan is the other country in close proximity to Jeju island.

There was a part the anime skipped, Jinwoo also tried to revive the ant queen, well he did, and through that we kinda figured out that the ant king doesn't retain his gluttony ability or that's what I took from that little interaction. but just like other shadows Beru will grow stronger over time

I didn't expect this episode to go this way, but my memory of the post-Beru Jeju island stuff is a bit hazy. Some stuff I thought might be in the start of Season 3 was here but there's some interesting stuff that was also not shown, will be interesting to see what Aninews has to say on it. Although, They may still do that stuff at the start of Season 3 instead, so talking about it in any depth might be a spoiler. I will say they cooked, They set up some great hooks for Season 3, the two mysterious figures and the mysteries they were talking about, Jinwoos dad, the glitchy item, the new guild, The S-ranks and their own personal storylines, Japan's international concerns, the Badass New hunters shown, there's a lot they can explore

I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do with Season 3/4, right now there's probably like 1.5 seasons worth of content left based on the manwha in my estimation, so I really hope they can find a good way to bring that out to 2 full seasons rather than trying to rush it in 1. I think they can do it to be honest, between additional content from the light novel that I don't know about and just giving some side characters a bit more screentime. I'm really excited.

Freaking epic episode! A small thing they changed from the Manhwa. When Jinwoo tries to arise the healer, it actually doesn’t work the first two times because his will to not be reborn and fight again is so strong. Probably just cut for time.

Yes, that’s the China National Level Hunter. I think we can see that Goto’s opinion of his own power was rather inflated. Another piece of humour from the manwha that was dropped from the anime - when Jinwoo and his soldiers are doing cleanup out on the island, his minions start collecting crystals from the dead bodies as they would normally do. Jinwoo tells them to stop as he’s leaving the loot for rebuilding Jeju island. Then you see his army dropping all the crystals as though they’ve been caught doing something wrong

They also cut a kind of a funny moment where the association person at the red gate wouldn’t Jin Woo in due to protocols, and he ends up, calling the chairman back which leads to a funny exchange

Well it was different in the manhwa. He didn't wanted to be raised, shadow extraction failed twice and only after Jinwoo expressed that he only wants to save Cha it worked. I feel like that suits his character better and then Baek's plea had way more impact as well

I have read all of solo leveling material that the show is based off of and read all of the current material of the sequel series. I don't know about anime release dates but i can tell you that the source material for solo leveling is entirely complete whenever they feel like adapting it to anime. I'm so excited for when they do because this ending of season two is basically where the story's baby gloves come off. Loved watching with you!

We saw the 11th member of the Drawn Sword Japanese guild. He was talking to the 3 survivors about Plan 9 on the boat. He was the one surveying the radar and signal/comms. He's the vice-leader and also S-rank. The guy with the 2 swords is someone different, and Luke already has a good idea of who he might be judging from his reaction.

Episode 12 was top from season 2 overall ... Episode 13 felt rushed/not finished for a reason. They gave us appetizers in form of new characters and builded hype for 3rd season. Even without any announcements it is clear this show will continue they just can not legaly announce it for some reason. I bet they would need to make a contract extension with author to continue making a new season ... it can be many things. One thing is for sure. Solo leveling did with season 2 jump a queue of other shows in production line for A1-Picture studio because of how popular season 1 was. It could be simply that they have to legaly produce other shows because of contracts and work load. However it is sure this show will continue. My bet is on fall or winter season. In the meanwhile I have a feeling that this year will be surprising. If anything for last 15 years what I watch anime I can say that lately Anime production reached god like quality in animation and story telling. This year will be full of surprises.

In the episode 12 of season 2 at the end when Jinwoo looks back, if you listen closely, you can actually here someone saying something but the voice is unclear. In the Korean subtitle version of the episode it showed that the voice said "Use My Powers".

The anime fast paced it, clearly cause of this episode has only around 30mins, cause in the manhwa Sung Jinwoo tried the arise on the S Class healer three times to succeed. The anime even cut out the shadow extraction of the Ant Queen and the removal of it after some dialogue with Beru. But other than that this episode was flawless as always :D

You know what, I wouldn't really mind if they took a different approach for the next season, because in the latter part of the manhwa, hunters literally have no relevance, like even the [SPOILER ALERT!!!!!] Even the National level Hunter got one tapped by Monarch (or their counterpart, I forget the name XD), but I guess it's called SOLO Leveling for a reason. While it would be nice to see the failure chance of extraction continue to be relevant and the jinwoo-beru dialogs have that extra depth, it makes sense for them to streamline things to fit the episode into the regular episode broadcast slot.

Love the reaction! They left off like a 10 second interaction with Jinwoo and the Gate guy. The Gate guy actually stops Jinwoo and tells him he can't go in alone. Jinwoo has the "Do you know who I am?" moment, calls up the director then hands him the phone. 2 seconds later "yes sir, right away sir, you can go in!!"

I dunno.. the thing is nobody knew about he black ant.. they all though the island is full of fairly strong ants that arent really very strong but with such a huge numbers they will just overwhelm you and the queen i guess which turned out to be pretty weak even.. :D if they knew about the black ant they would plan thing completely different with Jinwoo in the far front would be my guess :D cause without it they would have been fine without Jinwoo for sure :D so i certainly dont blame him for not coming sooner... also i cant say about the power scale.. (commenting on the s hunter with 2 blades that wanted to fight black ant) the problem with him was lighting speed.. even if you would be strong enough to beat him you would need to be as fast as him aswell to beat him so i think that guy is full of crap and would died aswell xD

The guy on the boat was the one Goto was claiming to be as strong as. xD Also, it seems like the anime isn't going to touch on it at all, but there's a reason Jinwoo released Min's Shadow and why Jinwoo also didn't take the Japanese S ranks as shadow soldiers. Jinwoo doesn't like taking humans as shadows, and he'll only do it to people he considers bad / evil. So when Cha was dying he didn't immediately use Min because he doesn't want to enslave a good person, and only did it once he heard Min asking him to. In that same vein Jinwoo had no idea about Japan's plans of conquest, so he just saw them as allies that fell in battle, which is why Goto and the others didn't become Shadow Soldiers.

The story prologue is finally over. The main story of Solo Leveling and the TRUE epicness will begin with Season 3 (whenever it comes out, hopefully SOON)! 19:30 Who the hell is that guy? That's China's #1 hunter - Liu Zhigang, the national level (Or 7 star hunter in Chinese measuring system because of course, they didn't want to do the E-S ranking system like most of the world). That's what the power of a nation level hunter is, and why Goto was just full of hot air, as he was nowhere CLOSE to this dude (he claimed he was as strong as him before, when he was first introduced in Korea).

Those ants are not weak at all. The weakest of the ants is as strong as a B-rank hunter. And there were several hundred that were as strong as S-rank hunters individually. The only reason the S-rank hunters stood a chance was because ants were their peers in power, but not in intelligence. Good teamwork and strong tactics can overcome significant numerical advantages. But that arrogant Chinese hunter would've died to Beru in seconds, and he couldn't have dealt with the ant swarms by himself either. So he's just talking out of his ass like the rest of the powerful hunters, because they never really got tested and felt invincible.

That is exactly what Cha was talking about. A typical athletic dude who does cycling, swimming, marathons, etc. would be fairly equal in pure raw strength to someone like Bruce Lee, and yet no one would be foolish enough to think he had a chance against Bruce in a fight. It's not because Bruce was superhuman, he just honed his skills to such an insane level that he was capable of what many would consider to be superhuman feats.

I think something people usually forget regarding jinwoo's personality is that at the start of the story he is absolutely a man with a mission, he is laser focused on getting stronger to save his mom and nothing will get in his way. After his mom is saved, he finished his quest and can relax and actually look at everything else that he has achieved and can accomplish with his power, that's why he seems much more relaxed and willing to enjoy things/show emotion.

I‘m a little disappointed how they animated the first scene with the Healer Byung Gyu… in the Manhwa it was not only emotional but in the beginning also of rage of Baek at Jinwoo even though he saw his overwhelming power, he already grabbed his shoulder screaming what he had done to his friend. Just a few more secounds of animation would have done the trick but well… (and as someone already said, he had to try twice, it didn‘t work the first time)

he has like 10 shows in his top5, idk why he keep saying top5 instead of top10, I heard him say 86, hxh, aot, violet evergarden, Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood, Solo leveling,etc. Feels silly only saying top5 as u keep shift shows around to fit this top5 criteria when it's much easier to say top10 and just add more shows, ez. (if bottom top5 is 9/10 but then u watch a new show and its 9.1 and now u have a new show in top5, you have to memorize more) The simplest way I did was to make a top for each category (best isekai, best comedy, best action, best drama, best adventure, etc) and then my own top10 which might contain 2x action, 2x isekai, 1x romance, 3x fantasy, 1x comedy, 1x adventure. that way you suddenly have a way bigger top, easier to micro manage, EASY to reply to ppl I noticed luke has a hard time answering this out of fear to not offend people, if he implements what i say then he doesn't have to fear anything. he'd have his own top10 and if he offends others it wont matter cuz he can say then : "best ecchi is no game no life", while an ecchi anime is never on his TOP period he can say that sentence and he can be assured he can cover all ppl in his fan base. So far he never says it publicly or he said 2-3 anime from his top5 but he never said it rank1,2,3,4,5 in same sentence, he just said names and ppl try puzzle it together, but its the sad life of being a content creator. Gave this context so u know full history of his mentality and why we dont have a top5 yet

@Lareolan I read the manhwa and they never show him and what he does to know his power. But we get the idea that he is national level hunter, and he is chinese rank1. Goto ryujii was a wanna be, a lot of national level hunters they pretty much can SOLO an S rank gate (weak S gate, for strong S gate they need help). "But that arrogant Chinese hunter would've died to Beru in seconds, and he couldn't have dealt with the ant swarms by himself either" - You either are only anime viewer or forgot manhwa portrayal of national level hunters. The manhwa tells us that beru is somewhat a bit weaker than a national level hunter, that USA Rank1 smokes beru but he would beat other national level hunters as well. If beru is lv90, rest national level hunters are lv90-95, USA rank1 is lv98 and sung jin woo against beru is lv 96 and lv100 after island clearing. When you see it that way, Goto ryuji was a Lv80-85 (if not for the hard exo skeleton of beru, if beru had flesh instead, he would've died to jin woo hand the same way goto died to beru's hand) PS: the numbers I provided aren't real but it's an easy way to realize strength when u have numbers

ah this is cuz in manhwa there was a new chapter (so ppl had to wait 1 week, so after 1 week it's ok to be cocky again, but in anime was a few minutes, so after they made him humble and down to earth, they couldn’t add that scene cuz it would feel odd for only anime watchers)

Not all anime adaptation follow the source material until conclusion. Many have fallen behind without new seasons, that all depends on production prospects. I doubt Solo Leveling to not have more seasons, thought, but that's very common to happen

this made me realize i wished we took it slower power creep so we have more time fleshing out the rest of national level hunters and maybe even add a tournament arc with hunters that would've been cool and make jinwoo struggle against people. In manhwa the portrayal of struggle is created but anime beside 1 fight in s1, he walked out the rest.

So while the studio has explicitly said that Season 3 is not renewed yet, imo it looks like they're fishing for a large outpouring of support (possibly to justify maximum budget?) more than a real question about whether they're going to make Season 3 or not. Think that's also supported by the fact he hinted at "good news" coming around the middle of the year. They still have roughly half the source material for the original manwha left, so there's no concern about content. That said, we're probably looking at a slightly longer delay between S2 and S3 than we got between S1 and S2. But as long as it happens and they keep the quality up... no complaints here :) Who knows, they might be looking to give the animators a bit of a well-earned vacation after this huge success before they outright commit to diving back in tto working on S3 lol

the glitch after jinwoo reached level 100 was his reward, the key to the cartenon temple. That's the double dungeon where he got the power of the system. If we get season 3 that's going to be part of the next arc.
