While Stands are obviously quite fantastical, (almost) all of them obey the laws of physics, or whichever other principle is suitable, in some way. They're not literally magic, as in they can't just do whatever they want. The limitations and rules tied to them are relatively strict, sometimes to their own detriment as well. This is why JJBA fights continue to be about planning and figuring out weak points instead of just shows of brute force.

Yes, there are rules to how stands work, but god almighty do they not obey the laws of physics. Only the laws of their respective gimmicks. Edit: Best episode of this part coming up.
