unlucky account

Finally. We need more berserk ost reactions!

Magride

Wait he Never eared the BERSERK ost what a shame :) you should try to put the subtitles

maattthhhh

Same composer of Bleach, Shiro Sagisu. And there are videos out there where you can see an entire orchestra perform.

Magride

Berserk is insane but the animation on the recent stuff is ... let us say it's :(LOOK AT WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO MY BOY :( )

Roxy’s Holy Relic

Nothing comes close to the greatness of the manga but I highly recommend reacting to the Berserk (1997) anime adaption here on Patreon. 2016 was a massive disappointment and most try to pretend it doesn’t exist

Digit

The manga is "Elden Ring - the anime", the anime is "Put your grasses on - the anime" lol

MarianSony

there's a reason why Shiro Sagisu is one of the goats when it comes to OSTs, considering he'd done both berserk and bleach -berserk was poorly executed with amazing soundtrack but bleach...on the other hand...it's amazing in both regards Also I remember you had the exact same reaction when you reacted to Invasion and Power to strive Bleach OSTs, yep, Shiro Sagisu has this effect on people xD

Lu C

OST Forces is another great one from the Berserk 1997.

RavenMagus

1)Luke as said he doesnt care about animation much 2) Luke has already been traumatized by beserk horse

CasualOtaku

Luke, you have not seen a show with truly bad animation. If you saw the 2016 Berserk with the context of what the manga looks like you would not be saying bad animation doesn't bother you anymore.

Syked

Shiro sagisu worked on Berserk, Evangelion, Magi and Bleach (still is in thousand year blood war) (and probably other things). Every soundtrack he did are just insane quality, a lot of people know hiroyuki sawano due to his more recent works (AOT, Solo Leveling, 86 etc) but don't sleep on Shiro Sagisu, he is one of the GOATs. Also check the 2016 version for a different twitst on this OST, next for me would be 100 years war for Berserk and Thanatos from Evangelion (same composer).

Magride

yes yes but stil, it does NOT do it justice is what I mean

HungLikeAMule

I'd love to see you react to the anime! The latest stuff is not great, but the 1997/98 anime is amazing. Animation-wise it's a bit dated, but it's by far the best adaptation. If you do watch it - make sure to start from Episode 2. The first episode is basically a huge spoiler for the ending of the anime.

Rickkk

Watch the old version and then the 3 movies. Then react to some video about what parts were censored. And finally decide with chat if you will continue the series or not

MarioDeppner

You can watch the first season from 1997—it’s worth it. But everything that came after, I wouldn’t recommend even to my worst enemy. It’s not just the animation that’s bad; the entire thing feels like a slap in the face to the manga and the fans. It doesn’t even follow the story properly and skips over a lot of important content.

sankro

I would love to see a Berserk 1997 reaction

Eric burton

I can not like this video enough more berserk plz

Klarin Black

I mean The 3 movies are fairly good as well, especially if you have context from the manga or the 97 anime. Sure, they cut a bunch of stuff out, but they aren't "a slap in the face", theyre just good movies, not the absolute pinnacle of production or anything (esp movie 1 imo), but still good enough that some parts in it are just straight up better than the 97 adaption imo (mainly talking about movie 3 here). but yeah, 2016 anime is only good for making fun of/despairing at after you've read the manga.

Klarin Black

on board with 97 followed by the movies or memorial edition, but whereas watching 97/the movies doesn't make the manga experience worse after watching them, the 2016 /2017 anime absolutely does. The only reason they are still somewhat watchable is that the story of the original manga thats still left in it is just so good that it can equalize the worst production since the dawn of mankind.

Ben Lobner

you can watch the first arc in the 1997 version as a good introduction. the movies are kinda mid. the cg mixed with drawn art style throws me off way too much. the 97 show looked much better in comp. the 2016/17 tv show is complete trash. the cg and sfx are so horrendous that you're asking yourself how a sane management could have green lighted this.

Jonas Teigen

yea you can watch it if u watch only the one from 1997

MasterMaster

please more osts from Berserk. Aria, Forces, Sign, so many peak OST's

StreetBoy33

Please react to the “Ghost in the Shell” movie OST

Bobby Vang

You have precious time in this world, don't waste it on the 2017 adaptation. Watch the 1997 adaptation or the 3 movies adaptation if you're not going to read the manga. The best way I can explain to you on why you don't watch 2017 adaptation. It's not just the animations that 2017 suffers from, it's also the pacing and character developments.

Zer0

That's because Berserk is depressing and epic.

Zer0

The issues I have with the 97 version are they leave out a very important character and the ending is just cut off because said character doesn't exists. Frankly, I have issues with both adapations. But since Luke doesn't mind bad cgi either one should be fine. Really he should watch both if not just read the manga.

Niamh_nev

the manga is alot better but i personally have no issues with the 1997 anime or the cgi movies :) i say watch em!

Virax

The thing is the 2017 is totally garbage, that should be a crime, but the 1997 is ok despite the cuts and censorship

Mugetsu

Shiro Sagisu is so good with the OSTs, Berserk and Bleach alike. Just the first few seconds are enough to know it's him.

Lunair

Please watch the 1997 variation. Might be a nice Patreon only if you don't like editing and putting on censors

Adrian B

Berserk is epic and also super dark. The anime only tells you the prolog really. If you watch it I guarantee you want to keep reading it. Reading it before is probably the best experience still.

JammySplosha

i love this version, but i lowkey love the definitive version more

MarioDeppner

I was talking about the 2016 anime. Sorry, I forgot about the movies.

Desolane

The 1997 anime is pretty good, though it ends on a massive (MASSIVE) cliffhanger. The movie trilogy is awful and cuts out more than half the story, and the 2017 anime is infamously terrible.

Jabin (Aelic)

I recommend watching the 1997 version, and then watching the 3 movies

Desolane

I don't understand why people recommend the movies. They look alright, but they absolutely butcher the characters and cut out way too much.

Creamy Co.

magi has great ost by Shirō Sagisu

Creamy Co.

People only dislike the 2016 version.

MarioDeppner

I don't know. I haven't watched it, I just heard it was good.

Dave M

the older golden age series is a fun ride. the newer movies and show were misses

Sai

Oh shit! Luke is reacting to a banger! I didn't think he would EVER do this one. Watch it, you'll still enjoy it a lot no matter what. Berserk is just good of a story.

Sai

I'm one of the weirdos who still liked it, haha. The CGI was godawful most of the time, but the story telling was still 10/10 to me.

Matheus Alencar

Please Luke, watch the 1997 version of Berserk

Kinky

I disagree somewhat considering it actually adapts more things more accurate to the manga compared to the other adaptations such as the humour and story pacing beyond episode one.

iDiarkis

definitely watch the 1997 series, see for yourself if you want to see the rest. The CGI for the rest is just awful. Would also like to see what you think of Rocco Minichiello's metal cover of this

patros36

Yeah thats the thing, everything else than the CGI (and maybe the sound) was pretty good and followed the story faithfully....but they had to go CG.....you can even see that the studio can do really good 2d animation in the Openings, where they use it for some reason

thewizardninja

The only real problems with the 1997 version are that it skips the prologue and ends on a cliffhanger. That said, I'd say the prologue is CRITICAL to properly appreciating the masterful storytelling in what the 1997 anime does cover. Since the anime is essentially a giant flashback, without the prologue you aren't suitably primed with information of the future. You're supposed to already know that things end a certain way and that certain characters make certain decisions and the flashback is meant to be showing you the lead-up to them. Without it, it's a solid fantasy story about demons and knights and such, WITH it it's also a thrilling masterclass in dread and suspense. It's almost 3 whole volumes of manga but I'd highly recommend reading it before watching.

ORORA06

What I can highly suggest is that you go ahead and see the 1997 anime, heck, even the 3 bad CGI movies could be seen once, it's not as bad as the 2017 adaptation. Anyway see the 1997 one while knowing the source material is greater and better in so many aspects. Then finally read it from the beginning. That way we get a berserk reaction and you get to witness the story as well.

HappyD

Luke, just read the manga and post reviews of each volume. People will watch it. The only thing that came out of any of the adaptations that I think truly captures the mamga is the music.

Savingstumps

I would have liked them to catch up, since I would have loved to see the story continue on.

[red]

Most people will recommend the 1997 anime, and I don't blame them, but if you want a more streamlined experience with this soundtrack and then pick up the manga afterwards if you liked it, I'd say the Memorial Edition movies would make for a decent choice. Either way, the story is good enough to outweigh most of the cons of either the movies or the old anime.

Matthew Harms

The movies are good in my opinion. Definitely one of the more darker anime series I have seen. Amazing soundtrack

I3ladeDragon

You never reacted to the ED of the Made in Abyss "Dawn of the Deep Soul" movie, not even in your reaction to it (from what I recall). A great Myth and Roid track, which is called "Forever Lost"!

Niklas Struve

You could also react to the OST Forces and watch the 1997 anime, If you want to See berserk. The animation ist Not so great but the Rest ist good so i would recommend it

mjaomjao2

he did actually react to it, it's listed as an ost though iirc

yan

ok but where is the danmachi reaction

mjaomjao2

I heard the original 1997 adaptation is good, so if you're fine with not getting a continuation it should be fine to watch that.

Danda

Yea the older versions of Berserk are pretty good. It's just the newest ones that were pretty bad

Jonas Teigen

Would be sick with some more bleach ost reaction, and i am pretty sure u have not heard these before. They are some of my favs, all are so peak - * Here to Stay - you're here to stay *Escalon * Nothing can be explained *Lucifer's Dance (the 6 min not the 1 min version) *1130 TYBW full orchestra choir *1133 TYBW CH united

Gabrielle Denise

The original series Berserk (1997) is not badly animated, just old fashionably drawn by hand. The rest of the story could be followed by watching the movies en season 2 from 2017. They are very CGI, not my favorite when it comes to the animation but worth the watch because of the story. I have seen the Berserk: The Golden Age Arc – Memorial Edition. It is okay but a lot is just left out and therefore nowhere near the storytelling of the original series!!!

Gabrielle Denise

Ps: Watching the original series will be a Partreon watch only!!

Arctic_Hokkyoku

PLEEEEESE CAN WE WATCH BERSERK GOLDEN AGE ARC MEMORIAL EDITION!!

Arctic_Hokkyoku

Berserk's animation for the Golden Age arc anime is similar to overlord's Quality but a little less hand drawn. the 1997 is good also, but the Memorial edition feels a bit more modern and immersive at certain points

Arctic_Hokkyoku

Yeah the Golden Age movies are Better than 2016. Major downgrade for everything in Conviction and Falcon of the Millenium arcs

Arctic_Hokkyoku

memorial edition was my first experience and the 3rd movie is amazing in the scenes vs the 1997 version. Plus It doesent end on a cliffhanger

Daniel Musgrave

agreed, people hate on it more than it deserves imo, the only berserk where the animation is jarringly bad is the 2016 one and that is a later setting in the story anyways

Duke of Disorder

Over the years it became a tradition for me to listen to the Berserk 97 ost while reading the new chapters. And I know for a fact I'm not alone in doing that

Barack O. Llama

top 10 anime with such peak osts. i really hope you get to react to it one day

Barack O. Llama

luke has in his mind that the berserk anime is bad because of people misinforming him. the 1997 version is one of the most loved anime to ever come out, but the 2016 version is terrible and the version you will hear the hate for. you will want to watch the 1997 version and then read the manga since the adaptation only covered like 1 or 2 arcs

Some0neElse

If you decide to watch Berserk do the 1997 version. Even unfinished its the best adaptation. Also the analogy with Elden ring isnt that wild... keep in mind recently Blizzard announced a collab between Diablo 4 and Berserk
