After seeing Erased go deep into many Anime tournaments and fail to win I’m glad the Erased curse has finally been broken. In my opinion it’s a must watch show for any new anime fan. Glad to see that you enjoyed the first few episodes yesterday and am looking forward to the next stream!

I've got to admit that I hate this anime just because the manga is so much better. The anime spoils the identity of the villain, and ruins the ending completely. Also the characters in the manga are more flushed out since it's like 3 times longer.

They literally said the truck driver died, and immediately after your asking if the driver is dead or not. Do you actually pay attention? Also casualties are used to describe someone killed or injured in an injury, they do not have to be dead. I agree the mother is great, however not all mothers are the same, some will just brush it off. "They never specify what curry it is in anime", the curry is Japanese curry, but to the Japanese themselves, it's simply curry. There's no need to specify that it's Japanese curry when you are in Japan. "If it stays this good all the way through, it's going to be an awesome journey", sorry to break it to you, but it doesn't stay this good, as it only gets better from here.

So I have a bit of a theory why Satoru's VA stands out here from other anime. You mentioned he sounds really genuine. Anime VAs tend to go for a less realistic approach, which can lead to strong performances full of emotion, but you lose that sincerity that you hear in Satoru's voice, being his first performance.

I see this anime the same as Uzamaki. The anime failed to do what the core of the manga had. In this case the story only has two main characters when the manga had so much more in a little more then 40 chapters. Not to mention the mystery is ruined, and the ending doesn't make sense.

I personally watch shorter anime then the long ones. Some are finished, some work as an advertisement for the manga... But yeah, it's possible to get a full story in a 12-25ish episode long season. i hope we could get more shorter ones also on the YT slots.

I am in a dilemma and i need help to decide. I have never watch Erased before, and i have now watch Luke react to 2 episodes and i am hooked, But... This kind of genre is hard to concentrate on in a reaction, since it gets paused alot (for me atleast) so my question is for ppl who have watch it. Would you recommend a first time watch of Erased, to be watch alone, or as a reaction?

Happy to see you are enjoying Erased so far. Towards the end of the stream you requested us to vote for more masterpieces that you haven’t had a chance to see yet. I think that March Comes in Like a Lion is a true masterpiece that you would absolutely love. A lot of the shows that tend to get voted in are fun popcorn anime, but if you want to specifically mix in a few masterpieces March Comes in Like a Lion is a must watch.

honestly id probably watch it alone for the first time. not because the series is to complicated(even though it has its moments lol) but because its the kind of series you should experience yourself away from possible spoilers and see how it makes you feel by the end of it when the story concludes

First time watching this series as well, and it's off to a great start! I love that they're covering dark themes like abuse and not shying away from it. The fact he's trying to change the future, but mostly reliving life with just small tweaks is interesting. Those small changes have big ripple effects (he's dating a girl he barely knew last time for example) but it's interesting that time seems to be resisting change to some extent, almost as if whatever gave him his power is only allowing him to make changes that will alter whatever it wants altered. Really hope the source of his power gets explained eventually. Speaking of powers, in Ep 1 he mentioned how fate seems to balance out whatever he changes, and sometimes he gets hurt. Considering the kid would have died and after saving him MC was just hospitalized with minor injuries, clearly he doesn't 1 for 1 suffer what he prevented. That being said, this time he's changing nearly 2 decades of history and saving multiple lives, so I could absolutely see him being crippled or outright killed at the end of this. I'd like to see him have a happy ending with Hinazuki, but I could just as easily see them just having a memorial for him or he gets a statue or monument or something and she just remembers him instead. -- As far as Ep 4's ending goes, I assume she's still alive. His ability resets him before a bad thing happens, so if she was actually killed or kidnapped presumably it would have triggered already? My guess is her mom either beat her, destroyed her gift for the Mc, or did both. She probably has a lot of rage built up from not getting to beat her on Saturday, and if I'm right about the mom's profession, she probably views Hinazuki going out with a boy and getting gifts from him very poorly, even if it was her birthday. I'm guessing this'll open the door to child services actually getting proper evidence and getting her out of that home. -- As far as suspects for who the killer is I'm not 100% sure. I do think the red eyes thing is just a meta thing for the audience though. Like we see Red Eyes to know a character is thinking / doing something evil, but in the show itself they don't see red eyes. So in that case just looking for a red eyed character won't be the key to finding the suspect. From how the mother responded in the 'present' before being stabbed, I'm assuming it's either a student, a police officer, or the teacher. We haven't seen any cops so that'd be weird, since shows love showing you the killer early on in mysteries. Teacher seems nice, but it's a classic trope to have the kind mentor turn evil, so I could see a world where he's manipulating the MC because he's wanting to get Hinazuki but wants her to be a better target or whatever. Or maybe he's a jack the ripper style and hates particular types of women, and he's trying to see if the MC can 'redeem' Hinazuki? As far as students go there's two obvious candidates imo. First is blonde haired kid. He's smart, already very aware about Hinazuki, and seems like he has a crush. Very possible that after MC saw her in his timeline the blonde spoke to her, she rejected him, and he killed her. Their other friend in the green was also killed right? I think they're the one that also asked the MC to walk home with them? If so then blonde kid could just hate the MC secretly and is targeting people that prioritize MC over blonde kid. Other option is ice skater boy. He was pissed off with MC and could have similar revenge motives, though his connections are a lot weaker since he's barely been in the show. I guess it's also possible one of the 'victims' is the killer too. Like if two died but one was just kidnapped, well, maybe that kidnapper was the killer and they just lied about it and police framed the dude because it makes more sense that a sus dude would be a child hunter than a child being a killer? That'd be a neat twist, though idk if it'd go that path. I think the teacher is the most obvious suspect, so I'm curious to see where this goes!

It's up to the distributor how and if they wanna localize the title or not so it's not like one guy making shit up. Konosuba's english title is "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!" which is basically a translation of the japanese one. As for Erased - while it doesn't exactly mean the title's "The town where only i am missing", it is a bit of a stretch but it somewhat conveys the meaning, and much more importantly - it's catchy, it's short, it flows much better in a conversation. It makes it easy to talk about it with your friends without sounding unnatural or using japanese abbreviation like BokuMachi, so that would be beneficial for the publisher overseas i guess?

I don’t think to your eternity season two had to drop off honestly you seemed to have a problem with the tone from scene to scene, but forgive me for saying, but sometimes it seems like you find it hard to read the tone of scenes and certain plot points. Which is especially not helped if you’re watching it on stream. Usually though you’re pretty intuitive. I think the best examples of you being on your A game are probably mushoku tensei and re zero since you don’t fall into the same traps, most other watchers seem to get into.

In Japanese its actually "The town where only i dont exist" If someone was erased then it would be a town where they dont exist. It doesnt take great leaps of imagination to see how erased is a simplified way to get a similar message across.

Erased has really left a big impression on me when I first watched it and it’s now a big part of my tattoo sleeve I got last year! The tattoo is not really about erased itself but I knew I wanted something time related and when I was trying to find ideas related to time, the tangled film rolls imagery and the blue glowing butterfly kept popping in my mind. I gave it as one of the ideas with reference to my tattoo artist and gave him free card on the final drawing.
