jwitn

yeah, these were pretty weird episodes

AchmodinIVSWE

From here on it becomes absolute peak. (For part 3)

A Guy

Honestly, I think it just comes down to a difference in nudity censorship, and bathing practices because Japan tends to not bother with male child characters full censorship and communal bathing is pretty normal there. Although I don’t know if it’s so normal that washing what she presumed was a supposedly abandoned child she just found is normal

Sejad Lulic

thank god for patreon to be able to actually see whats happening :D

Hiruman

This is the most sus thing I've seen in my entire life! Non non non. You need to watch more anime

Jacowab

in defense of the super hot girl, the writer of jojo comes from a place where its normal to bath with 50 people occasionally of mixed gender, every other part weird as hell but I give that a pass.

Magic Fibre

Of course Polnareff is the main character. It's in the title - PolPol's Bizarre Adventure

Joey Kuiper

This is Jojo's BIZARRE adventure. Don't take it so seriously, relax.

Magic Fibre

Polnareff wouldn't even have to tell his name to Jotaro. Just bringing out Silver Chariot would do the trick. I guess mind works differently when you're 3 years old

Holy Shot

I think the nudity itself is not weird, but the way they used the nudity in combination with the weird bathing scene with the lady makes it super weird lol

Frentzy

"A pedo lady took a "manly" child then she proceed using the excuse of a bath to touch him improperly, then a man appears and the man drowns the child then the child fight the adult by pooping on his face. All of this while the lady has become a fetus and will die within 6 minutes" Exactly the type of content I subscribed for...? question mark XD

Frentzy

the thing is, it was in "egypt" and the author Hirohiko Araki did travel the world so he knows egypt customs. So all these excuses make no sense. This is just part of the "bizarre" in the title.

A Guy

With hindsight in regards to how he handles other settings in the future, no matter where a part is set Japanese cultural influence will always shine through. It is unavoidable. This isn’t the only cultural inaccuracy up to this point of the part.

Zaki Alkabli

Bathing practices in japan are different than other places. Mixed baths where theyre naked is normal, and i think the woman just felt motherly towards the child and wasnt being a weirdo or anything. Of course the boob stuff is odd theres no excuse for that but otherwise i think she was pretty normal and just wanted to know what happened to the child that saved her. Polnareff didnt go for her because he knew the situation was odd and he also had traveling to do, but he admired the woman for taking in a child and being so kind to him.

Kevin V

People tend to forget this show has bizarre in the title

rmzs

Kid Jotaro is so funny. Thank you for the reaction

Slipstream

First it was DxD, now it's JoJo. React to anime they say. It will be fun they say... Luke contemplating his life choices. Good Luck Luke

Sai

New, he actually is one of the worst. 10:49 - Tom and Jerry mode!

Rem is best waifu

Now we will move on to good episodes only after these two for the rest of part 3.

Hængeklumpen

ehhhhh stop over thinking it. i don't believe the author did.

Smonolith

everyone at once: "You wouldn't believe what we just had to deal with," everyone at once except Jotaro: "it was weirdly sexual!" Jotaro: "What?"

Patec

Well, now that this is finally is over I'm really excited for the next episodes. Some of my favorite Jojo epsiodes coming up!

O_Rice_0

its quite simple Luke. Polnareff can't tell Jotaro his name because Jotaro wouldn't be able to hear him anyways. And they can't kill people anymore because they are trying to make the show more family friendly obviously.

thewizardninja

To be fair, Egypt had public bath houses as well for quite a long time. That part of their culture didn't stick around all the way up to modern day like it did with Japan, but it was going strong all the way up to 200 years ago. which isn't that far back in the grand scheme of things.

nik

i mean, going to egypt doesn't mean he'd automatically know the customs of a woman picking up a random little boy off the street and taking care of them. Also, Araki is Japanese anyway, so him using a japanese custom (a mother/motherly figure bathing with a child) is completely normal in Japan. Even if it's a random little boy.

Ben

gonna comment on this episode as well that polnareff hates shampoo because the evil doll stand put shampoo in his eyes lol

Joshua Lopez

Yeah, this part of Part 3 has always been a bit weird. That said, next two episodes are some of my favorites. There are some extremely old OVAs that came out in the early 90's that have a very different vibe from this newer anime that was the start of my Jojo fandom. They start with the N'dol fight and cut out about half of the rest, so the N'dol fight and this next fight are some of my favorites because they were animated way back when.

Jeremy White

Watching luke have a mental breakdown really made my day XD

Kanogawa_Hiro92

I said this already in the last episode, but I'll say it again, I don't use my brain when I watch Mr. Bean. Why does everything need to make sense if it's entertaining? And clearly, you haven't seen much anime if you think this is weird.

kuuhaku15

Glad this is over, now get ready for peak

Slipstream

The first time is going to be the worst time for most people. We'll just call it culture shock. Anime can sometimes really challenge the viewer. These Japanese authors and mangaka can really push the boundaries sometimes. So newbies like Luke likely have no previous references for this type of stuff. it's also likely to cause him psychological distress. Where as a veteran viewer of anime my not even blink at what's happening as it's umpteenth time they've seen this plot point. But Luke, he's going to need a moment. We all know anime is an abyss. Clearly Luke is now coming to grips with this inescapable fact. So we will all need to give him some time to adjust. As we all know he must. After all, the abyss beckons all that should cross it's path. Have no doubt, Luke will heed the call. Luke will know the darkness. TL;DR: Cassandra's prophecies from season 5 of Danmachi now applys to Luke. :D

Slipstream

Luke seems to be coming to terms with the reality of Japanese anime. I'm sure he was not mentally prepared for this. lol Some go in head first, other feet first. Either way is entertaining to watch. :D

みるてん

You have shit on your hand when you wake up?

MK Gamer

33:50 maybe its not normal in UK but in middle east its normal, im from saudi arabia and this happen a lot and its not big deal at all

0upcoil

I’m from Saudi Arabia and I think it’s weird if someone did this to my child

yorozuyapetel

slipstream, if you've never seen monogatari, this is the nisemonogatari effect. (i just came up with this) nisemonogatari is so fucked and weird that when equally weird shit happens later on its not seen as nearly as weird

yorozuyapetel

this show really prepared me for the rest of anime... posting this before watching the episode and honestly wondering if i should just skip to the next reaction and not watch this one again

Aiko

These Jojo apologists in the comments lol. No, it is not a normal Japanese thing to do what was done, not all anime even leave the kid parts uncensored but they can get away w it bc a kids part is not technically considered a sex organ and not drawn accurately so, at least back then, it wasn't a big deal as now. Yes, I like Jojo but don't make up weird shiz to make it make sense lol Source: A translator who has studied the culture and used to live in Japan and visited many a place there,This arc was annoying and Jotaro is oblivious whats new x>
