Celest represents, imho, all the parents who do not know what to do with the child who isn't what they expected be it children who are special needs or LGBTQ +. Instead of accepting them and loving them for who they are, they teach them to mask and hide who they are. Even if they don't realize they are doing it. I believe that Sony Pictures Animation has managed to surpass many Disney musical movies of the past decades with this movie. So many good songs, such a great animation style, such an emotional story. If Sony and DreamWorks keep cooking like with Spider-Verse, The Wild Robot and The Last Wish, they will earn the hearts of the children of this generation instead of Disney.

The movie was super good. The only flaw I saw was the rushed ending. The movie could have used 20-30 minutes more. What's the point of building a narrative about how being a demon isn't inherently bad, but still end the movie with all the demons sealed behind a barrier again? I REEAAALLY hope there's a sequel that properly explores this. Also I really hope there is one because I really need more of Mira, Rumi and Zoey Also I agree Celine was a terrible parent figure. Telling a child that they should hide a deeply traumatic thing from her closest friends - ones who could provide the biggest, much needed support - was an insanely stupid idea.

1:25:00 i mean from, a reaction perspective yes, its frustrating but from the character point of view, they have been constantly broken to NOT show weakness because of cultural and generational trauma, it is unfortunately too common in the world nad very realistic. that's how rumi was conditionned even when she didnt want to lie to her friends, she was made to feel shame for who she is and that no one would like who she is

I love that you reacted to the whole movie before you listened to any more of the songs. So there are a few theories about Jinu and him possibly coming back for a second movie. One theory has to do with Sussy the bird and Derpy the tiger. Something about how they are still around and in some way connected to Jinu meaning he is still there. Another theory is his soul is now connected to Rumi and so they will find a way to come back because of that or something. To be honest there are a lot of theories that both make sense and don't so take any of them with a pinch of salt. There is also the possibility that some of the Saja Boys are still around. We only saw Abby getting defeated and maybe Mystery (that one is a maybe because there is a theory he might have escaped), but we never see Baby or Romance getting hit at all. So at least those two could be around still and we still have the mystery of who Rumi's father was and how he and Rumi's mom got together. There is a lot of mystery that I hope will be explained in a second movie. I don't know if a second movie is official or not, but I have heard a lot of rumors about one. Not that it is in the works or anything, but that there was a mention of a second movie. Like I said I haven't heard anything OFFICIAL. Fingers crossed for a second movie.

Never have I watched a movie so many times then watched people react to it, this movie is so good I love it sm, every song a hit, love the characters, and it’s just so good. Hope this become a franchise and we get a directors cut for the rumored 3 hour version that they had to cut down. Would also love to see this in theaters and have the singing VAs do concerts😭

(Sorry in advance for this long message, lol!) A couple things to note about this movie is: 1. The singers for all the songs are different from the voice actors. 2. Neither the singers of Huntrix nor Saja Boys are currently in actual bands/groups, but a lot of them do produce their own music as solo or for other groups. And 3. TWICE only has 2 songs in this movie (one in the background, called "Strategy", and their own version of "Takedown" which they sing in the credits.) The singers for Huntrix are Ejae for Rumi (the purple haired one) who was a song writer for some Kpop groups such as Red Velvet, TWICE, aespa, and NMIXX. Audrey Nuna for Mira (the pink haired one) who is an American R&B singer and rapper. And Rei Ami for Zoey (the black haired one) who is an American singer and songwriter who is originally from Seoul. The singers for the Saja Boys are Andrew Choi for Jinu (black haired guy) who is a songwriter for a TON of KPop groups, such as EXO, NCT 127, NCT U, SHINee, TWICE, Red Velvet, GOT7, etc. Neckwav for Abby (pink haired guy that's all muscular) who is a vocalist and producer who makes his own music. Danny Chung for Baby (the blue/teal haired one) who is an American-Korean singer and songwriter. Kevin Woo for Mystery (the white haired one) who is a singer and TV Host for the program "After School Club" and is a former member of the KPop groups XING and U-KISS. And SamUIL Lee for Romance (the pink long haired one) who worked with KPop groups NCT Dream and Seventeen.

Im SO glad you reacted to this! I initially had the same reaction "Kpop Demon Hunters?.... OKay." And then I freaking loved it. And I've been listening to the music non-stop! I especially liked that the ending, ei Jinu sacrificing himself, was unexpected, as sad as it is. I was definitely like the fans from the signing event and totally shipping them. LMAO! (ALSO, apparently a sequel, while not official, is not off the table, so cross your fingers!) I'm glad you enjoyed the movie Luke!

Luke I got just as teary eyed as you, and that final song was just the perfect finisher. The thing about Jinu giving Runi his soul is like the whole Buddhist cycle of reincarnation. He was stuck in an undying purgatory hell but now he is "free" to restart a new better live. So he technically is still alive.

Ahhh I see, reminds me of in my literature class I turned in an assignment where the mc dies. I was more obvious with my intention where I explicitly mentioned that the mc was looking forward to reincarnating, but at the end I didn't specify if he just died for good or reincarnated to leave it as an open ending of sorts. My teacher didn't get it though and thought I just killed him off and that's it haha I guess now I'm sitting in my teacher's chair while they were grading my assignment as I'm watching this and not getting it lol

Hi Luke just wanted to tell you the most accepted theorys on the saya boys tbat makes sense: 1. to get it out of the way Jinu's soul still being there somehow with Rumi is "confirmed" by his pets still being there, because as legend has it they stand by their master eternally. 2. The Saja Boys are most likely very new to demon hood and may even be recruited by Jinu himself. There is a picture we linger on in the doctors office with a boygroup that was probably pretty small and came to him for tonics also. The theory being that they became demons because of their wish to be famous in what they are doing whoch is also why they are walking kpop archetypes (the baby, the hot one, the romanic, the mysterious one). 3. Also Baby (the rapper) is still alive and didn't seem to be liked/paired up with/by anyone of the two groups. (Which could make him the new antagonist in pt. 2, maybe) Oh also not saja boys, just jinu: He was wearing the bracelet Rumi gave him and hos earing is the zipper that was on her throat (symbolic of him hearing her voice) Also saw a theory on Jinus character, as he's very morally grey for disney lol: 1. Trauma loop, he's contantly For 400 years! 2. It's probably not his fault. We know Gwi Mah gave him his beautiful voice and he was invited into the palace by the emperor for this. But the flashback doesn't match up with Jinu abandoning hos family as they were only pushed out at the gate by guards. And in that time it was a lose lose situation, because he also can't say no to the king or they would all be killed

The big thing that kept Rumi from opening up to Zoey and Mira is she was basically indoctrinated, as were they, than anything demonic was bad. Celine might be willing to protect her, but she has made it so Rumi firmly believes her friends will try to kill her if she reveals herself before the hunmoon is sealed because they are Hunters first.

That last bit (about Jinu having no choice) really smacks of self-justification. That’s one thing I like about Jinu’s character. Yes, he was a selfish bastard, but not once does he try to justify his behaviour or forgive himself. The only option he sees to end his suffering is to forget, which is still selfish. Only right at the end does he find another solution - redemption.

This was a movie that, when I heard of it, I knew it would be either really bad or really good and I'm so happy it was the later. One of my buddies and I synced up watching i t over the weekend while chilling in Discord, leading to two dudes in their late-30s/early-40s raving about how awesome this was. Is it weird that I kind of feel bad for Celine? I don't necessarily like her and I definitely don't condone how she taught the girls to hide their fears and insecurities, but I do feel sorry for her. I think she did try to love Rumi the best was she knew how given how she herself was indoctrinated in the life of demon hunting, but she obviously still struggled with it and never fully gave up her prejudices. We only know that Rumi's mom died, we have no clue how or what happened to their third member, and we don't know the circumstances surrounding Rumi's parents getting together, there could be parts of that that contribute to how Celine still feels about demons and hopefully we'll see that if they do a sequel. Also, I feel like Celine believes that by acknowledging negative feelings or entertaining the idea that not all demons are the same it leaves the hunters vulnerable to Gwi-ma, but in ignoring the negativity they were vulnerable to it anyway. I'm kind of glad that they made her character the way they did because if they did do a second movie then it possibly gives her character room for growth, not that Rumi needs to forgive her but maybe some healing could be done there. I know a lot of people hate Celine's character, but I just can't, I feel pity. I know people like her in real life and I hold out hope that they will change even if it seems unlikely but some times it does happen. I would like to learn more about her in a sequel or something, but honestly I will take any reason to have more of these movies lol. I'd watch a dozen of them and still want more.

I have rewatched this movie a gazillion times. So much symbolism everywhere! Soda Pop is such a bop and also so sinister, it's talking about literally "drinking their souls" and then the fact that Rumi is singing "No more hiding, I'll be shining // Like I'm born to be" in Golden as she's covering up her marks in shame is just *chef's kiss*

If I have to say the only thing bad about this movie is how short it is, there is a lot of rushed moments, which is so sad, because the story really has immense potential, but I heard the team working on the movie wanted to do a 3 hours long movie and Netflix refused, L move from Netflix tbh

Fun fact for you. Did you notice that her demon eye was foreshadowed in Golden? If you look closely, when she's on the bed and the light shines through the door... it's the exact colour and shading. Took me until the second watch to notice that one. There are so many hidden gems in the detailing.

Your reaction was almost as beautiful as the movie. The reason I love watching reactions is because sometimes you stumble upon someone reacting in the same way as you did. For a about two month now I am watching this movie almost every second day. I have never done this before with any other movie. It is just so beautiful and has so much rewatch value. I can't even tell why I am so into this movie. I am PRAYING that the next movie (there has to be a next one) is going to be atleast as good as this one. Enough said, I wish everyone the best!! 🌐❤

Back in 2016 at the age of 25 I was diagnosed with kidney failure, and spent 9 years on dialysis wasting away my life and my time. In December of 2024 I began the process to get listed on the Kidney Transplant list and the listing process is difficult even if things are going well, and they werent going well for me. there were many bumps along the road to getting listed. Well after a scare with cancer being discovered in the process that was thankfully caught early and removed They finally listed me and in June of 2025 I received my new kidney. Well, unfortunately the rough road was not done, I went through some dark times afterwards, new scars added to my body, i became very uncomfortable and self conscious about them where I couldnt even look at myself in the mirror. Then... this movie came out and I was like you, and I was like "wtf is this, I dont even know what kpop is really" and didnt watch it for a little while then did it out of desperation for something to watch. And it was exactly what I needed in a time where I was struggling with my mental and physical health. When "What it Sounds Like" came on I cried in a way that I hadnt, tears of understanding, of acceptance. I felt like that song was written for ME at one of my lowest points. It helped me stand up and accept me for me and get my ass in gear. Now i'm free of the chains of my disease and plan on making up for lost time, In October of 2026 I am taking my first trip out of the US as a celebration and i've decided to spend two weeks...... In South Korea. I love the food (grew up on it, a few close friend's mom's were Korean) So, i understand your tears at the end. You're 100% correct, its a song written for you, for me, for EVERYONE who needs that message which is far too many. Great reaction and thank you for letting those tears show.

I was disturbed at the beginning when I discovered him two years ago. I do not like pauses, and yes, sometimes he pauses at critical moments, and it could ruin the moment. But that's how he is and how he reacts, you either get used to it and keep following him as I do, or go see another reaction channel, there are plenty of them. But I love how he is genuine, and that's what makes his reaction good.

I waited long time to see this because of the title too and I should've know better, because i love "clody with a chance of meatballs". I also had to check the va for mira beacause she sounded like stpehanie to me too, but i associated her more with vaggie. And i also had to check rumi's va because sometimes she sounded to me just like auli'i cravalho, especially with the "aaaah" at the beginnig of the "what it sounds like" because it gave me serious moana vibes.

It’s always very frustrating to watch reaction videos when the protagonist is constantly hated. Whether I like the person or not or the character it’s just really hard to watch a reaction like that. And I know you have your own opinions for you’re also performing for other people who are going to pay you for your services.

Yeah, so many people want to absolve Jinu. What I adored about the discussion of shame in this movie IS the nuance. How it looks at the different ways shame traps you. Rumi carries shame for something she had nothing to do with, a shame that was instilled in her by someone else. A shame that was put on her by Celine. There’s nothing she can do to escape it, because it’s what not who she is that she’s been taught to hate. She can only erase her shame by banishing half of her intrinsic self. Jinu, on the other hand, carries shame he damn well earned. He feels bad because of guilt, because of choices he made. And he’s made his selfishness into his identity. He has to learn that (even after 400 years) he can still be more than his worst, most selfish self. He doesn’t get to decide he’s bad, and never have to make another decision. Every choice to be bad is one he could choose differently. That look at the two ways shame manifests goes away if we just turn Jinu into some innocent victim who never really had a choice in the matter. The man was willing to feed the world to Gwi-ma, just so he could stop feeling bad about himself. I don’t know how so many people just gloss over that fact while defending him, lol. This is not a good dude. The miracle is in Rumi showing him that that’s not ALL he is.
