This is how I see it. Sakura never had bad intentions with Naruto. As a 12 year old girl, she asked Naruto to save Sasuke, the boy she was in love with. And ever since, from her perspective, Naruto has fought and has been hurt countless times due to him chasing Sasuke "at her request". But in actuality, Naruto has been chasing Sasuke day 1 as well for his own reasons; because he wants to save him. (Despite being rivals, Naruto sees Sasuke as the only person he can relate to. They both have experienced loneliness and despair. Sasuke giving into hate. Naruto could have gone down the same path except he had people like Iruka.) She thinks she has been hurting Naruto all this time as he tries to fulfil his promise to her. So in this scene in the snow, with all of their friends in the village deciding to kill Sasuke, Sakura took the responsibility to try to persuade Naruto to stop pursing his promise to her. To save Sasuke. She tries to reject and hide her true feelings of still loving Sasuke, and decides the best way to do so is to tell Naruto she loves him and that he doesn't have to follow through with their childhood promise anymore. She really does mess up here by telling Naruto that she loves him, but she has not been emotionally manipulating him at all until this very scene. If anything, she feels guilty and thinks Naruto fights so hard for Sasuke thanks to his promise with her. She doesn't consider the fact that Naruto WANTS to save Sasuke for his own reasons too. So, long story short, Sakura is not manipulative beforehand, but she messed up bad here. She came in with good intentions trying to protect Naruto, but she did this completely wrong and hurts him in the process. Novel finished. Feel free to disagree. This is just my interpretation. And since people hate Sakura and I will get hate for my perspective, I won't bother reading replies to this. And have to say after watching more of the reaction, this might be my least favorite reaction from Luke of all time. He was so sarcastic and made so many jokes. Yapping over dialogue and not trying to understand things or putting any thought into really anything. Like he didn't react on an emotional level. It just felt like he wasn't caring at all. I would rather spread positivity, but waiting for 2 weeks? This was a bit disheartening, not going to lie. I could write like 7 more novels on my thoughts, but I will just continue to quietly suffer through the rest of the reaction. lmao. Hopefully he will be more invested next time.

Yeah. I see people always hating on Sakura for this, and I'm just done engaging with the hate. Because at the end of the day, this is a narrative that is meant to add complexity to the main character. Her "confession" had good intentions but bad execution, and doesn't that also add realistic flaws to her character? We all do dumb shit. But man, the amount of hate that she gets from this... its so tiresome already.

look bro is not that deep. People LOVE to "hate" characters and people love to "love" characters. It's fictional media. Within fictional media the viewers 10x their emotions compared to real life. You wouldn't have that type of hate for real life people. Just accept that people externalize and multiply their emotions for characters and it's perfectly normal within "entertainment" media to have strong emotions. It is NOT ok outside of entertainment media.

It was just her coming to the realization that she may be a burden on Naruto with that whole "promise" thing, thinking that her love for Sasuke is whats driving Naruto to go after him, and so she is trying in her own foolish way to un-burden him. People hate on her so much for this, but dammit, its not that unreasonable. Calm down, people. I think people just were looking for another excuse to hate her character.

It is both. She IS growing as a character by realizing that she hasn't been much of a positive contribution a lot of the time, and has often been making things harder for Naruto. But her response is foolish to the point of being as harmful as what she had already been doing. It's emotionally manipulative and self-centered and all about trying to immediately alleviate her guilt rather than actually *contributing* something ("I'm gonna solo Sasuke!!!" is absolutely not contributing something when you have a 0% chance of success, btw). Its why I prefer to call Sakura badly written rather than a bad character. She has character growth, motivations, etc, they're just... shitty and average and poorly considered compared to the heroism and exceptionalism of the other shonen characters she's surrounded by. In a slice of life high school drama where every character feels like they're making normal kid/teen choices and inconsiderate mistakes, I'd overlook it a lot more easily than when she's the third member of a main trio where the two boys have nearly divine powers. She's written like much more of an average high schooler, but she's surrounded by superheroes, and it makes her look horrible unfairly often. It ALSO makes her mistakes (and decisions in general) feel a lot more relatable to people's IRL experiences so its more likely to trigger associations with people's actual experiences with inconsiderate choices they've experienced. Never had to deal with a best friend turning evil after their sibling murdered their entire extended family, but I've definitely dealt with people who used perceived romantic interest to manipulate friend group dynamics. I actually think people get upset about this not because they're looking for excuses to hate her so much as we were enjoying her developing into a stronger and more significantly contributing character, and the sudden major backslide being passed off as character development is pretty disappointing.

i'd say 70% of the time he ignores the helpful messages and I have yet to see him read a message in chat correctly, he either starts from the middle of a sentence of misreads words. also i have watched shows with other people and you have to go out of your way on purpose to miss stuff. if he truly enjoyed a show the would actually want to watch it

Kishimoto really can't write women. If Naruto gets a reboot anime after Boruto, I hope we get a better written female cast. Sakura, whose family has no ninja tradition, may feel an urge to prove herself as a ninja to the great ninja clans, turning her initial dislike for Sasuke into childhood love after learning about his family loss. Then it's less like a stupid crush but more of an understanding which would improve their connection a lot. She may also have focused on taijutsu earlier due to her perfect chakra control, which allows her to be stronger. Ino also needs an offensive jutsu, possibly from her mother's family. A kind of flower jutsu would suit her quite well, even if it is a bit cliché.

Well, honestly, after reading through tons of previous comments, I realized that what others have said about Sakura is pretty much exactly what I wanted to say too. So I don’t think I need to add much more. Simply put, Luke tends to oversimplify things. And to be honest, watching a show while streaming on Twitch really cuts down his focus—probably by half. Sure, the chat sometimes helps point things out when he misses them, but there are also moments when the live chat influences his emotions and steers his thoughts in a certain direction, especially when it comes to Sakura. I still remember how early on, Luke was already affected by the idea that Sakura was useless—even before really getting into the story. Because he wasn’t fully focused, he didn’t connect deeply with the characters’ thoughts and actions. That led to misinterpretations and completely off-base assumptions—like in the beginning of the video. It’s clear that Luke is watching Naruto mostly because people asked him to, and maybe also because of Naruto Uzumaki’s positive energy. But in the end, this is still a genuine reaction. So we can just take it as a different kind of perspective—something fresh to watch. Let’s just enjoy it and relax.

Honestly... I am not sure if i want to life in a world where Tailed Beasts and people with Pain's or Madara's powerlevel could run around, destroying everything in their path. Not even mentioning some of the more horrifying jutsus, including mind control, using dead bodies and such. But then again... We would have access to the Shadow clone and Sexy Jutsu... So it may be worth thinking about it.

About Sakura. The way i interpret it, is that Sakura feels extremely guilty for apparently cursing Naruto with that promise of bringing Sasuke back to her. Bringing him grief and sorrow for years. A mindset put in motion by Sai during an earlier episode. So she decided to play the villain, as long as she can prevent Naruto from breaking down upon his attempt to save Sasuke. Even if that means lying until Sasuke get's eliminated by the villages and being hated by Naruto after learning the truth. She didn't know how else to persuade Naruto. Although... The only lie she told was that she stopped loving Sasuke and is loving Naruto. Everything else were her honest thoughts. She really meant the rest of what she said about Naruto and Sasuke at that moment. Something that's more clear in the manga than in the anime. It was a bad emotional decision, but also an understandable one. Unlike some other characters' bad decisions in Naruto, which were neither understandable nor with good intend... So not sure why people use this as the main reason for the Sakura hate. But apparently, Sakura is the only one who deserves hate for bad decisions, while characters like Sasuke, with a plenty of bad decision, are being praised the entire time.

The reason Sakura didn't tell the truth at the end was, that the truth would have likely urged Naruto to look for Sasuke ASAP and run head on into danger. Risking his own life and the lifes of everyone, if the Akatsuki get's the nine-tail. So Sakura didn't tell him and instead opted to look for Sasuke herself and kill him before Naruto get's a chance to look for Sasuke.

That's what i am always saying that Luke shouldn't just skip every single filler. Just because they were not in the manga, doesn't mean that the don't belong to the story/lore. ESPECIALLY fillers like the Utakata, Fu and Asuma episodes, where we get to see important CANON characters, which will be referred to later on. Many fillers are based on official infocards and other sources beside the manga. But of course... Like missing the Hokage vote, Asuma's relation to the Temple Monks and the Twelve Guardian Ninja (which are canon) and Utakata and Fu's canon role and personality. He is gonna be so confused when it's mentioned that Naruto knew Utakata and Fu...

So, I am sure that Sakura has actually realized that she does have feelings and does not want Naruto to ruin his life for something he will not succeed. How strong those feelings actually are etc, I have no clue. However, she approaches it from a perspective that is still quite self-centered; she assumes that the only reason he does it is because of her, but I have a feeling that he made the promise to her because he loved her, not just because of her. But she thinks she was the root cause, and the only cause. And then she values her own worth for Naruto quite highly. I think she really does come from a good place and does it for his sake, and not really for selfish reasons, but she should have talked it out with him. And even though I am defending Sakura here, this is when she kinda died to me, she stopped being my favorite here. But I just wanted to say something fairer than what most of the community does, which is forgive every single action that Sasuke makes, while judging Sakura for every single little mistake she makes

Sakura was absolutely in the wrong here, but it came from a place of wanting to protect Naruto. She feels responsible for putting that burden on him and wants to take responsibility for that. Obviously, she cares for Naruto a great deal, just not in the romantic way. Even if she's lying about her feelings, she was ready to give up on Sasuke and be with Naruto. But the issue is... she doesn't respect Naruto enough to tell him the truth. Something that would hurt him. She tried to manipulate him instead of respecting his autonomy to make his own decisions regarding Sasuke. And when confronted, dug her heels in because... she's a stubborn teenage girl. Sakura did a bad thing here, but I by no means think she's a bad character or a bad person because of it. I personally think she's more interesting than Hinata because she actually has flaws and complex writing.

Nope, if she felt responsible, she would’ve said what she did in the episode, aka, “You can forget the promise you made to me,” without lying to Naruto. Instead, she told Naruto something like (the way it came across was), “I’m not responsible for you going after Sasuke, and whatever happens isn’t my fault.” Even if she didn’t mean it that way, everything points to her doing this just so she wouldn't feel responsible and could feel better. Also, she is a bad person because of it (the episode directly shows why), and the fact that someone like Naruto even implied he hated how she acted, or people like her (if she truly wasn’t joking, which she wasn’t), proves that. Though she still has some good traits, that’s about it. In short, even if we assume she did it to protect Naruto, which no logic can explain, it still seemed, from any perspective, like she just did what was best for herself, to stop feeling responsible after what Sai told her.

It's because of nitpicky people like you who are always angry whenever he accidentally mispronounces something, so he just purposely mispronounces it to annoy you all even more. People have accents; they're not going to be perfectly pronouncing and using correct diction on syllables all the time.

Yeah he doesn't understand Sasuke's character. It makes quite sense why he is the way he is but people don't want to understand because then people have to face the complicated inner side of someone and they can't even deal with themselves. Sasuke is in fact the most misunderstood character not in the way that "He's right" no, I mean the character itself is completely misunderstood. You like being proved wrong? Well.. Many people don't get Sasuke's character. And it's a bit annoying when it gets to the point of "He's a poorly written character" is wrong. You can dislike him and should dislike him but to say that he's poor written shows how misunderstood his character arc is. Again Naruto plays with the emotions of it's viewers - No one at this point would try to understand Sasuke but Naruto does just like no one could forgive pain and break the cycle of hatred. To understand Sasuke's demise we have to understand what made him live in in the first place: His whole entire meaning in life was based on the fact that Itachi is the absolute evil and he needs to get revenge for his clan. However when it turned out that Itachi was actually forced to make a brutal decision and the village political leaders were behind the massaker he loses his whole meaning. No wonder why he got down that path, no one would return to the village where "you grew up" like nothing happened. Everything you believed was wrong. Sasuke is lost - as he often says "In darkness" To get revenge on the village is understandable if you think about that all the people still think that Itachi is the evil one, of course he wanted that but Sasuke didn't wants that. Sasuke should have never learned the truth from Madara, because then he would have just returned from his revenge and completed his whole life goal But Madara told him the truth and that's the point. There are a lot of videos explaining this phenomenon about people misunderstanding Sasuke's character and actually say he's the best written. If you already watched the whole anime you should check them out

At the end of the day, Sai and Sakura both had good intentions with terrible execution, and are we surprised??? They’re teenagers and one of them literally learned about feelings a month ago! But like Sai explains, I think the logic behind Sakura’s confession makes sense, it was just badly written, and I absolutely think they did it on purpose for shock value. There’s really no other reason to have Sai come and give exposition *two episodes later* when they could have easily just shown more of her internal struggle in the first place. But one other thing I wonder after seeing this arc several times is if Sakura half expected her plan to fail and went ahead with it anyway because she hoped that if she couldn’t get Naruto to give up on Sasuke, then if he at least gave up on HER, it would hurt him less when he found out she killed Sasuke (or died trying).

I don’t think people who didn’t grow up with siblings close in age really get it. I grew up with a brother just 2 year apart. Do people really expect me to greet him every day with a big smile and always be nice? Absolutely not. We fought constantly, he once broke my finger and I made him puke after beating him up. But at the end of the day, if anyone else tried to mess with me he’d be the first one to step in and smash that guy. I don’t always get along with him but if he fails at something I’m probably the one who gets the most pissed about it.

So yeah......You still think Sakura is better than Karin? Wait till you watch ( if you will do it) Karin's backstory....Sakura is the worst character in this show. and I am sorry, but she just fits Sasuke, they are both acting unreasonable throughout the whole show , they deserve each other.

i was in similar situation as Sakura. I have suicidal friend whom i treated as brother (as sakura thought about naruto naruto here), and i said o love him to save his life. Was that bad? Yes. But i saved his llife so it was worth it. And hinata isnt best girl she has obsesion. She doesnt care about anyone except naruto. She is mental.
