There's a bunch of isekais that either ends with the MC going back or the MC going back somewhere in the middle. Even when these ones gets an anime though it would take a lot of seasons to get there.

As a trivia about "returning to original world", not exactly an anime, but a game (visual novel), Muv-Luv Alternative (3rd game in the series), the main character temporarly returns to his original world after almost having a mental breakdown in the "other" world, but since that world (post-apo alien war) was so different from his original (regular high school life) and after he got so used to the other world, he found it impossible to acclamate and interact with his friends, which along with a heavy spoiler reasons, made him go back again to the other world, but it was really intersting seeing someone who got used to living heavy military life in the world ending scenario, temporarly return to his peacful japanese life, but no longer being able to fit in

Realms collided. Shadow got transferred over to the other one, and magic seeped into his old world. Probably throwing everything on it's head, with new power and probably monsters.

We are all waiting for the upcoming "Eminence in shadow: Lost echoes" movie (it's basically Season 3 from what i heard). We don't know when it will come out, but possibly next year since we had the trailer for it directly when Season 2 ended. Super HYPE

Luke, since you watched Overlords Ple ple pleiades, there is something similar for Eminence in shadow called "Kagejitsu". Then there is also a Halloween collab, between Ple ple pleiades and Kagejitsu (Shadow and Ainz switch places)

No, he gave Mordred the rank of below Delta in terms of INTELLIGENCE! (Oooooh! Burn!) Honestly no idea if Delta would win this fight or not. I'm guessing not, but she is absolutely absurd, so who knows. Also, I strongly recommend watching the Kage-Jitsu shorts on the Kadokawa Youtube channel. Most importantly, they have an errata in the last one of season 2: Beta went through the portal with him. (Guessing this is a case of the storyboard writer not being up-to-date with the novels). They will probably clarify that at the start of the movie (release sometime next year allegedly, but no official date yet)

Another "returning to their original world" anime that comes to mind: Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero. Its premise is actually that high school kids are regularly summoned, complete their epic quest, and return to our world with their powers, so there is an entire school for them. Notably, this was written back before the current generation of isekai, with the protags never returning home. *old man voice* Back in my day, isekai protagonists returned to their own worlds. And we liked it!

True. Of course, it also used to be a lot more common for MC to return to their own world. It was generally their driving goal (or at least a major goal just below defeating the demon king, etc.). I kind of miss those, but I still love the modern power fantasy slop!

There is one isekai i can think straight out of my head where the premises of the anime is that the main character wants to return back to his original world and it is: Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest . It is pretty good show too, though the first season animation isnt the greatest, but it gets better with every season. I do recommend checking it out.

So several things with the last 5 minutes are going to need to be heavily ret-conned as they are anime only to end season 2 how season 1 started, ie Stylish Ruffian Slayer (now Shadow) saving Nishino from her capturers. Basically after Shadow gets sucked into the black hole, you can mostly ignore what happened other than the fact he somehow ended up in his pre-reincarnation world.

So worlds collided, Cid ended up in fantasy land, magic came over to earth. Though time must flow differently between worlds since Cid lived his entire life in the other world but in this world that girls barely aged. Somehow Cids atomic was so strong he made a black hole back to his world? Or was that the remnant of the portal and it just so happened to link between his world and Fantasy land? Also I love the fact that Cid is just a psychopath and doesn't even care about changing worlds or what's happened to this world. He just wants to aura farm and be the Eminence in Shadow.

Pretty sure this series is based on LN's so hopefully there's enough content out for more future seasons since I love the humor and want more! Such an underrated series.

Look up the kaji-jitsu s2 ep 12 to see some clarity for what the movie is gonna be, imo them putting it there wasn't good for story since many will skip the 2min shorts per ep.

Just an fyi. There’s a lot of anime where characters go back to their own worlds, go between worlds, etc. Your community just never votes for them because they’re not very great lolllll. I personally enjoy my isekai in a variety of flavors from moldy trash aged 10 years to the absolute cinema that is Eminence of shadow lol

Yeah i really liked that aspect of Zero no tsukaima, having the main character actively try to get back to his og world makes it instantly 10x more interesting

Few isekai did this, this is why for me the ending of s2 is better than s1. Finished on pure peak. Some anime that have elements of world travel or dimension travel: sword art online, Sasaki to Pii-chan, Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement , GATE, Yu Yu Hakusho, bleach, Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Isekai Shokudou (Restaurant to another world), 100-man no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatteiru

I didn't said they are isekai. I said it's anime that have world travel/dimension travel elements. In theory eminence in shadow is the only show where this kinda happens, he goes back with no means to go back and has full powers. There is an isekai called: Summoned to Another World for a Second Time. In that show he is isekaied finished the plot, comes back and then gets isekaied AGAIN into that same world . But when he went back to his original world he was a normal person with no powers. When he went back for the 2nd time in the isekai world, he had all the powers back.
