Angelo

Haven’t finish the video yet but as one of those 5 Re:Creators fans yes I have to say please watch it someday lol.

DRACO

22:05 Here we go again with the boy-girl friend story... Bro just dragging it at this point. lol jk

smth positive_

Not only the opening of The Summer Hikaru died is underrated but the Anime itself is too and you should 100% watch it. It’s one of the most well done horror anime ever made 4:20 it’s not uncommon for Anime from the 80-early 2000s to have surprisingly impressive 2d animation despite not being anime movies The Heavenly Delusion anime definitely is underrated of you compare it to other massive anime gotta call you out a bit bc you’re going against what you’re saying about underrated anime like 86 & hells paradise 🗿 7:13 nvm you got it lmao

seansky

Barakamon OP is real good, try it.

виина

59, yakuza fiance. Still waiting for you to react to the op

Hiruman

History Maker is underrated? lol.

Elexis

Hibike Euphonium is sadly such an unkown show :x

Nikkelz

Can confirm chain from air gear is a great OP. the entire soundtrack is amazing its basically all jet set radio style songs. if you wanna feel nostalgic for the 80s/90s skateboarder/rollerblade scene check out their music.

Artay

Arslan Senki spotted! I have been asking for reaction to its openings for quite a while! xD

Seryth

Fun is not the word i would use to describe Akame ga kill

Joshua Nguyen

I'm disappointed there no selector infected wixoss openings, last exile opening, and tenjho tenge opening

Thiago Serra

Hey, Luke, to be fair, you make your life listening to anime openings!! You will naturally know a lot! But many of these are not known outside some niches

Shendri27

That's a great list overall but a lot of openings are not underrated, just old, but was very famous at time of release.

WuXian Suibian

Centimillimental wrote/composed all the songs (not the OSTs) for the Given anime (1 season, 2 OVAs and 3 movies). The Anime is a music/romance/LGBTQ/drama. It was through the anime I became aware of their music. The music from Given was what they became known for but I listen to their other music. I look forward to your interview.

Recall

like yuri on Ice especially with it being one of the most popular during the 2010"s

Recall

"I heard Akame ga Kill is fun". Who is lying to you

davguev

I wouldn't consider Beck, Deadman Wonderland and Yamada-kun and the 7 Witches openings as underrated. It's really common to see them in compilations or rankings. Kalafina isn't a singer, but a band, with Kajiura Yuki as the leader and composer, plus three or four singers. Kakegurui's opening 1 is the one with the scene you refer to, not opening 2. Pleased to see Haruhi and Eizouken made it to the list. Sad to see Baccano! and Princess Principal didn't.

Bianca

Ergo Proxy does have fire songs BUT I'd argue the OP hits better because it's an English song by a Japanese group. <3 I haven't seen the whole list yet so I wonder if Duvet is here (from Serial Experiments Lain).

Gamefisher

There’s also the matter of the openings’ visuals and where in the animes’ stories the openings play. Even if the song is good, people may not care for the visuals, or if the opening is for a less popular arc of an anime then it’ll get less attention.

Kenny Vu

Gangsta OP and Ending are great songs Surprised I didn't see Terror in Resonance on this list I reccommend watching Bakuman - I feel like it was such a big show back then but it doesn't get a lot of discussion around it nowadays. Not sure where you could find it streamed though.

Alderanex

I appreciate about twenty of those OPs/songs, as they are on my playlists and some are amongst my favs. Whether that means they are under appreciated or my taste is not all mainstream, I don‘t know. Also I wonder if this list would be even more different between Japan and the West than the „best“ lists are? Still, I would put some other songs on here like Watch Me (Yoasobi - Witch Watch), Feel (Hitsujibungaku - Secrets of the Silent witch), or Zainin (GARNiDELLA - Übel Blatt), just f.e. But it‘s „good“ someone like BiSH is here twice (2, 84), after all that is Aina the END singing (btw. I have not seen Luke say he know this, or that she was Kyrie on the FIRST TAKE), and COLDRAIN, SiM and Yasuda Rei too (was lucky enough to see them three live last year). And regarding COLDRAIN, I would really like that interview, that concert was infectious. As for Anime recommendations, would be „fun“ to watch Summertime Render(ing) and The Summer Hikaru Died (Hikaru ga shinda natsu) in succession, so, please do ,-)

Gamefisher

Weird for that Naruto opening to be on the list considering thats one of the most popular arcs of the original Naruto anime.

MonographicSingleheaded

19:20 sadly Witch from Mercury is considered one of the weakest Gundam entries :) it is also a spin off in its own unique timeline. still, I recommend

MonographicSingleheaded

22:40 if she stopped being in touch because her boyfriend doesnt like you THAT IS EXTRA TOXIC. lol

MonographicSingleheaded

and I am talking about her boyfriend but hey, she aint better if she complies. lol

Morringhan

Beck anime is sadly underrated, only a few people knows it

Kye Bishop

You should check out the Barakamon opening and ed as well as inu x boku secret service op

Jujo online

Lol I was so happy your fav was on there and right after my pick "Moriarty the Patriot" came on lol!! So happy, I aprove lol But wait... did you react to Moriarty the patriot opening and endings? Because they're all really good even if you don't expect ed1's tone compared to the anime lol

idkwhy

The list is definitely cooking!

idkwhy

Need part 2 :D

idkwhy

I'm still waiting for Shangri-La Frontier reaction :)

Zer0

Who calms Deadman Wonderland OP is underrated? People love the OP over the damn anime!

Zer0

10:23 Radiohead was the ending.

mjaomjao2

Air Gear really deserves an opening and ending reaction.

Sian Richardson

As someone who bathroom (and latin) danced throughout my childhood, but not competitively, Welcome to the Ballroom wasn't very impressive and a bit of a let down. I wouldn't recommend it. The OP music is good though.

Slipstream

It's a shame we will never get a second season of Gangsta.

Slipstream

KyoAni gold. Love the movies. Luke seems to like drum corp. Maybe Luke would appreciate a story about high school band shooting for gold at the nationals.

Nikkelz

100% deadman was massively popular OP not sure why it was here. Eizouken I would also semi-disagree with didn't hit wide mainstream appeal but the song itself went everywere, heard it in supermarkets similar to ado/catseye situation. Baccano! though is a great op that I have tried to talk Luke into watching like 30x everytime he hears it he goes "I know this one" from the 50 compilations hes done XD it is in a TON of popular pics idk if I'd say underrated.

Kas samo

watch great teacher onizuka sub or dub i don't care

Maria Amado

Barakamon’s opening is so good. As is the anime. I genuinely think you would enjoy watching it.

Iron_claw

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE WAKE LUKE UP FROM HIS NAP HIS SCHEDULE THAT HE POSTED ON YOUTUBE SAID THAT THE HAIKYU STREAM WAS SUPPOSED TO START AT 3:30PM EST IT IS NOW 5 O'CLOCK EST WTF

Lu C

Please be considerate to others. Read the notes under the schedule It's says that Sunday stream is tentative, he had subathon yesterday which went into early morning hours for him Also all the schedule can change

Kyo Zenryu

After Luke's Bunny Girl Senpai reactions, I keep hoping for a Monogatari reaction. I think he would love and appreciate it for the amazing anime it is.

Ty L

Nice to see a few songs from 2000 to 2010 era, and a few from pre 2000. Focus is mainly post 2010.

Toukbird

You know, as an Oldtaku…I just have to say it…Haruhi Suzumiya should not be on this list. Back in the late 2000s, it was insanely popular and so was the OP. I mean yeah, there probably aren’t a whole lot of NEWER anime fans that know about it because the anime is almost 20 years old. I could name a ton of OPs from the 2000s that I’d consider more underrated than Haruhi’s OP. When I saw this video, I was expecting a few more obscure titles like Kamisama Dolls, Elemental Gelade, ef-a tale of of memories (and melodies), Hakkenden, Sankarea, I could go on… Idk, imo, if you’re doing a list like this, you shouldn’t be including any popular anime at all.

Mike Baker

I think Luke made an excellent point talking about some of these being overshadowed. This list should have been three separate lists: • Openings that were once popular but have been forgotten. • Openings that were overshadowed by others in the same series. • Great openings from shows that weren’t successful.

Dj

I wished they continued the anime

Kindyh Bordat

The problem with Gintama is that is INSANELY long, it's all over the place and most episodes aren't that funny. The main story is interesting but you will have to suffer a lot to reach it. (personally i gave up after 20 eps)

Kindyh Bordat

REACT TO GTO. The anime at 39 one of the most funny and at the same time emotional anime i ever watch. It's truly a gem

Yui

Speaking of giving more love.. Please reaction to Sound! Euphonium openings. 3 seasons. There's also some movie songs. There's all by TRUE. The first opening was #20 on this list and you looked intrigued.

Kindyh Bordat

Brother he live in the same time zone as me. Doing a stream at midnight can be complicated, especially when you have a wife and kids

Dj

BiSH ( black clover 2nd spot wohooo) i believe already disbanded. One of the members did the dandadan op 2, aina the end

Lu C

This is probably the best breakdown of the mixed classification of the OPs

Nikkelz

The main story is much deeper into the series then ep 20 sadly. Not everyone is gonna enjoy all shows so totally fair to have dropped it! ppl go into gintama assuming two things, its a battle shounen or its a comedy. the anime has a really strong cast of characters with great stories but like like 70% of the show are non-arc related gag episodes. they help you build a better depth with characters but are not to be taken at face value. Id Approach those episodes as your classic sitcom style, put them on when you want a laugh or your doin something else and need background noise. Lock in on when its a serious arc because they are 10/10. The humor though is very japan coded though so its very hit or miss with western audiences. Luke is very penis and fart joke coded though so kinda his jam...

Salieri

its indeed a great list, is a wonderful idea to bring light to those songs that often not that much talked about anymore. saddly my picks for underrated didnt show up ;-; , i'll leave them here for anyone that reasd this comment and might be interested in discovering new ones. Shadowgraph - Myth & Roid - Anime: Boogiepop and others Mind as judgement - Faylan -Anime: Canaan Halo - Tacica -Anime: Uchuu Kyoudai / Space Brothers Kago no Naka ni Tori - Yuanesu -Anime: Yesterday wo Utatte / Sing "Yesterday" for me there are actually many more but.. well if anyone is actually interested in more recommendations just reply this comment and shall give more

Moshi

Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches and Yuri On Ice are both in the top 100 tho... and the fact that Angel Beats isn't is outrageous

Moshi

ANIMA is also top 100

Dallio

One outs op not being on the list is absolutely criminal

davguev

You might be right about Eizouken, but I think it was kind of popular because it became a meme, not because of the song, but because of the video itself.

AinChase

#1 is Hunter x Hunter.. but wheres Ohayou? that opening is underrated as well

Kyle Garrett

Definitely an interesting list. Some of these were in that top 11-20 range for their season, so I don't know if they're necessarily underrated, but I guess it's just a matter of how you define underrated, since a lot of those same openings aren't remembered or thought about when you think about particular years / seasons of anime openings, so I guess that could make them underrated, even if at the time they were liked and acknowledged?

Aagii Munhuu

You heard akame ga kill is fun? 💀

Kyle Garrett

Gintama Fans are like Fate Fans. Both Fandoms are super passionate about their series, to the point it pushes people away from their series. With Fate, they want you to watch in a certain order, no exceptions. With Gintama, they want you to watch tons of series to understand the jokes and references.

Kyle Garrett

Some of these were also extremely mega popular during their era and also just forgotten about now, which is crazy to think about.

Keda

You really should watch Drifters

patros36

omg Kowloon Generic Romance is such an underrated anime overall, the series and op both. It was such a sleeper hit that season and tbh its one of my favorite animes last year. I originally dismissed it because of its "Generic" title but when i started i binged it almost all, had to wait for the rest of the episodes to finish. The mystery and the way its unraveled is really great.

ClerZz IMO

Still waiting for Undead Unluck reactions. Even if it takes a decade, I'll still be waiting.

Rahxe

Just the fact that KHR, and one of the best songs at that, was on the list. :')

Super Ryo Reacts

3:51 I've been popping in now and then when you do an anime opening compilation reaction, BEGGING you to do reactions to ALL of Slayers openings! Heck just go on a Megumi Hayashibara binge, she is a GODDESS of classic 90's anime. Sooo many opening and closing songs, sooo many of her own albums, and so, so many character's voiced. Blue Seed is indeed a TV series, had a few OVA's I think as well. The opening, well it was the 90's and rudimentary 3D CGI was all the rage.

Yuji

Dam the 60th place is 1000% highly underrated, some day haha...

dartcp

Yeah, I think I could watch Drifters again, it's been a year already and I can't miss my annual Drifters rewatch.

Illyasviel

Did not expect to see Karakuri Circus at 6, pleasantly surprised

BR

"Before we press play, what is number 1?" Drifters again, it deserves it

Barack O. Llama

all dr stone openings are super underrated (and the endings). definitely some of the best in the anime scene

Barack O. Llama

best op for me and 100000% underrated is fire force op 2 by cold rain. so peak

Kenneth Hoerz

Abingdon Boys School have some really awesome songs in there line up. My favorite has got to be "BLADE CHORD".

Sakura Minamino

Dude! I kept telling you to do Arslan Senki because I know you like Uverworld's music. Sure enough, the moment Arslan Senki popped up on the list you paused to rewind it.

Sakura Minamino

I do think you'd enjoy the opening songs from Air Gear, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Tokyo Majin, and Arslan Senki. And I hope if you ever choose to watch a sports anime, you watch Haikyu. Most people who don't like sports anime absolutely love Haikyu. It's so wholesome and you really get into the games.

Kenneth Hoerz

Also had to add in Re Creators is one of my fav's, but also #36 Air Gear Op, is TOP TEAR got to add it to your hype songs, plus Air Gear itself is fire.

thewizardninja

There are enough legendary anime songs that could be considered "popular when they came out but are unknown now because most Western anime fans only started watching anime 5 years ago" to fill an entire top 100 list of their own.

AM

I agree. He started watching haikyuu recently for his first sports anime. Ep 1-3 is on patreon. Streams every Sunday

Spikà

I swear there isn't a single list that includes the opening or ending to Yumekui Merry.

Lia

Soukyuu no Fafner openings, so underrated they didn't make it on the list 😔

RadzioxxD

I would definitely remove a few of these tracks from the "underrated" list, as there are other equally good but less recognizable tracks. Great Passage op should definitely be on that list, or Trapped in Dating Sim

ForEverAlone

I was so hoping for there to be any Hikaru no go opening in this list - those are really underrated and good

Hommyz1

The anime from this list that I fully believe need more love are Eizoken, Deadman Wonderland, Undead Unluck, Odd Taxi, and Nier Automata. You would absolutely love Eizoken and Undead Unluck for very different reasons.

Zarrowk

Was hoping for a Bleach opening in that list, cause everyone always speak (rightfully) about Randu no melody, Asterisk or D-tecnolife, but others are so good too. Didn't thought it would be the one from Yui, wa hoping for Ichirin no Hana (op3) or Velonica, but still like it.
