Rods, or Skyfish, are a real world cryptid, quite a lot of photos of them, they are basically a photography and video glitch caused by visual artifacts, they are generally created by insects.

Stand name: SKY HIGH ! Named after a song by the British rock band Jigsaw that came out on August 1975. The ability allows manipulating the cryptid Rods/Skyfish, for poor Rikiel though this ability has been a curse for most of his life causing him to suffer symptoms similar to neurological auto immune conditions, causing him severe anxiety etc. What Pucci did with Rikiel is drag his stand disk out in order to understand it and give that information to the user that is unaware of it, a handy way of showing what a person is unaware of themselves.

rumor is that lots of those random factoids and some of the stand mechanics that are in JoJo are because Araki would drink Snapple while writing JoJo, I don't know if you have it in the UK but the drink is known for having random trivia on the caps and some people say he got ideas like "injured parts of the body are cold" from those caps.

This just as the rods, finally free from Rikiels control find the riders and cause an accident . As I understand it the stand ability is only controlling the rods, the rods are the ones stealing body temperature as the fly close to their target

Nah Luke didn't listen to anything about the explanation of this dude's power, they literally said everything 🤣. They are living beings (cryptids, like Big Foot or something) that he just controls with his stand, he closes his eyes because when he is nervous he can't control his stand and the rods attack him.
