Man what an episode...

Jan Negrey

Maybe name it Episode 7 and 8? Cause I was confused as hell.

Harald Nassau

Episode 8 is a Masterpiece. What amazing Fight Scenes. The best Episode so far.

Cezar Cristian Ilisie

In my opinion, that general was way stronger than Stark, but the fact that the general hadn't fought anyone like Revolte before and that his companions were way weaker than him is what led to his demise. Stark won because he had Genau with him, whom I think is stronger than Stark and Starks battle iq also helped him a lot. So, maybe the general was way stronger than Stark, but he compensated with better teamwork, battle iq and sheer will. (and let's not forget the norm soldiers were fighting all three demons at the same time)

Nah, Serie just doesn’t want another one of her students to die. She just can’t tell people how she feels.

Russell Gambardella

Ahh classic adorable Serie: "So even you say things you don't mean." *Then proceeds to immediately say multiple things she doesn't mean*

DecoyBlackMage

Ah, no we do not have 4 episodes to go.....The season is just 10 episodes Luke.... So....... Yeah.... 2 to go..... "despairs on the ground" That is the listing for the blueray for this season. unless there has been any changes I have not heard yet. Understandable since the manga is currently on indefinite hiatus while they setup a better publication for it due to health issues for one of the creators, they are still making new chapters that have not been published for the record, but they are not publishing anything until then as far as I know.

It was Fern they couldnt detect. She hides really well her mana and because she has obviously less quantity of it than Frieren, she's able to be almost invisible

みるてん

no because they did said 3 First class mage.

Mericat

This is only a theory, but I think Frieren stayed out of the fight because she knew they couldn’t detect her and wanted to keep it that way. Remember, the whole reason she learned to suppress her mana in the first place was to fool demons. The minute she got involved and started casting spells, it would be tipping their hand. In the beginning I thought it was because they were going to have to face Revolte all together in a future episode, but now I wonder if she just knows something they don’t about what lies up ahead or maybe why these demons were here. Also, I love how this whole season has woven in appearances by characters we met in the mage exam. There’s just something really cozy and familiar and comforting about seeing old friends when you’re in a strange place. And it’s so fun to see their characters expand as well! Methode and Genau both had such small roles in the exam compared to some of the others we were introduced to, and they’re both REALLY awesome to get to know! There was something mentioned during the exam as well about how a lot of first-class mages are barely human, I think because a lot of the spells they wish for are for power or combat, and Genau’s wings were a very cool and unexpected example of that.

The German pronunciation of Methode is, roughly, meh-TODE-eh. Most Germanic languages dropped the "th" sound from Proto-Germanic, replacing it with a "t" sound. English is one of the few exceptions. Why it arose in Proto-Germanic only to disappear later on, I couldn't guess. It's a very rare phoneme among languages world-wide. Her name means "method", which may be because she approaches situations methodically. Genau means exact or precise, which so far strikes me as his manner of excising away all the fluff and getting to the core of any matter. Note how bluntly he speaks.

Thanny

30:58 You should start by getting the pronunciation of "pronunciation" right. There is no such word as "pronounciation". pro-NUN-see-ay-shun

Frentzy

Best episode so far of s2. It's also weird to say but I feel like the bar for animation just keep getting better. 10 years ago this might've been best fight of the decade, now it's just "top10 fight OF THE YEAR"

Jenny Rolandsson

Evan Call is an amazing composer. Frieren and Violet Evergarden among many others.

Poetinabox

About the number of mages they detected: The line was actually "Four mages and one warrior. Three of them are first-class." but the subtitles got it wrong.

Poetinabox

It's not that they didn't detect Frieren, she in actuality suppresses her mana to not even be counted as first class mage by the demons detection.

Sancturillore -- Élie Simard-Wallot

It's actually just a mistranslation. They said 4 mages in Japanese, but the subtitles only said 3. I've heard that the mistake isn't there for the Netflix version, but I've yet to check it myself to confirm it.

Dave M

my guess is the one they couldn't detect is fern. No one's got pure stealth mode like her

Thiago Serra

No, I mean, she is literally not first-class since she was reproved by Serie

Poetinabox

But how would the demons know that? It would indicate the demons have way of knowing who are 1st class mages and who are not, even without seeing them.

Poetinabox

They detected all 4 mages and 1 warrior. It was subtitle error.

Charlotte

Frieren let them battle alone becaus eI think she want them to be alright without her. If she help them all the time they can't experience and get stronger. But you know if they were almost killed she will be there to save them.

As a german its always so funny to see luke trying to pronounce all these german names. The names truly part of what makes frieren unique

Magic Fibre

Did you notice that Stark's finishing move against Revolte is the exact same technique Linie used when she copied Eisen during her fight with Stark? It really reframes that earlier moment. When Stark fought Linie, he believed they might end up killing each other, and the attack she imitated from his master only barely cut into his side. But when Stark used that same move himself in this episode, it completely bisected Revolte. It highlights just how much resolve Stark had in that first fight to stand his ground against what he believed to be Eisen's power and how weak Linie actually was in comparison.

EienTakara

Luke forgetting that Frieren had Fern run from a fucking dragon on foot in s1 🤣

rarebearvt

imo Serie is not wrong, she's a tsundere, she'll never admit to liking her students, she's lying on purpouse and Genau is doing the same

Tailmon

I didn't like how people with a hole punched through their chests continued to talk, run, jump, and fight the demon. In the "Jobless reincarnation" it was very realistic when, in the same situation, the victim couldn't breathe or speak, but simply fell over and died in agony until he was healed by magic

nein danke

But Fern is also surpressing her mana like Frieren, so it can't be the mana. Maybe they have an human informant who is giving them Information. It was mentioned that humans worked for deamons in the past with the sword that the the sword demon stole.
