I have hay fever too 😭😭😭

Rime_Draws

AHHH why do my headphones have to be dead NOW? 😭 I'll be back in thirty minutes. Can't wait to watch your reaction! I love this one more than the first and that's saying something

Ara Araragi

Hints in the first movie that Fiyero would become the Scarecrow: -Elphaba tells Fiyero to "Get stuffed" when they first meet -Fiyero sings a whole song about how "Life's more painless for the brainless"

Golden Witch Beatrice

Madam Morrible, MM 👵🏼flip it 🔄 around WW Wicked Witchhhhh🧙🏽‍♀️ - Michelle Yeoh throughout 2025

Kindred Tatum

The stage play's second act (which "For Good" is adapting) is famously extremely short at a 45 minute run time, so this movie went a long way in expanding on that material.

harvs 🎀

what i love is that galinda clearly doesn't love fiyero romantically (i mean she's a lesbian so she can't yk) but that was the only person who understood how much she loved and missed elphaba and they both just ran away together without her and from her like they didn't care about her at all

Aaliyah Fountain

Luke!! I always laugh at how spot on u are with the story line 😂😂😂 “she’s going to explode him”

The stage version does not have these opening scenes or songs. It begins with "Thank Goodness". "No Place Like Home" & "The Girl in the Bubble" are not from the stage version. They were written especially for the movie adaptation. 6:15 did you spot the flying monkey to the right of Madame Morrible wearing the remnants of Galinda's pink jacket that they ripped off her during the first movie when they were smashing through the windows trying to grab her & Elphaba 😂 Galinda calling Toto "Dodo" made me laugh out loud in the cinema🤣🤣🤣

Calidreamboy

Suggesting again that we go down the Ariana Grande rabbit hole and explore her musical career, you’ll love it!!!! It’s one of the best journeys to embark on

Marez Canvas

I would love to recommend you react to them singing “For Good” live. it’s beautiful!!!

Sue Norrell

Also the way he danced during Dancing Through Life…

JustinCase Reacts

In the stage play Nessa is able to walk usually when Elphaba casts that spell but for the movie the actress Marissa Bode (Nessa) is actually disabled in real life and can't walk. So they decided in this case to have her floating in the air. Notice the cracks in the glass Elphaba has done they are in the shape of the witches hat. Cynthia worked with Jon (director) and some others on designing the perfect broom for her to use. They added two new songs for the movie that's not in the original stage play. The first was "No Place Like Home" that Cynthia sang and the other one was "The Girl In The Bubble" that Ariana sang. A small part of me felt bad for Glinda at the wedding only because deep down I know she loves Fiyero and Elphaba, but I don't feel bad only because she decided Fiyero's fate from the first film. Right before popular she said her and Fiyero are getting married but "he doesn't know it yet" and the same happened in this movie announcing their engagement in front of everyone without him even knowing or having a say in the matter? That is where I don't feel bad for Glinda. Fiyero and Elphaba loved each other the first time they saw each other in the forest the first time they met. Wicked Part 1 was about decisions and Wicked part 2 (aka For Good) is about the consequences from the decisions. Not all are going to be happy ones. Part 2 was meant to be darker than the first. Ariana intentionally prepped for this role vocally to be able to sing more operatic. She did amazing in her vocal evolution. When you said push her out the window about madam Morrible (or horrible as I call her) it was nice foreshadowing lol. The ending was beautiful and sad for so many reasons. Your reaction to Elphaba being alive was everything. Also my fav scene was the cat fight scene with Elphaba and Glinda. So funny. Ariana made me laugh so hard when she mimicked her cackle lol.

Eamber

I KNEW THE ENDING WOULD BRING YOU JOY!!!!!!!!

KuroKuni

What kills me still is that the scene at the end with them on either side of the door was apparently improvised during rehearsal and carried through to the final production. They really just stabbed us in the gut with that (I love that scene SO MUCH)

Leslie Nick Haver

Watching you experience these two movies has been a joy. I am constantly amazed at the acting. Many times no words were needed because every emotion showed on their faces. Even Jeff Goldblum when he realizes Elphaba was his daughter. No Good Deed literally had me with my mouth hanging open the whole time. Visually and vocally stunning. The staging for it was a masterpiece! That second “Fiyero!” just ripped through my soul.

Jamie

Yessssssssssssss!!!!

Ameth

Wizard of Oz is told through the persepctive of the child dorothy and i think the way i think of this is all the adult themes went competely over head. She had a magical adventure with some people and missed all the nuance and plot of what was really going on lmfaoo

Vera

You wouldn't believe the things Ariana does live. You should look into some of her stuff, I feel like you would love it.

Ameth

*Luke sobbing, takes a deep breath* "DOES THIS HAPPEN IN THE PLAY" *keeps crying*

Ameth

fk wicked for introducing the concept that glinda watched elphaba die from behind a closed door holding back tears

Ameth

"why would throwing water on someone kill them" exactly the type of ridiculous rumor the people of Oz and child Dorothy would believe!

Stacey A.

2:12: 13 I would love for you to react to Ariana Grande's voice impressions. I believe it's on the tonight show. Also, if you could react to her episode on SNL. She did an amazing job.

Fay X84

The same principle as “Water can flush toilets” 😎👍

Claws

Love to see react to Ariana Grande and Cynthia's singing live. It really is something special.

Glen Haslerud

I’m certain this story has changed me on a molecular level. In my whole life, I’ve never related to a character more than Elphaba. The story is such a surreal parallel to real life, and I’m still stunned the play debuted in 2003 because it’s more relevant than ever. It actually makes me cry every time I see the play or watch the movies, probably because the weight of the world is just too much and it’s perfect escapism. It’s cathartic every time in every medium for me, and seriously the music is insanely good - like God-tier good. It makes the viewing experience even more enjoyable and pierces the soul in a way I can’t describe. So thank you, because your reaction to these two movies was pure joy to watch! It makes me want to be your friend. 🥹

SJC123

Listen to other songs sung by Ariana and Cynthia. Cynthia is unbelievable.

Tasia Dey

You made my weekend...2 weeks in a row. I feel like we were in the theater together. Your reaction of Part 2 definitely hit home as I felt the same at the end. Hope your back is feeling better.

aurora

if you love their voices you NEED to react to the special "wicked: one wonderful night"

Stacey A.

I would love to see your reaction to the movie "The Wiz" 1978, it's a black version of the Wizard of Oz. Michael jackson is the scarecrow. Diana Ross is Dorothy.

Tinkerdoodle

It’s based on a book by Gregory Maguire. He did a few books where he flipped the perspective of a few well known villains to show “how” they came to be villains. Not actually connect to the original book. Makes you think though.

Emily Jewett

No good deed broke me in the theaters, being fully immersed in the story and feeling that grief as if she couldn’t save the man she loved and losing all her hope. That’s when I teared up.

Caroline Vitanza

Thank you for letting me live this with you!!! For me this is such an important story and it means so much to me in my life. For all the times I've seen the film and all the times I've seen it on stage, it's always the most bittersweet end and it always ends with me in tears. It's an indescribable feeling. I wish I could be there to hug youuuu because I'm crying too!!! HARD!!! Much love to you Luke and I can't wait for you to watch more musicals.

Ara Araragi

2:25:34 Dorothy, listening to Glinda and Elphaba sing "For Good" from downstairs: "Oh my God, will you two just bang already?!"

aggieeggs

Aw i love your reaction to both movies! Watching this in theaters was terrible but I'm glad you enjoyed it

Japania

That's why l love watching movies and animes with you. You are so genuine. You're not afraid to cry or laugh and we can tell that you are really having a good time. I'm so glad you loved Wicked 1 and 2. Such a good movie, with amazing cast, songs, sets and singers.

2026-09-07 01:00 To be fair, the Wicked book (on which the play was based) changes a lot from the original Wizard of Oz story because it's not an official version. For example, Elphaba being alive at the end, her relationship with the Scarecrow/Fyrero, and several other things don't happen in the original story! So it's really a bit confusing when you try to connect some things between the two stories.

i love your love for elphaba. i really hope you get to see the musical live with your family one day it’s such a joy!!

mateo duran

Sad to think that Glinda will never know thst Elphaba is alive🥀

fry

yes!! the one with kristin and idina

Laurasr618

Omg Luke you should do some Ariana reactions, or some of Cynthia and Ariana performances together. Even if you reacted to the wicked one night, only special that would be great!! You would love

When I tell you the song No Good Deed broke me so much. The level of desperation and frustration in that song spoke to my soul, I related so much to that song. Wanting those you care for to be safe, feeling powerless, feeling enraged, feeling lost, and that 'damn it all, you've won, I don't care anymore' feeling that she exudes when she gets into the chorus... I love that song just as much as 'Gravity' and as a fan of the Oz books (there were more than just the Wizard of Oz) I love this movie so much! Thank you for sharing this emotional experience with us :)

Emma Floyd

Now that you’ve seen the final part of Wicked, they eluded to Fieyro’s fate in the first movie. When Elphie meets him for the first time in the woods and walks away she tells him “no thanks, get stuffed.” He’s also standing there with straw sticking to him in that scene.

Ara Araragi

Yeah, Wicked the musical is loosely adapted from Wicked the novel, which is a reimagining of a combination of the original L. Frank Baum novels and the 1939 film adaptation. The plot points aren't going to all line up neatly, and that's fine.

The Wiz is definitely worth checking out. Starring Diana Ross & Michael Jackson. Music by Quincy Jones.

Lindsay Arhar

Ugh these movies will always leave me in tears! So glad you enjoyed them. Highly suggest One Wonderful Night, and also Im Here bootleg on youtube by cynthia erivo from the color purple.

I absolutely loved your reaction to both movies! I've been watching your channel for about a year now and came straight here to subscribe when you announced you were watching wicked, what a joy its been to watch you go on your musical movies journey :) I've loved the stage production since 2011 and these movies gave me a new appreciation for the story. They transformed it beautifully to film, the practical sets are phenomenal! I highly recommend watching Making Wicked (2024), it shows a lot of behind the scenes and what went into the creation of the movies, plus there are several other shorts and featurettes. The original broadway show is 2 hours and 45 minutes long in total. So when watching the stage show, it is a lot more fast paced, there are differences but for the most part, the main story is the same. But the stage, sets and singing are gorgeous and I highly recommend it if you are able to go see it. The songs "No Place Like Home" and "The Girl in the Bubble" are not part of the original soundtrack and they did change the arrangements of songs in the second movie more noticeably. Also recommend listening to the original soundtrack :) There are so many easter eggs from the Wizard of Oz movie, I've listed some below if anyone is interested :) (I'm sure there are plenty others I missed). Fun Fact! Over 9 million tulips were planted for the movie - First few notes of Ding Dong the Witch is Dead play at the start before No One Mourns the Wicked - The lion cub in the basket like Toto was in the Wizard of Oz - The shadow of Elphaba’s hand on the text book in the first movie referencing an iconic wicked witch picture of Margaret Hamilton Main Cameos - The character in the movie that says "the wizard will see you now" is Stephen Schwartz, who wrote the lyrics and music for the stage show - The character who says "He can read it, he must be a Wizard", is Winnie Holzman, who wrote the script for the stage show and co-wrote the screenplays for both movies - The wise ones actors in One Short Day are Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel who originated the Glinda and Elphaba on broadway - Head Shiztress was Keala Settle who you would recognise from the Greatest Showman which you watched recently, she played the bearded lady. Its a shame she didn't sing in Wicked - Plus several other wicked broadway actors appear in crowds of the movie and Glinda's mother played by Alice Fearn was Elphaba on broadway. Some foreshadowing in Part 1: Fiyero - Dancing through Life (as some people have mentioned in the comments already)- the lyrics, the dancing, the poses all foreshadow what will happen later - In the classroom when Elphaba puts everyone to sleep with the poppies except Fiyero, a nod to the Wizard of Oz where a certain someone isn't affected by the poppies that put Dorothy to sleep - When Pfannee says “You’re gonna make Fiyero lose what’s left of his mind” Also for Boq: - Glinda places the red handkerchief over his heart - When he says he 'cries a lot' - How he stands when he meets Galinda for the first time - His last name being Woodsman - Uniform/outfit being shades of grey There are also notes from Wizard of Oz songs scattered in the score of the movies as well as the song "For Good" motifs throughout scenes in the first movie :)

Middle Yak

Such a sad ending for Glinda. Even though she is still "popular", she is alone

Talia Adams

The amount of times you self-foreshadowed the ending throughout the video was crazy!! I would encourage you (whether reacting or on your own) to rewatch the first movie now that you know the ending because you will see how flooded with foreshadowing and easter eggs. I also strongly believe that a big part of why Glinda was mad/hurt about Fiyero choosing Elphaba was yes, in part because she loved Fiyero, but more so because of how much she loved Elphaba and he had the courage to join her when Glinda would've wanted to.

Jenna I

Your reactions are fantastic. I have never seen someone react that emotionally to the reveal that Elphaba faked her death it was beautiful. Everytime you said you were hoping for that ending I was screaming "keep watching wait for it!!" I truly enjoyed this and all of your insights and commentary

Jennifer Ambrose

L Frank Baum never intended this for Oz. His Oz was a children’s story about a land with no money that was practically a utopia. Also the wicked witch was not green in his book, nor were good witches necessarily beautiful. The MGM movie changed the books a lot (Oz is a dream, wicked witch is green, ruby slippers instead of silver shoes, and Glinda became the only good witch instead of the good witch of the South -there’s another old lady good witch of the north in the books) Gregory Maguire used the characters but really worked off the MGM movie to create Elphaba and Glinda in Wicked. His version is soooo much darker and his Elphie does some truly bad things and so does everyone. He was trying to examine actual creation of wickedness. The stage musical took Maguire’s story and lightened it up and refocused it on the two women and gave it a happy-ish ending. This movie is based on the stage musical and although Chu tried to add in more stuff from the Maguire book, it’s still more the stage version. I love these movies and the original Oz books but I think they are completely separate worlds. It’s like Oz through the telephone game.

Noah Kahan

As you can see from the second half of wicked. Wicked isn't a story suggesting Elphaba never did bad deeds. Instead it's the story of how societal evil, oppression and propaganda turned her wicked Also one of the things I like about the pacing of Wicked for good is that at the exact moment you start feeling like why the hell isn't Glinda doing anything, so does she

Noah Kahan

Also the way boq moves throughout the first film is very mechanical. Like he's made of metal

Noah Kahan

I need him to do all of her albums

Jennifer Ambrose

The Wiz scared me when I was a kid. I actually like the live for tv version they did a few years ago. I like the show better when Dorothy is actually a kid. Plus you get Mary J Blige :)

Knekoi

When you said: is this because it's called for good? like for the right reasons... Oh boy, can't wait for you to understand the meaning behind for good. (As in later in the video.)

Willow

I finally watched this movie for the first time yesterday and then immediately started watching your reaction to it after I finished because I was so excited to see how you liked it. Ended up splitting up my watch over the last day because of life, but this reaction absolutely didn't disappoint. I cried along with you. It really is so dark but also beautiful and man, I just. I've loved Wicked since I was a theater kid teenager and I'm so happy they nailed the movies as much as they did. Especially splitting them up like this.

Paige waters

That very last scene where glinda is whispering in Elphaba's ear...that's the Broadway show poster 💕

Kelly

I absolutely love your videos and reactions! 😁 especially these two movies, you have such an amazing heart. I’ve loved wicked for so many years now and getting to see someone else’s point of view on what they’ve never seen before is so cool. I highly recommend watching the making of wicked so much behind the scenes scenes of it all too, weather on video or on your own. Also Arianna has some clips of her rehearsing the role too. And one wonderful night is also so incredible 🩷💚

Knekoi

THIS WAS EVERYTHING, thank you for sharing it with us. I cried with you and laughed with you. Even tho i've seen the movie so many times and the musical, it was a new experience watching someone who had no idea what was gonna happen. Thank you very very much.

caroline negrin

Cynthia wrote “No Place Like Home” as well as “Girl in the Bubble” Also the ending scene is not in the show at all it is shown as shadows behind a screen so it is only assumed what is happening not clear like the movie is. Also the ending scene is where “Defying Gravity” took place so that is a significant moment for yet another reason.

Valerie Fischer

This was such a great movie and great reaction

Hridayinee

So good! Loved your reaction. Love these 2 movies sooo much. For Good is my fave song. Cried along with you. The acting was superb. So glad you enjoyed and it was a happier ending we could all love ❤️

Elina Kauppi

I would love for you to react to the live performances. But also Cynthia Erivo performing "Stand Up" at the Oscars in 2020, I get goosebumps just thinking about that performance.

Brianna W

PLEASE WATCH Wicked: One Wonderful Night!!!

Emily Lorence

Your reaction to Elphba’s appearance at the end was so beautiful. This is why the musical is so beloved and is still going strong. These movies truly elevated the musical experience. I loved them and it is so nice to have it be immortalized in this way. If you can, go back and listen to the making of podcast on YouTube to hear from all of the designers and team members that made these movies. It’s astounding!

Breezee92

I love your reactions to both movies. I was waiting til the end to see your reaction to her being alive. It was very fulfilling to watch. Never been more happier seing a grown man cry 🤣🤣🤣

R

Loved your reaction!! Such a roller coaster feeling :D I want you to react to the deleted scenes, you can understand the details better! Like Glinda's black boots..

Ronda Bennett

And his line in as long as your mine starts with "maybe I'm brainless..."

Ronda Bennett

Beautiful reaction! You're foreshadowing was indeed SO SPOT ON!! 😲 I kept yelling at my phone press 🗣️play Luke... press play! It's gonna be ok!😄 Like someone else suggested, definitely go back and rewatch the first one so you can see all of the obvious Easter eggs when you know who's who and what happens at the end. There's clues throughout the whole movie for every main character. Even the scene of alphaba riding the bike with the lion in the back references Toto being in the basket on the back of a bike in The Wizard of Oz, and the scene with the poppies in the classroom everyone falls asleep except for the Fiyero/scarecrow. In the movie everyone falls asleep in the poppy field except for the scarecrow...super cute parallels.

rialto

The concept of a gay man and a lesbian having so much romantic chemistry is amazing. They are phenomenal actors.

Leslie Nick Haver

Both of these songs were written by Stephen Schwartz.

Kadda

PLEASE!!

Rachel

The book is so much more dark than the musical but love the musical so so much

SuSa Ackles

This movie mase me soooooooob! Loved it so so much! All the political themes here were crazy. 🚨🚨🚨 Btw ! PLEASEEEEE watch „My name is khan“ (deeeep emotional bollywood movie! Phenomenal!!!) And „Anastasia“ (wasnt disney originally but disney owns it now. Its crazzzzy good)

Nate

When you were feeling torn about Glinda and how she was both good and bad, I think is one of the whole points of the story. No one is either all good or all bad in life. We all do good and bad things. And yet, like the Wizard says, the truth is what people believe. People put labels on us of "good" or "bad" - per his song, "is a rich man a thief or philanthropist? It's all in which label is able to persist." People define us, put us in a box, and then label that box, but the reality is it's not that clear. Also according to the Wizard's song, "There are precious few at ease with moral ambiguities, so we act like they don't exist." This whole movie is about moral ambiguities. As much as I love Glinda, the fact that she sided with the Wizard, she gave into her desires for comfort, fame, etc. saddens me. Or that she gave the Wizard the idea to go after Elphaba's sister., which led to her death. Nevertheless, this doesn't make her all bad - it makes her human. She did end up feeling remorse - she had good in her. She never intended to do bad. Yet, despite the fact that she did some bad things, she's been labeled "Galinda the Good". The fact that Elphaba didn't seem to have much remorse for turning Boq into the tin man... not great, but she's also done so much good for the animals... and yet, she's labeled "wicked"

SuSa Ackles

Omg u didnt see actual big flower fields yet?!?!? Hahahahah

SuSa Ackles

I was a mess after this one. My head hurt as well. Like So many people cried in the cinema HAHAHAHA U could literalyl hear them all HAHAHA

sav 🦋

please react to wicked one wonderful night

Emily Nye

"we all know how it ends" Do we though?

Emily Nye

Since For Good is in this movie, I want to share a story. Kristin Chenowith, who was the original Glinda on Broadway, joined the US TV show The West Wing in its 6th season. She joined in fall 2004 right after she finished her run in Wicked on Broadway. Her character worked closely with John Spencer's character. In late November or very early December 2005 John asked Kristin if she would sing For Good at his funeral. Her response was something like, "sure, but that won't be for a long time." He passed away from a heart attack on December 16, 2005. She apparently made good on her promise. I love her for that.

Tiffany Uscio

It was like watching it for the first time watching it thru and with you. Lol. The broadway is just as great if not better. You must check it out if it comes near you you.

Nico D. Dragon

I would love to see you react to the Wizard of Oz now. I didn't see the film before I watched the musical (which btw. in Germany has slightly diffrent visuals than the English version).

Lauren

💯💯

Lauren

You're one of the only reactors I've ever seen who actually likes the cute little Ozian words as much as me! Usually, people hate it. I am obsessulated.

Emily

I have watched this about 3 times all the way through. I have never been hit so hard by emotions then when I see you react to this. Especially the big reveal at the ending, I smiled but was happy didn't cry. When I watched you I cried and now my eyes are absolutely raw and swollen!!!

J. McCarthy

Honestly your reaction to seeing her come out of the trap door was exactly how I felt 100%. Having seen the Broadway, they did SUCH an amazing job with these movies. I am of the small percentage of people that actually prefers act 2 over act 1. Also, thank you for being one of the small few that noticed righr away in the first movie thst Hljnda was devastated and not celebrating Elphie's death like everyone does. If you look at her lyrics and where they overlap with the ensemble she basically tells us, one mourns the wicked and goodness knows etc. Its WILD how they write these songs

Sarah Handberg

As long as you’re mine and no good deed are my two favourite songs in this musical. I’m so happy you liked them

Aturtlern

I joined so I could watch you react to the ending. Well worth it!

Sarah Blum

Finally! Been waiting forever lol. Love your reactions!
