Omg I’m supposed to get work done today lol!!

T

Im so excited to watch I’ve never seen this full doc. Only clips!

Teetee Scott

And now nothing in my house will get done today 😩😩😩😩

Erwin 𐚁

Ahh!!! Great surprise. 🐝 🦁

pen

Thank youuuuu

T

Y’all here he goes again with the foresight OMG…he said, she could just be lying down in the bed and can hit those notes…now where did we see exactly that?!! This happens often with Luke!!

Curwin Sphere

That shot of her and Jay at around 2:15 is from their performance in South Africa. You have to watch the 25 minutes or so of it that is available to stream before you move on to Renaissance. It'll be a fitting closure of the Gift and because I really want you to see her performance of Halo with the South African choir.

Erwin 𐚁

And so you understand the timeline: The movie “The Lion King” was released in 2019. Beyoncé voiced Nala and surprised dropped “The Gift” the day the movie came out. A year later (2020) the film for The Gift, BLACK IS KING, dropped on Disney+.

Thiago LIma

Yeees ❤️❤️❤️

T

‼️Luke, on the Kendrick note: please first react to Kendrick’s Song titled Beyonce 🎶 from 2009 or so!! It’s on YouTube! If you can do it before renaissance even better‼️

Ó Cléirigh

Interesting fact … Beyonce records most of her songs in her studios (yes plural ) in her home in the Hamptons.

Wolfgang

Great reaction and insights as always, the most underrated Beyonce project but I know years and years from now this masterpiece will be rediscovered. Would love for you to react to the Global Citizen performance, I saw that live in Johannesburg and it was amazing.

Michael

One of the most beautiful albums NOW ITS TIME FOR THE RENAISSANCE ALBUM ‼️‼️‼️‼️

gabby 🦋

the general public felt it was beyonce “trying to be black” whatever that means, so most didn’t watch. and the beyhive that didn’t watch or liked because it wasn’t a actual “beyonce” album.

E Rock

There's one big thing ppl seems to be missing or forgetting and that's her role in Cadillac records. I think it's five songs on the soundtrack that you should check out.

Teriagotemhookd

My daughter loves Brown Skin Girl. Was just singing it yesterday. I'm glad manager Blue liked it..iykyk and we're getting closer to Renaissance yall lol

Bey Brown

The Gift won 2 Grammys 1 for Brown Skin Girl- Best music video and Black Parade- R&B performance 2021

Mamadou Ndiaye

Saying raye from lisa or whatever is crazy 😭😭. You need to get into her she recently dropped an album it’s a genius record. She’s extremely talented and innovative.

Kells881

This was definitely slept on by some people, but it’s a project like all of them of hers which I absolutely love. Yes, Raye( who I am obsessed with & will be seeing soon) has written songs for her on not only this but Cowboy Carter as well.

Dana (Dah-Nah)

it's called 'Making the Gift' because 'The Lion King: The Gift' is the name of the album, she released it the same day The Lion King (2019) came out, Black is King came out a year later

Milkyway

I’m guessing Renaissance is next? When you react to Renaissance you have to listen to the album on streaming because the songs transitions into each other

Dana (Dah-Nah)

in case you didn't know, Blue plays Kiara, Simba and Nala's daughter in 'Mufasa: The Lion King' the director suggested the casting because Blue had already won a voice over award for her narration of the book 'Hair Love' when she was like 8

Jaywoot

Okay, Renaissance is next. I’m really excited for you. I wish I could relive that experience for the first time. When you listen to renaissance you have to do it using Apple Music or Spotify as the songs transition into each other it’s very important to get the full experience

Ced

We actually love the long videos btw lol

Ania K.

What do you mean next week? You mean friday right? Guys he means Friday right ? We need Renaissance on Friday mate !

Gencarlos Nunes

I think it’s time to RENAISSANCE OMG finally!!! Pls do the reaction on streaming, I swear it’s TOO important btw I’m excited about it

Jay Costa

This was definitely a more grounded project since it was more focused on the film. This was sort of an add-on and more of a spiritually necessary creative project for beyoncé. However, renaissance and the 3 acts project is something we still don’t even fully comprehend how big it all could be since it’s been so many years in the making. It’s her biggest creative endeavor yet. Like the making of the renaissance tour itself took 4 years! Hopefully you can find a copy of the movie soon to react to!

Paula Gailes

Beyonce went through a period where the "industry" tried to black ball her after she released her Formation video. That was around the time when the 'Black Lives Matter' movement in the U.S. unfolded. The result of this was the Beyonce we experience today!

Torri

When you listen to Renaissance, let the transitions between songs play. Listen on either Spotify, Apple Music, or some streaming platform so you can hear any transitions

Helena

I agree that film is so good. He needs to react to the whole film and songs

Paula Gailes

Black Is King should be concluded with the video, Bigger, which was written by Raye and stars Blue.

Magdalena

I absolutely agree that this is some of her best work! This is a body of art with music, visuals, a connection to The Lion King, and a beautiful message behind it. And yes, that was RAYE. Beyoncé and her are the two artists in my life who make me feel music in ways no one else can, so seeing them working together always brings a warm feeling to my chest. I personally think that you would love her music as well. ;)

Courtney O’Shea

I know you go into your reactions blind and I love that but I think for Renaissance and Cowboy Carter, you should do some research. There is so much depth to them that you probably won’t catch if you don’t do the research. When you know the meaning and details behind the tracks and album’s, it makes the albums even more powerful.

Felicia Brown

Fun fact… brown skin girl is one of the first songs I played when I had my daughter in 2020. It’s so deeply affirmative 🥹💕

Jon Dickey

Renai Renai Renai Renai Renai Renai SANCE!!!

Jamar

Yea please do some light research!

Courtney O’Shea

Yeah, I think for Renaissance and Cowboy Carter, it is definitely needed. Even if he doesn’t have a lot of time to do a full load of research, he could just do a community post on YouTube and ask his viewers to tell him what he should know before reacting to them.

Kay

The album is called The Gift. Black is King is the film version of the gift which was released later.

Nope

“I think Beyoncé hides her talent.” EXACTLY! You’re toeing the line of the next stage in this hive illness which is “This is getting ridiculous.” Followed quickly by “Wtf is her problem anyway 😠” . You’ll know you’re there when you start calling her Giselle or another nickname. Because YES she hides talent..She’s plays in our faces Luke!😭

My’kel J

When we really fed up with her, “BEYONCÉ GISELLE KNOWLES CARTER FEMALE POP VOCALIST” 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🙌🏽👏🏽🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽👏🏽 full government lol

My’kel J

“Hides her vocals” .. yes and no .. her best vocals are usually in the background UNLESS she wants them up front …. But a lot of people(rightfully so) mistake her backing vocals for instruments

My’kel J

Yes that is raye .. Raye wrote bigger .. and She also cowrote 2 songs on cowboy carter I believe

My’kel J

“They’re like the same person” sir YOU HAVE NO IDEA .. oh but you boutta find out .... BLUE IS THE UPCOMING STANDARD

CT

Wait - please pause! We skipping over some major items…and rushing! We need to take a step back… - Mrs. Carter Tour (album 4) - BeyGood Foundation (if you want to see him cry) lol - Live at Revel - ^^^ - all of this came before Lemonade and Black is King - Formation Tour Keep in mind yall - Beyonce only did things few and far between once we get to Lemonade. He will be back at the Cowboy Carter by the end of the month or early May.

m

He said for each era he gonna listen to the album then movie then maybe bts then we will go back and get missing stuff

Teriagotemhookd

I'm begging for the start of Renaissance on Thursday 😩😂 please Luke lol

CT

Oh good! I was getting concerned 😩. He has reached the era where he’s going to have to start watching fan made live videos and I’m thinking there is so much more to watch before we get to the end where we are the visuals.

Adelle

My favorite is “that creole lady” 💀

Amy

Beyonce is an alien superstar! You will get what I am saying when you will react to Renaissance 😂

Aiofe

I honestly think Black is King didn’t get the love it deserved for 2 man reasons. The live action version of the Lipn King did not get the love Disney wanted. And Black is King was too Black. Sadly even amongst a certain section of Black people, anything connected to Africa and its ancestral connections and spirituality gets labeled demonic. 🙄

Shaun Hanna Reynolds

Why hasn’t there been a Thursday upload I’m lost 😭😭😭

Orlando

He did say at the end of the gift doc on Monday he’ll see us next week, but I didn’t take him seriously 😭

Orlando

Update he released savage with Meg on YT

Shaun Hanna Reynolds

Nvm found it I was just too blind with stress 😂😂❤️

Shaun Hanna Reynolds

I think I was covered In tears by that stage I wasn’t paying attention. I’m super excited for His renaissance album reaction !!

Danielle

I'm so glad you reacted to this & wish you had did it BEFORE the film because you wouldn't have had so many questions going into it blindly, but you got it after this & I appreciate that. Moving forward going into the Acts, I really HOPE that you do your research going into Renaissance & Cowboy Carter because you're going to be having even more questions into these amazing albums, that can be answered BEFOREHAND! I love your reactions Luke, but doing your research never hurts!! It brings more context & cultural revelations, instead of going into them blindly! And please listen to the Renaissance album straight through so you can hear the TRANSITIONS between songs, that's a key to how the actual album flows‼️ All love🫶🏾🐝

Jon Dickey

Listened to the full album in the car yesterday. SO GOOD!

Jon Dickey

Ok it's SUNDAY NOW 🙏🙏🙏 Here we goooo?!?!?! 🙏🙏🙏

MM

Don’t forget about Beyoncé’s Oscar performance of ‘Be Alive’ which was released 4 months before the Renaissance album. Def worth watching.
