to this day I cannot and will not forgive bakugo for the shit he did. While Deku may have done so, I will NEVER ship them, or fully forgive him for the shit Izuku dealt with throughout middle school. Shipping just isn't that deep anyway. People should just leave it be or it just streisand effects anyway. I see more people complaining about bkdk ships than I see people actually shipping bkdk, but like...if there's two characters with any chemistry at all, positive or negative, I'm sorry but ppl are just gonna ship them, male or female. Well it's my first time watching this anime and I feel ashamed cause Bakugo has best va in my opinion, but I wanted to share my way of thinking of his psychology from what I just watched. (All 1-7ep) I feel that he is not a narcissistic kid with God complex but quiet the opposite. Maybe he has huge inferiority complex and when Deku looks at him with sympathy he feels pity? And maybe this all anger is just his copping mechanisms. I mean he still wants to be a hero. Idk why, hope they will show us some more of his backstory. Still I want to believe he is a good kid 💖🥲

So Ill only go wit my thought process at this point. The problem is that everyone else in his life recklessly hyped him up to be absolutely amazing and to his credit hes always had the skill to back it up. He was made to believe he could anything by himself so of course a single looking at him like he needs help would make him think that that person thinks hes not great. Also alot of people tend to forget that these are still kids and he was even younger still when people started putting those thoughts in his head so it was inevitable that his ego was going to spiral out of control. People dont like to believe that young characters can change especially when theyre not even at an age where most people havent even learned to be introspective yet.

Bakugo has issues, but he definitely missed on purpose. He's clearly quite skilled, so he wouldn't have missed from that close if he didn't want to, and with him saying "If I don't hit him he won't die" he clearly was explaining his intent to All-Might. I.e. "Don't worry, I won't actually hit him". You're not wrong to dislike him, but there's every reason to assume he wasn't trying to actually kill Deku and not jump to that conclusion

Honestly, I would be scared to go after that. First combat training, surrounded by people you barely know, probably the first time you and everyone else are given free rein to use your quirk against other people. You are watching the first group go trying to figure out how it is going to be in your turn, and you see a psychopath who for all purpouses seems to be trying to kill the other guy, another that prefers to receive massive body damage before losing, mayor structural damage to the building... and the teacher refuses to stop the fight for any reason ending with one of the students leaving unconscious in a stretcher without finishing the class. Yeah, I would be nervous.

Finally someone who watches this and understands Bakugo. Hes the worst. Absolute douche. Honestly I think its mostly bad parenting, they try to show here everyone always praised him so much it got to his head. Nothing that a good slap in the behind wouldn't have fixed I think. That said, hes still young, hopefully he grows up when he see's the worlds doesn't revolve around himself.

I've seen many a reactor watch mha and never once have I noticed fans getting mad at the reactor for comments on ships. Not saying it has not happened, and I am sure some of those reddit threads get hostile, but I find it weird that I see people on his videos now posting to be careful about who he ships lol. Also, it would only really be considered a spoiler if I were to name a future arc or insane plot point by name or exact timeframe, which I never did. I wouldn't say that Bakugo has a god complex, someone with a god complex, like Light Yagami is one who sees himself above all and will do anything necessary to achieve his goals, and they think they don't make any wrong decisions. While Bakugo here does acknowledge his weaknesses, know when he is at fault, and despite the way he's acting he has a heart of a hero. You can see in the flashback they showed when he talks about surpassing All Might that he's really serious, confident, and dedicated to that goal. He might not have the attitude of a hero, but he does have what it takes to be one. He really reminds me of a certain character in this show too.

Sasuke is my least favorite a hole rival character, and Bakugo made me appreciate Sasuke more. Vegeta, Sasuke, Hiei, Kaiba, these asshole antagonistic rival archetype usually got some redeeming quality or sometimes they become more likeable than the protagonist as the show progress, but for some reason I can't bring myself to like Bakugo lol

bakugo has always been able to do everything the best as a kid and therefore is constantly being praised, which inflated his opinion of himself and compared to deku who was pretty much useless as a kid, led to him bullying deku, which is also exacerbated when bakugo gets his quirk and deku has none. This basically cementing deku as just irredeemably insignificant in bakugos perception as they grew up, so even though it's no longer the case that is why bakugo treats deku as he does. it's not malice, bakugo is just an extremely proud individual and when deku enters UA, bakugo sees that as deku basically saying that he sees bakugo as the same as bakugo views deku, which his pride cannot take

"I'm actually just starting to think that these two may be gay" That’s the most logical thing I’ve ever heard anyone say about this episode. Putting that aside, and as someone who needs a considerable amount of empathy when working with children like Bakugo, psychologically speaking, I think his delusions of grandeur stem from a rather common insecurity found in children who grow up in environments where ability determines the amount of love or acceptance you receive. He was already a confident child without a quirk; seeing how other children were drawn to that confidence, he understood at an early age what it ‘takes’ for someone to praise you. That only got worse once he obtained his power; being in an environment where he saw that the more powerful the powers, the more attention they attracted, the more they were valued, the more they were praised, because we all like a good hero, don’t we? A child’s emotions are simple; it’s either one way or the other; they don’t have the reasoning to understand that one thing doesn’t determine the other. With this in mind, it’s not hard to understand what he was trying to keep for himself. This is where Izuku comes in; Bakugo saw him as someone quite inferior, someone vulnerable; I don’t think he kept Deku close because he wanted to protect him, I think it’s what you see: a child who was trying to show what someone who needs saving looks like, and what someone who is a saviour looks like. For Kacchan, seeing someone so vulnerable trying to save everyone despite their fear and weakness, seeing that kindness emerge from no reasonable or visible source of strength within him—someone who was truly strong—rather than anger, it caused him panic: panic at what it meant for someone to have to reach out a hand to you, panic at the possibility that someone might see you and feel that you needed help, panic at what he believed it meant to be saved, because people fear what they cannot understand, and often when that fear cannot be expressed because it represents weakness, it ends up manifesting as anger and violence. Which is what leads to a relationship as unhealthy as that of Kacchan and Deku. Now, I am not justifying violence against the weak, because there is no way that can be right in any sense, but childhood is a stage where we absorb everything we see around us and turn it into a truth; that is why it is a stage for which the responsibility falls heavily on the adults in charge of a child. It is essential that parents, family and teachers know how to raise children in environments where every emotion is valid and important, where every person, regardless of their ability or how much of it they have, deserves to be loved, respected and valued. It’s difficult when the world forces you to be the best and to excel in order to be considered special or important, but it’s not impossible; I’ve seen it. I could write a whole essay explaining all the exact traits that shaped Bakugo’s personality, but I don’t want to come across as too much of a nerd, because, yes, Katsuki is my favourite character in the anime, and I’ve psychoanalysed him quite a bit. However, even I can admit that he’s bloody annoying at first, but I could never hate him because I could empathise with him after seeing kids like that, and his development over the rest of the anime quickly made him my favourite. I’m confident that if there’s anyone who has enough empathy to at least warm to him, it’ll be you, Luke. I’m really enjoying your reactions. ✨

☠️ made it to the half way point. 1. You have nooooo idea how much stuff is on the internet about deku and kaachan. 2. Not sure if its cannon, never looked it up but I'm under the belief that quirks have some persuasion on personalities. Kaachan is bad, he just has an "explosive" personality and is mildly misunderstood or neurodivergent with the impulse stuff. It would be fascinating to be in that universe to see the studies on quirks and mental health. 3. As someone who has been avoiding the series final for months now [I've developed some odd fears/aversions as of late] you really need need to kaachan a chance.
