She deserved that Oscar

Cynthia Fenderson

It’s from the movie King Richard and it’s about Tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams. That’s why the setting is green like that to represent a tennis court.

T

King Richard is about Venus and Serena Williams, their father Richard (played by Will Smith) that’s why in the opening we see the two girls with the beads !

m

You missed blue doing her lil dance but glad u noticed her!! Love this song!

Cynthia Fenderson

And if you watch this back you will see our niece Blue in front of her mom dancing at the end🥰

Teetee Scott

Teriagotemhookd

T

Hey it’s a performance that is chronologically along the journey and have been requested by his fans. He acknowledged he has a trip he planning around and is also, a human! Renny is coming, if we can wait 2 years between each Act you can wait a few days or so!!

Britney Renèe

Hey so…love your videos! One thing though. Please do just a smidge of research before Renaissance. Idk how much you already know but….it’ll be awesome for you to understand it in real time.

Ania K.

u mean the color of the tennis ball, the court is red, blue or dark green

Ania K.

No it's about tennis, Serena and Venus Williams, Richard is their dad. He basically made them. If you know Beyonce 's history, her sisters, her dad, the way they worked all together to get to the top as black women, with all the obstacles and everything, beyonce was the best choice for the soundtrack because their stories resonates a lot with her story. And beyonce Loves Serena, remember she was in the lemonade movie, she also performed with destiny's child once if I'm not mistaken or maybe It was her sister Venus. Also an incindent happened that night on the Oscar and stole all the spotlight from the ceremony. Even tho Beyoncé killed it like always of course. Will smith is playing Richard Williams the father in the movie and he decided to slap on the face another actor on stage, live, in front of everyone.

A

second this! I think he'll understand and appreciate the project more with some research on what it is

Whitney K

Wow, speak for yourself. Have some compassion and understanding. Do you seriously want him to rush a reaction video under pressure, or actually take his time and enjoy Renaissance the way it deserves?

Michael Reynolds

You need to look up her interview for her Sasha Fierce persona. You just described what she talks about being on stage vs her in real life

😍😍😍

Moving forward going into the Acts, I really HOPE that you do your research going into Renaissance & Cowboy Carter because you're going to be having even more questions into these amazing albums, that can be answered BEFOREHAND! I love your reactions Luke, but doing your research never hurts!! It brings more context & cultural revelations, instead of going into them blindly! And please listen to the Renaissance album straight through so you can hear the TRANSITIONS between songs, that's a key to how the actual album flows‼️ All love🫶🏾🐝

Victor Hugo Okamoto Husch

Pls, research the context of the the next series albuns. It's important to research the begging of the III acts before react renaissance! RENAISSANCE is my fav album! 4 and Renaissance, can't choose the best! Hahha...

Hey Luke.👋🏼 Been a follower since the first Kendrick and Bey reaction. I get you're going away but you're killing me with these short Beyonce reaction videos here lately. We truly appreciate all the hard work it goes into this, but in the future if you can please couple short performances together so that we can at least get 45 min to an hour of reactions. We really look forward all week to them lasting a bit longer. LOVE YOU! Enjoy your time away friend. 🫶🏽👑🐝🎶🎤💛 #rennyready

Bella Raye Maven

I concur! At least read a brief overview before reacting. It's truly needed for any Beyonce reaction because she's so intentional with EVERYTHING she does.

Darnell Davis

I really hope you do AOL Sessions and Live at Glastonbury 🙏🏾

Hey Luke, you’re getting deeper into Bey’s art that has purposeful multi layered meaning… she’s intentional about every single detail from the lyrics, aesthetic, and vision. I echo what everyone is saying in the comments in order to understand some of the hidden or not as obvious meaning you may need to do brief preliminary analysis just so you’re not lost or miss out on the details. Have a great vacation and time off. See you soon!

I know everyone is telling you to do research on renaissance I figured i would just give you a synopsis here -------> Beyoncé’s "Renaissance" is a celebration of Black and queer culture, self-expression, joy, and freedom, crafted as both a personal escape and a communal invitation to dance and embrace empowerment. Personal and Cultural Origins: Beyoncé created Renaissance during the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, intending it as a space for freedom, exploration, and release, offering both herself and listeners an opportunity to escape fear and uncertainty while discovering joy through music. The title itself refers to a “cultural revival” and a personal rebirth, emphasizing restoration and renewal within herself and the wider musical and cultural landscape: The album is dedicated to her late Uncle Johnny, whose influence exposed her to queer music and culture, and through this tribute, Beyoncé honors the Black LGBTQ+ community and musicians who shaped house, disco, and other dance genres. This acknowledgment underscores the album’s role in recognizing historically marginalized contributors to music and amplifying their legacy. Themes of Dance, Joy, and Liberation: Musically, Renaissance draws from house, disco, techno, afrobeat, bounce, and ballroom cultures, blending decades of Black dance music traditions into a seamless journey meant to get listeners moving. Each track transitions fluidly into the next, mimicking a DJ set and mirroring the continuous, liberating experience of a dance floor. The album celebrates ecstatic movement, self-love, and sexual confidence, with songs like “Church Girl,” “Cozy,” and “Virgo’s Groove” highlighting sensuality, empowerment, and intimate connection. Tracks such as “Break My Soul” encourage audiences to release societal and occupational pressures with lyrics resonating with contemporary movements like the Great Resignation, while “Alien Superstar” and “Pure/Honey” highlight self-celebration and uniqueness within Black and queer communities. Sampling and referencing pioneers like Donna Summer, Prince, and Big Freedia, Beyoncé interweaves Afrofuturistic elements that connect past, present, and imagined futures, illustrating resilience and creativity. Intersection of Identity and Culture: Renaissance is both sensual and political, exploring themes of Black joy, feminism, queer visibility, and diasporic consciousness. Beyoncé uses her platform to reclaim space for Black women and queer individuals in dance and electronic music, genres historically shaped by marginalized communities (Songs like “Move” and “Heated” celebrate female power and collective energy, showcasing assertiveness and solidarity across generations and cultures. The album’s lyrics, vocal arrangements, and collaborations amplify messages of self-love, empowerment, and resistance against societal judgment/ Overall Meaning: Beyoncé’s Renaissance embodies a multi-layered cultural and emotional revival: A personal renaissance, through creativity and freedom during challenging global times. A communal invitation to joy, leveraging dance music to connect listeners across time, space, and identity. An homage to Black, queer, and female innovators, reclaiming their histories and contributions. A celebration of self-love and empowerment, with tracks encouraging authenticity, release, and exuberance In essence, Renaissance is an ode to liberation, pleasure, and cultural restoration, redefining what it means to “be” in both a personal and societal sense through music that is immersive, celebratory, and transformative.

King Richard is about Richard Williams. Dad to Venus and Serena Williams who trained them to be the superstars they are. Richard was played by Will Smith. He won the Oscar for it but it was overshadowed by “the slap” when he went up and slapped Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife Jada, which earned him a 10 year ban from the Oscars

T

I bet yall he’s going to pause less than 10 secs into Renaissance Track 1 and say “what IS this? what am I listening to?”

Paula Gailes

King Richard is the story of the making of Venus and Serena Williams. Their father's name is Richard Williams.

TxMade

As the other people have mentioned, King Richard is the story of Richard Williams raising his daughters, Venus and Serena, to be the GOATS of Tennis that they are...which is why the color theme of this whole performance is TENNIS BALL YELLOW. Very intentional.

Rigo

Respectfully, it's really distracting when you talk over Bey's singing! Love your commentary, but not placed over the top of my girl's vocals. Just pause the video!

I second this!
