I just wanna say thank you Luke for this journey!! I have been following the Beyonce journey since day one, and it is still the highlight of my week. I am a gay male, and this album changed my entire life. It made me accept myself in a way I never thought I would. Her 3 act project seems to be about reclaiming black music. For act 1 (Renaissance) its about the house/dance music, inspired by her gay uncle Johnny. Act 2 (Cowboy Carter) is country inspired album with a lot of references to the black culture around country music. Act 3 is expected to be rock (with tina tuner influence), but since its Beyonce, we obviously dont know yet, haha. Anyways, I just wanted to thank your for this journey. Your openness and understanding for art and people is unmatched. Wishing you all the best <3

The easiest way to sum it up since you’re confused. This album was for THE GIRLS AND THE GAYSSSS💅😉🤭it’s contextual so coming from an outsiders perspective a lot of the styles techniques and nuances and quirks wouldn’t fully make sense. you should definitely react to a bootleg of the renaissance film if you wanna live a little more in this era/act. They’re easily findable on google or YouTube🫠💀 But yess…ur confused…and it’s ok it’s not for you to fully get and grasp babe😆it’s more of a iykyk album but of course still incredible by other feats which u clearly do get! Anyways, 10ssss across the board reaction!!😉

Making renaissance the first act is one of the best decisions in this trilogy. Luke, cowboy carter (country) was supposed to be act i. but we were just coming out of the global pandemic, and beyonce felt the world needed to dance, hence she switched it and made renaissance, which is house music, act i.

Her goal was to forego song structure and do what she wanted. Cozy is a love song to trans women and the queer community and of course herself and her new juicy post-baby body. (If you notice she subtly called out the colors of the rainbow flag) this album pulled from black queer ballroom culture and disco. Hints of 80s and 90s miami bass and retro studio 54 vibes are all through the album. It's all over the place but perfectly cohesive. And since it's the pandemic album she references going outside a few times. She put america on notice that she indeed is gonna be a problem because of how fine she is and how much fun she'll have as soon as she gets into the party!! Once lockdown was over she was ready to get outside with her friends and shake some ass and she encouraged us all to do the same! Cowboy Carter was supposed to come out first in the trilogy but during the pandemic, she felt the world needed to DANCE and feel joy so she put Renaissance out first. Sadly it didn't win album of the year. It's speculated thatthe grammys wouldn't consider it because how heavily sampled it is. Hundreds of people would've had to be awarded if she won. (I think that was her intention anyway.) To give recognition to those that came before her and didn't get to shine.

All I’ll say is for a lot of us (me included) we didn’t completely get it on the first listen but by the third i was hooked. Don’t get caught up in the words. She’s not talking to or about Jay. She’s speaking the words for you to feel. And listen..Its s super weird album and you’re forced to react to an album that’s a little scary because you don’t know where she’s going or if the message matters. It’s a feeling album. Just feel. So I know after another listen without us you’ll like 98% percent of the album a Lot more 😇

Context for America Has A Problem’s title, it samples a rap song about cocaine with the same title. In this song, Beyoncé is the drug herself, the best high her partner’s ever had or will have. She is the problem in question. I also think it’s wink nudge to how polarising she is to America’s GP, she causes a stir often, “you know you that bitch when you cause all this conversation”

my understanding is that B was going to put out CC first, but covid was raging & thought the public needed ( my opinion: to disassociate from the world w/ ) Renaissance first as a bit of a soothing balm for the personal plus societal fracture we all were experiencing.
