DrA

Yeah, the eye of the storm is surrounded by the worst part. Not recommended.

Vivica the witch

Even if he didn't do anything in raiders you can't make the same argument about ToD or LC

HKAMILAH

Renaissance move please :)

Some0neElse

Let me make this clear: Avatar hates cabbages almost as much as Naruto hates trees :D

RandomTitanGuy

Fun fact: Magic the gathering recently had an avatar set of cards released and the great divide guide (among other characters you've seen so far) has a card and its actually pretty good.

Axel H

33:50 Both... the uncle us both.

Oatmeal1504

He's a DILF, or as someone in chat said, a UILF

Cynavox

Wait where's 5-8? Did those not get posted?

Airtiger

They are posted. I see it in my feed

Cynavox

Huh... Yeah on the 17th. I was watching for the notification and I even looked through the vids, but didn't see it. Ah well. Thanks

Huro

Could anyone tell me the My Hero Academia schedule please? thanks in advance

Everyone hates the Great Divide but I remember as a kid liking it and that feeling has followed me.

Yogesh Mehta

This old man on the "bad guys" side being good is a nice contrast to the old man on the "good guys" side who turned in Haru after Haru saved him with earthbending in an earlier episode. It adds nice moral ambiguity and nuance to the world

Juan Contreras

Luke if you want nightmares learn to lucid dream. Thanks to my childhood trauma I can lucid dream every night, but I can also control the dream like changing the background, people everything to what ever I want and I’m with you on nightmares. My dreams always are about fighting for my life or trying to survive very dangerous situations

Sakura Minamino

That's kind of messed up. You're getting ready for war. You're a new recruit, excited to fight for your country, and then you hear your banashed and you have no idea why and forced to follow this young kid as your commanding officer.

Nikkelz

MHA comes out on Mon/Wed/Sat you can find the schedule in the discord or on the youtube community page.

Sakura Minamino

You are thinking of it wrong. It's not moving the air when it comes to Eeath. It's the element itself. If you noticed, Aang when he airbends is evasive, light on the feet, and floaty when he uses it. It's a martial art. Aang is always evading and hardly sits still. Water is more like Tai chi. Flowing and fluid movements. Not as evasive. But air and water are both considered fluids in engineering. It has a flow. So they are similar in that regard. And they are not too different. But EArth bending is quite different. If you watch the earth benders, their feet are very grounded. A lot of stomping, horse stances, low but powerful. It is quite opposite of air. And fire is more like karate. It's very aggressive compared to the other fighting forms but also another form of discipline, something Aang lacks. Fire can be helpful but dangerous as fire can spread and burn out of control. The other elements don't have to fear that. It's all about movements, mental state, and connection to what the element is. So while water is closest to what Aang currently does, Aang does the other two elements are quite different.

The chat is so annoying, Seeing people call Karata, such a well-developed character, a Sakura 2.0 is a horrible way to diminish her. It proves that some people really didn't watch the show. 😑

SidekickSteph

I might actually get Twitch to join your for these live streams .

SidekickSteph

Save the cheerleader, save the world!! Haven’t heard that one in awhile, great show!

Mary

Dont ever say the people there theyre not real...

Sian Richardson

The next episode is one of my favourites. You'll enjoy it.

SidekickSteph

I also love Supernatural, great show! Love it when Dean does the air guitar MV 😂

Sylus Alvarado

Luke you should remember the lotus tile, it’s very important!!!

SidekickSteph

I can’t wait for the next set of episodes, I love them 😊 really every episode after the Great Divide is great lol

Emily Jewett

I remember when episode 12 hit, that’s when I was like okay, this is more than a cartoon.

Finelia Braun

Sakura is amazing!! Why are so many people hatin her? Y_Y She is such an amazing woman ._.

Finelia Braun

Prooves you didn't pay attention watching/reading NAruto, because Sakura is also an amazing character. :) Sakura hate is SO fugging forced...

Finelia Braun

I am practicing lucid dreaming, but I kinda get stuck sometimes and can't bend it as good as I want and it often turns into nightmares, a few weeks ago I was stuck in one and my sister was in my dream and somehow I thought she was real like me and it was a shared dream and I yelled at her that we are dreaming and need to wake up but she called me crazy and tried to convince me that it's real and I was so confused at some point and irritated when I woke up, I am scared since then to try again x.X

Gianna

Honestly, I didn't mean to imply that I hate Sakura, I don't. 😅 What bothered me is that the person who commented that probably meant it in a derogatory way, trying to belittle Katara by comparing her to Sakura. And excuse me, but Sakura's character development isn't very good. She was overshadowed and wasted despite being one of the main characters. She had potential, but the author didn't take advantage of it, which was even worse in the anime since I know that in the manga she isn't as violent with Naruto because of the important scenes they cut. To be honest, Naruto doesn't exactly have the best female characters either; maybe two are decent. In my opinion, Katara is much better developed and more fleshed out, which is why I find it really lame that people think they're similar when they're nothing alike. But that's my personal opinion, if you like her is okey. Pd: By the way, I didn't watch all of Naruto, I only saw Luke's reactions. He makes that anime entertaining from time to time. Love and peace ✌🏻

Dj

15:40 funny thing is, Aang is a vegetarian.

Rennna

Since you love horror, maybe it's alright to suggest you to check out Mike Flanagan's works (if you haven't seen them already)? Seeing you react to The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass and The Fall of the house of Usher would be awesome

Rook964

Karata is my fav too😆😆

PoshDoll

I’ve been waiting for this 😝😝

Aaren YASS

I like Sakura as a character. I don't like how she's written into the show. She's better than what they did to her.

Aaren YASS

I need this fact checked cuz this would be amazing lore.

Rory

Episode 12 is when I realized this series is deep.

Malik Ford

Just saying Sakura and katara just act like women not all women of course but ya know

Tizi

Honestly horror movie type of nightmares aren‘t so bad. The adrenaline from that can actually feel kind of nice when you‘re waking up I understand what Luke is saying there. Trauma nightmares are different though. Where you‘re not scared for your life running from something but reliving trauma from your past or it even gets mixed up with current events in your life. You just feel like crap when you‘re waking up from that and certainly not rested.

Leigh-Sherri Hays

Any time my kids are in my dream it's a nightmare. Its always me trying to save them from something. The worst is water.. Basically me floating around trying to grab all 7 of my kids and somehow save them.. and then I wake up. Lol

thewizardninja

The animation style in the Zhang's version of the story seems very reminiscent of the anime movie Dead Leaves. I wonder if it was an influence? It did come out the previous year.

thewizardninja

I feel like it's insightful commentary on something that has nothing to do with what Avatar is actually about. The story isn't about competing narratives so an episode that seems to exist only to comment on it sticks out like a sore thumb when so much of it is so on-theme. Maybe if the Fire Nation went to war over different interpretations of the same event it could have been thematic priming but they didn't so it's just kind of there.

AttackRunRepeat

We could say the world view of "Just because you think you know the history doesn't mean you do" is pretty on point. Also that people carry on hate with little to no evidence because hating "the other" is easier. I think there's a lot of themes here that are represented in ATLA.

Anni

they act like kids...

X3Naruto

That is just a sexist take

Malachi Marable

1:57:13 That there is a sign of media literacy. Understand Uncle Iroh is the guy this early in. Good on you, Luke, lol.

Soiren

A lot of people get mad about this when I say it, but you can see a real note of selfishness in Katara. Now I'm not hating on her or thing, she's a child, but everyone describes her as "selfless", but when she wants something, nothing anyone else has to say matters. You saw it with the Earth kingdom prisoners, she really was putting everyone at risk for this 1 prison camp when there were others. But she would "compromise", and when her side of the deal came up stubbornly insist on still getting her way. And the same with the waterbending scroll. She would have chewed any of them out for stealing and putting their lives at risk, but she did it because she wanted it. And then she selfishly kept training in secret when she said she wanted nothing to do with the scroll. Not saying Katara isn't relatively selfless, not saying Katara is the worst, but it is an interesting character flaw I see a lot of people ignore, particularly because it does serve her sometimes, but most of those situations they got lucky she got the good ending.

Soiren

I mean, the great divide is just a commentary on modern politics, isn't it? Or at the very least, modern American politics. Both sides hate the other and use that hatred to justify their bad actions. They both are twisting history to support their own narratives, so that they are the righteous ones. And you will never get them to understand each other, because the only way Aang was able to get them to make peace was BSing them in a way that can never be replicated in the real world. I also suspect this is why this episode gets so much hate on social media. Because it calls out both sides bad behavior, which is recognized, but then they think" well the other side IS the bad guys, not us, so this episode is propaganda bs!" In the process, they are still proving the episodes point. Also the episode ties everything up in a little bow.... being in the middle is lonely. Everyone hates you and thinks you're really on the other side, and you can't understand why they can't see sense.

Soiren

Not really? Men and women do act differently, they do act like women? He even specifically says not all women?

Dorran

That was a wild dream... and there wasn't even any cactus juice involved! Also, yes. Uncle Iroh is the _best._ Don't underestimate him! He treats life like a Pai Sho game ;) And the White Lotus... deceptively powerful...

Cassandra

Poor Zuko is an abused child. His actions make a lot more sense when you know that

Somedude Watchintv

Avatar is broadly about war. The Great Divide is a small scale snapshot of what can drive the fighting and how it can be perpetuated.

OvidLiam

Man I forgot how much Katara irritated me until I started watching this again. Hoo boy.

PorterDragneel

Katara is so annoying 😂😂 i didnt realize how much until i watched the live action

Jessica

Ill never understand the way people will die on the hill of loving sakura as a character. Her writing is atrocious not to mention a horrible message for young viewers. Her whole thing is literally if you never get over your childhood crush it will end up working out even if he tried to kill you move than once 🙃 just her whole implementation was awful as she was constantly made the useless one on the side that would cry to then being the tsundere, to trying to manipulate narutos feelings for her own motives, and still after everything not be over sasuke, when the dude hasnt looked her way in YEARS as a girl, its really insulting that character was suppose to be the female representation of the show. When even my child self was annoyed asf at her behavior and couldnt help but wonder why tf shes just sitting there and crying. Katara is fantastic tho

Diesel Marcus

Yeah, it's barely sub-par at best. I liked the way Aang used his wits to potentially solve a decades-long feud.

Kaylee Smeaton

The arrow tattoos are given to an airbender who has become a master. Aang was a master airbender at 12 before he was trapped in the iceberg for 100 years.

Kirisaiteiku

I don't know if it's Luke trying to entertain the chat or he's not really feeling the show or idk. But he keeps talking about voice actors and unrelated tangents during key story points and good scenes. It's's quite frustrating. like please sir just pay attention; and it's not like he's commenting on the story between scenes and I'm one of the "StOp pAUsinG" people. It's just random things and constants predictions and rhetorical questions in the middle of scenes. While dialogue is happening too! Please man...

Dairenji

Jet is fascinating to me. Because most adult reactors I've watched, and even myself as an adult, see Jet almost immediately as being off putting and a bit of a tool at best. But like...12 year old me thought Jet was the coolest. I love the way this series writes its characters man.

Dairenji

So...I can't believe I don't know this, considering I've watched this man's reactions since he started FMAB (literally since episode one. I happened to be on transit from work and it got in my recommended on his first day. Not really surprising considering how many reactions I've watched of that show im rambling now ill stop). ...but...um...How old is Luke exactly??? Cause I absolutely still get nightmares and to my understanding Luke is in my age range. I assume older, but I'm not entirely sure.

Dairenji

Luke: "That sounds like the dad from Kung-fu panda" Chat: Yes Luke: "Wait, it's actually him? Chat: Yes Luke: "Oh, cool" Reality: ...It was in fact not the dad from Kung-Fu Panda. Chat is fucking stupid as all hell"
