Angelo

Could you please react to the Needy Girl Overdose opening and ending?

Cody Etchells

Honestly compilations such as these are the reason the amount of anime I have is in the hundreds with a lot coming from the 2000s and early 2010s

Cody Etchells

If u are interested in such check out: Witchblade Kurau phantom memory Twelve kingdoms Solty rei

One Piece manga started July 22, 1997 and anime started October 20, 1999. Hajime no Ippo manga has been going since October 11, 1989 and to this day. The anime covers about 1/3 of the story but ends at a satisfying point. PEAK!

Rem is best waifu

That was the original Hunter X Hunter, I think the oldest anime you seen is Monster. Unless you actually watched something not on stream like I know you mentioned Hellsing which came out before Monster but if tou watched Hellsing Ultimate that came out after Monster. Oh you watched Digimon which says it came out in 1997.

Bersain Balbuena

Good song's that you haven't seen yet: INU X BOKU SS KIMI NI TODOKE (op and ed) HIGASHI NO EDÉN SEIKAISURU KADO ROBOTIC NOTES BECK AMNESIA GATCHAMAN CROWDS EUREKA SEVEN ( OST STORYWRITER) TIGER AND BUNNY ANOHANA KYOUSOGIGA SAKAMOTO DESU GA? Well, the Detective Conan Openings follow the same pattern as the show itself, I guess. Nothing much changes in 30 years.

AllenWalkerDaniel

So we finally got to see Luke react to Hunter x Hunter 1999... sort of anyway.😅

Ty L

Nice to have more content on retro anime, but interesting choice to just focus on 1 year. Looking back, seemed to be a lull year if you exclude the long running mega titles.

Michael

Im pretty sure the oldest anime you’ve watched is Naruto by anime. But the oldest manga is JoJo’s.

DeusSilvam

I don't agree with the list, but I will give it props for having Argento Soma on it.

Sakura Minamino

The nostalgia. I know you won't watch Inuyasha, would appreciate Yu Yu Hakusho though. It's made by the person who did HunterXHunter and Yusuke is an interesting protagonist. I also love Saiyuki. Where else do you see a top budhist monk who wears jeans, carries a gun, smokes, gambles, curses, eats meat, uses violence, and doesn't belive in the gods and would rather give them the middle finger. Also an interesting version of the traditional chinese story Journey to the West. Not sure you'd like it though. Also if you want newer, Arslan Senki is really good but under appreciated. At least react to the openings...

Sakura Minamino

I also think there is more "style" back then because it was more hand drawn which I think leads to drawings not being so clean and having every distinct feel to each one. I would like you to watch older anime that's not as mainstream. Wolf's Rain, Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin, they introduced me to anime and its a shame its kind of forgotten. Bleach was also good if you are looking mainstream and was considered one of the top 3 for a long time.

Gaghun215

Hajime no Ippo is the Grandfather of Sports anime. The Story, Character development and Emotional delivering is peak! I hope you will react soon to this masterpiece

Sakura Minamino

Arslan Senki. Most of the Saiyuki openings.

Roli D. Great

Yeah the oldest anime you watched so far, i think, is Hunter x Hunter (but it is not actually it) as you saw the newer version of HxH not that of the 1999 :P

SilvanMage

If we’re talking classic openings to react to Magic knight rayearth, tsubasa reservoir chronicles, Fushigi yugi and Visions of escaflowne would be fun

Savingstumps

Monster Rancher was a really popular game

Lotan

would watch Luke react to digimon.

Nate Ming

Bringing me back to the days of sporadic DVD releases and Hong Kong boxed sets with super-rough subtitles

Shinya

Why have you not yet reacted to the 1999 Hunter x Hunter openings…?!? You should, especially since it’s one of your favorite anime,

TI1509

You should react to 2 things ASAP! The new yorushika song “bubbles” one of their best songs in my opinion and it has an insane MV, it’s also the op for liar’s game. The other is the top 100 songs in Japan on RiNNE’s channel, the one you reacted to was by singer and didn’t include a lot of songs https://youtu.be/SAfGX6OfRm8?si=5c7TOrvQ9rRCn_ik

Rinnosuke

Animegraphy 2012 and a few years after, is an amazing AMV made of pretty much all Anime is those years. Still 2012 and 2014 are my favs.

Yui

The One Piece anime began in 1999. Detective Conan anime began in 1996. The first couple of One Piece openings did not change for many, many episodes.

Marcel Hanke

if you enjoyed Haikyu i think Yowamushi Pedal is also one for you to watch

Barack O. Llama

i mean by that logic, jojos is the oldest since the original anime came out in 1993 and the manga in 1987

Slipstream

Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase Legend of Black Heaven Baccano! Dirty Pair Noir

Slipstream

Super Milk-chan has a great English gag dub too. People always forget about Milk-chan.

Daniel Gonzalez

Hajime no ippo is great from what I hear but I'd rather have Ace of Diamond after Haikyuu would be cool to see someone react to it before I watch the new season

charlymoon

my personal favorite is the 2013 one lol

DevDSilver

I call bs on this list the fact the there was not a single op from Death note, Blood+, Bleach, Naruto, Gurren lagann, Eureka seven, Code geass, Samurai champloo, Ghost in the shell, Nanoha series, Tsubasa chronical, Elfen Lied, and tengou tenge i could list more but seriously?

Sai

I hate to be the one to say this, but this list is TRASH! Best of 2000s my ass! I am personally attacked by this! Rozen Maiden not on here. Nanoha not on here. Shakugan no Shana not on here. Basilisk not on here. Hell Girl not on here. Mahou Sensei Negima! not on here. Claymore not on here. Scrapped Princess not on here. Air Master not on here. Ah! My Goddess not on here. Jubei-chan not on here. Shadow Skill not on here. Tenchi Muyou GXP not on here. Chobits not on here. Slayers not on here. Vandread not on here. Star Ocean EX not on here. Mahou Senshi Louie not on here. Lucky Star not on here. Night Wizard not on here. Minami-ke not on here. Rental Magica not on here. I was going to keep going, but It started to hurt, so I stopped half way. There is that much missing. Why Ippo only 15?

thewizardninja

This is not a video of the Top 25 anime Openings of "The 2000s", it's a video of the Top 25 Anime Openings of THE YEAR 2000. Please read the titles of the videos you react to better.

thewizardninja

The early 2000s were a massive transitional period for anime. You had the transition from 4:3 to 16:9, a transition towards a stronger focus on digital colouring over traditional techniques, and over this time period there was also a shift in the predominant trends in anime art styles and an earnest attempt to integrate CG, hand-drawn and digital art all together (and often poorly, studios were learning new things and experimenting). Even the kind of music that would be used for anime songs started shifting rapidly towards particular sounds and genres for different moods (The distinct "electronica with female vocalist" sound I would normally associate with "I've Sound" was basically the sound of young adult anime for over a decade). As a result, what you see here in the year 2000 is much more reflective of the trends of the 90s than of the 00s. Things wouldn't begin to settle until around 2003 and even then it would take multiple years until everyone started following the trends (4:3 anime were still around all the way up to 2007, for instance). I hope the intention is to go through all the individual years of the 2000s in order so you can see these transitions happen over time, until it reaches the first modern Golden Age of anime - the mid-2000s.

Toukbird

I think there was a bit of a misunderstanding here, Luke. This isn’t a list of best anime OPs from the decade of fhe 2000s, but the year 2000. Trust me, there are A LOT of better anime OPs that came out during that decade. Also, you probably watched the Hunter x Hunter remake, not the original series. There have been quite a few anime during the 2000s that have seen remakes. Fullmetal Alchemist, Hunter x Hunter, Fruits Basket, Rurouni Kenshin, Spice x Wolf, Kanon, Boogiepop Phantom…and that’s just off the top of my head. For some reason, anime studios liked creating anime from on-going manga and light novels and instead of doing a hiatus to let the OG get back ahead, they’d create anime original content that everyone hated, so they decided rebooting a bunch of these later so that they were more faithful to the original story. Yeah, the 2000s was such a weird time for anime…

Toukbird

I think Luke misunderstood and thought this video was the 2000s decade and didn’t realize this list was the year 2000. Oh trust me, if this were the decade, I’d be blowing a gasket not seeing any of the GITS:SAC, FMA, or Key/KyoAni OPs not making it.

JimenezC

Since it's been pointed out that these songs only cover the year 2000, here are some anime from the 2000s that you haven't heard the openings of and hopefully maybe you'll react to someday: -Air Gear -Xxxholic -Ouran Highschool hostclub -Zatchbell -Natsume book of friends -Black Cat -Prince of Tennis -Getbackers

Barack O. Llama

someone tell luke that the hxh author has been making chapters for years lol. i think someone misinformed him and said that this is a new thing. yes he's making them faster than before but he released like 10+ chapters a year or 2 ago and now he has 20 ready currently. no the anime won't be returning soon as the current arc would need to finish

Kay

You could react to the top retro Openings from Germany too. They are also pretty fun

Alexandre Géhin

idk how well the new arc would translate in anime form, it'd be a lot of dialogue wouldn't it

Sian Richardson

Yeah. DC anime started around 1995/6. The manga started 1994. As old as you approximately.

Sian Richardson

Yeah. I was watching this thinking that it was weird I didn't recognise many. No way this was the best of the decade.

Sian Richardson

Very surprised to see Ayashi no Ceres on this list but it definitely deserves it. Great song. But yeah, this is only the year 2000, not the whole decade. Please do a proper 2000-2010 best openings video.

Huro

i dont know everything youve seen Luke, but Naruto is from 2002, so that might be the oldest one youve actually seen. Monster is from 2004 so its closer. Hunter x Hunter manga is really old but youve seen the 2011 anime adaptation so no, it isnt your oldest anime watched.

Zer0

One Piece started Oct 1999 and will be airing the 1160th episode in a couple days. If you want to complete Once Piece this decade you will need to watch more episodes than you did with Naruto.

Zer0

You didn't watch the 1999 Hunter x Hunter. You watched the 2011 version.

Barack O. Llama

the lots of dialogue isn't out of choice tho its just coz togashi can't sit down and draw much without being in pain. im sure if they ever wanted to make a new arc he'd give them guidance

Jessie

Not to mention full metal panic

davguev

@Slipstream +1 to Baccano! and Noir.

Trouble makers

petition for luke to react to detective conan except the fillers which is half the show

Silvered Fox

I would love if you someday got to react to the og 1999 hunterxhunter sometime, and maybe yu yu hakusho sometime
