I actually don't think Hatsume's VA suits her at all. In the dub she's really hyperactive and dramatic which suits her perfectly. Her Japanese VA makes her sound like she's much older and her speech doesn't really match her mannerisms.

Hatsume's a lot of fun as a character. Same type of obsessive as Hange from AoT (saw her mentioned in another comment here talking about voice actors which brought the character to mind, credit where credit's due!). And Tokoyami's a badass. The show does a good job of gradually introducing the supporting cast and their abilities so you don't get completely overwhelmed right off the bat.

Do you speak Japanese? I very much can and I say her Japanese VA suits her just fine. Her speech most definitely matches her mannerisms. The inflections to some of the words is quirky & dramatic and her cadence is hyper. Even the way she says "baby" is specific and ultra characteristic. She doesn't sound any older than most VA I've heard either.

Okay fine, let me clarify. I don't speak Japanese and maybe I worded it wrong, rather than her speech, I *personally* don't think her delivery fits. I wouldn't say she sounds old per se, she just doesn't sound like a highschooler.

18:35 To answer your question, Tokoyami's VA is everywhere, you may know him as the voice for the Armored Titan's host in Attack on Titan. What All Might sensed was Deku was quick to understand that while he did an amazing achievement of being "First" in the obstacle course, Deku quickly realized the pressure of being #1, and staying/protecting his #1 position out of everyone. Being All Might's replacement as #1 and being the beacon of hope to the entire world has extreme pressure.

No... Just no. The American Va's all sound like adults in their 20-30s, Moreover, they sound flat and monotone compared to the level of inflection, expression and emotion that the Japanese VA's bring. There have only benn a handful of anime I've been able to enjoy in dub because the characters were overly dramatic or adult. FOTNS, Deathnote and a few others. For the rest, it's Sub for me, all the way!

Nothing about that says sarcasm, nor does it make sense sarcastically. It's nothing to do with British humour (I'm British and didn't see the humour in it.), and no, we obviously didn't think people transformed into horses (or was that edit comment meant to be sarcastic as well?). Personally, I remember wheelbarrow races at school, but never horse races. Certainly nothing like cavalry battles.

It's not actually. Uraraka. Ra is very similar to la (halfway between ra and la more or less). There's not rock sound. As someone else said: "ooh ra ra ka".
