Obviously it is based of asian culture, but the bendings are based in different marcial arts from modern to ancient cultures fighting style, and they move differently, I wanted to tell you this bc I see you get a little confuse when they do different elements like "if I have air don't I have them all or fly?", that I will not answer xd BUT the level of detail in this power system you might love it for all the training It is different to be a BENDER than to be a MASTER, bender only means you can "control" an element, but you still have to think of a way of doing it, and practice the technique, like marcial arts, katara could do more, but doesn't know how, the more you try to do the more intricate it is to control in mind plus body plus spirit. water being more flexible move set, earth a lot firm stronger, air free quick and fire direct open, you could see differences, stances and the skills improve even the normal non benders have different fighting styles like kyoshi warriors foscus on defense light and grounded, again all based on a lot real cultures of the world

It's something I respect so much about Don Bluth and hate about Disney, Don Bluth says I's fine to make kids sad or scare the shit out of them aslong as there is an happy ending. Disney just takes great stories and dumb it down and really looks down on children, It's all watered down weak shit, Every Disney movie can be predicted frome beginning to end, before you've even seen it.

Yo Luke, I heard u wanna start a K-Drama, if you like action, there is a good one that’s actually on Netflix, it’s not too much a drama but more an action show, it’s called “My Name” it was good, I used to watch a lot of K-Drama with my K-ex, we also watched a funny romantic one as it was coming out called “Business Proposal” totally cute and funny, would recommend, it was one of my first and one of my favorite.

so this is actually one of the episodes wich shows best why the fire nation is so dominant in the war. It isn't fully explained in the show but the fire nation is rich on minerals and Cole and stuff like that. It is also technologically the most advanced. I you look at other countries "weaponry" you will find them to be decades behind. And it shows how they would or are able to reach the top of the air temples.

They DO intend this for a younger audience, so death (of named characters...) tends to be fairly rare for the level of danger faced on a daily basis, but when they go for a serious moment they don't really shy away from the full emotional weight of the scenes they've set up. Its a beautiful show. Honestly one of my favorite pieces of media of all time... And while it's probably not quite my personal #1, it might be the one I think is the most perfectly made. They just don't miss. The themes are amazing, the characters are great, the development is real and relatable... There are things they could maybe have done *differently* that would also have been cool, but its hard to imagine anything that could have been done *better*. And the best thing is, the best is yet to come. Book One is amazing, and I'd still comfortably say its the weakest. :)

Streams swapped to 4 episodes at the start of the year to give Luke time to actually discuss & theorize like he has in the past. The naruto streams and some other shows were sadly suffering as he'd have to rush to the next episode to fit 5. I know this choice annoyed some viewers but I do hope most people have seen the benifit its been in reactions like haikyuu & avatar.

I’m from the Midwest, and a few years ago in Jan, we had -60 windchill with -40 degree weather. Plus that was the year that it just kept snowing and snowing and it was so cold that it never melted, so it just kept getting hire. It was awful 😂 lots of school days missed that year for the kids, even our store closed several times.

Bad movie that's fun to watch? DragonBall Evolution. KDrama? Parasyte: The Gray (not a reboot. It is what was going on in S. Korea while the events of Parasyte: The Maxim were going on in Japan) The Glory. LOTS of anime reactors have done this. It's outstanding. Live action, 16 eps. Go in blind.

It makes sense too, fire is energy and can be used for things like steam engines or forging metal. They basically had an industrial revolution before anyone else because of their circumstances. Earth and water could just be complacent and rely on using rocks and ice for construction, transportation, etc, but the fire nation needed to be technologically forward since their bending is less practical and their environment is harsh. Even basic wood construction is a liability for them so they needed metalworking. They can't just use earthbending to pick up and move stuff so they needed to invent machines to turn their free energy into useful work.

Just joined (paid) cuz I noticed you're doing ATLA. It's been a blast to watch so far. idk if you'll see this, but the *one* thing I would note about this show (in general, necessarily for this batch of 4 episode) is to give it some grace when it comes to minor plot holes/conveniences. For example, when the messenger delivered the letter for Bato to Aang and didn't ask any questions. You are correct to assert that he should confirm the recipient makes sense or only deliver to Bato, but that doesn't service the plot and even hand-waving that away somehow would waste time that could be used on another scene. I have a nasty habit of picking things apart in a similar way. I feel like there are many fights where last you saw Aang and crew are about to fly away on Appa but he doesn't have his staff but suddenly he has it again. I've learned to let things like that go because while some are genuine mistakes, most are "imagine this part that doesn't service the plot, okay" , and the ones which are mistakes don't really make a difference...at least I can't recall any at the time of typing this comment; it's entirely possible someone will "um, actually" me and honestly I'm okay with that because it'll mean I (re)learn something new! Others have given you various opinions on "oh I can't wait until you see episode X" or "oh it just keeps getting better" etc. I see no need to bother with that. At most I will say I'm confident the quality will be sufficient for you to finish the series (i.e. setting the lowest possible bar, not reflecting my personal opinion) and I'm eager to see your reactions to the rest of the journey!

1 i didnt think luke realized that aang and katara had lessons from master paku for a least a month and 2 Luke your children can watch avatar, speaking from a perspective of someone who has a degree focused on children, they can learn from a very young age what is death, feel sadness and negative emotions, its healthy for them to experience things that are natural to happen but with the appropriate way, and Avatar has it, the scene didnt show any gore or something too much heavy for a children, i get it because you are their father you dont want to them feel this, but they already feel some way or another, they are people living just like you do, shield them from it will not help, so you can absolutely let them see avatar the last airbender with no fear because they will learn snd grow so much of that experience, you will see

Longtime fans of this show were unsurprised when it won a Peabody award for “multi-dimensional characters, unusually complicated personal relationships for a cartoon serial, and a healthy respect for the consequences of warfare.” AtLA doesn't show much death, but it does do what most kids shows gloss over: people die and get injured in war.

I mean, yeah. I can understand the spirit using Aang as a channel to manifestate itself. But Aang was still doing waterbending moves inside the big water fish. And noone should be able to waterbend. If anything, the spirit controlling the water without waterbending.

Luke has brought this up a lot. Especially in FMA: BH and Avatar-TLA. This idea of "This is for kids?" "You guys said you watched this as a kid? What's wrong with you!?!" This is a thing Western society gets backwards. Trying to shelter thisr kids from the truth that leads to life lessons that makes them grow. Avatar is perfectly fit for a young teen, FMA is perfectly fit for a 15ish yo. Hardship and as extension so they don't have to personally suffer as much viewing stories of suffering is nourishment for your soul, character-building. Why is there the concept of the sheltered kid that is a brat? I started Avatar at around 6 or 7 years old and finished it a few before 10 for sure.
