Finally

Cyber

the real real ones still had that tab open and watched both episodes and then realized it's the older episodes before it was taken down :D

Cyber

is it me or does it seem like he was mistaking arima kousei (tanjiro's VA) with Piano man Aiza's name (eren's VA)? nevremind, maybe it was the wording

Zandrick Krowe

This will always be a special anime for me. One of those that will always stick with you.

I miss March T_T

Luke has reached the point of "I want to see what happens, but I can't watch!" I also like the face he made as he noticed the parallels with the medicines. It's a good catch and a powerful visual. and it hits. Now I can't wait to see ep 13 reaction. I'm very interested to see what he thinks. It's maybe my second favourite episode.

Jay P

It's rare to see anime anymore where I can praise direction this much. But just in this episode: from ep.1 we have had these weird comedic slapstick moments, where Kousei starts to bleed from his head. bringht red blood on the screen. It's played as a comedy, but feels weird, too real. Then we get to 'This' scene, and it all hits. we see him hit in the head by a cane, bright red blood with all other colors muted. Now it feels super real, and makes the whole scene as uncomfortable as it deservest to be. This anime is so well made.

I recently became a father in the last two years so I have a long way to go haha but I’ve noticed myself talking to other friends who have newborns and saying “Wait until your kids are this age… it is so much fun!!” It’s hard to not get excited for the times that come later but also trying to make sure to take in everything in the present! This has nothing to do with the episode but our comment about parenting made me wanna talk about it 😁

Cart

If you like piano anime you should watch Nodame Cantabile :)

rikenad

We need to watch the next episode nowwww 😭

David Stowe

Way I always interpreted emi's comment about rejecting kousei, is that she's become a pianist that puts her full emotions into her playing to reject the machine that he became. In a way of trying to bring him back to that first performance that moved her so much.

Some0neElse

38:10 She wanted to say "Look at me! Im the captain now" 😂

Daniel Thunberg

"Your Lie in April" Episode 10 has "after credits Scene" Takeshi loves the robot perfect playing Kosei. Emi loves the human emotional playing Kosei.

Kousei's mom has a very tactile form of parenting. Following rules matters in some families more then others. Proverbs 13:24: Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them. Maybe we should try to understand Kousei's mom's feeling before we make up our minds. What was driving her actions? What would make a person act that way? Emotions are powerful, but logic says something lead to this tragedy. I wouldn't hate Kousei's mom so much as I would pity her for what she's been through to end up the why she was. She died alone, knowing what she had become. Why wish more tragedy upon her? Two sides to every story. Only fools & God makes judgements. ;)

Tinypix

Discipline is different than punishment and physical harm. While I agree that there is more to Kouseis mom that we haven’t seen yet, including her motivation/reasoning behind her actions, this is still no excuse for ever hitting a child. It wasn’t even a one time thing that occurred. Kousei and his mother have a very complicated relationship and I love how the show portrayed it. I also agree that we should always strive to understand others and the baggage they come with, BUT this does not mean to not acknowledge when hurtful actions are made.

Leonardo Postacchini

I was starting to get real worried you were not reacting to this animore. You made my day with both this reaction and the news Haikyu is coming back. This anime is painful to watch, I am here crying my out along with you, it is also beautiful. As for they are not real people, the emotions a are real, that is the point of art, right? It is to use words and sounds and images and movement to express yourself and your emotions. The people in the anime are not real, but those who drew them were real humans, making real art, expressing their real emotions. As for the mother, I fully agree with your rage, as fathers, when you see her side of the story it breaks you.

xeonwarrior

I cant believe they made you watch this. I swore after the first viewing id never put this evil on me again lol. good luck. IYKYK

Itto Sanzzo

"Different from other music animes"... let's get him to watch Takt Op. Destiny hehe

"She's in a wheelchair. ....... Maybe there are some stairs nearby."

Here’s a Taylor video you might want to react to (if not already! : Taylor Swift - All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Live at the All Too Well: The Short Film Premiere) This was the first time she performed it live for an audience. Tom, your west coast correspondent…it’s a beautiful day here on the Oregon coast!

Slipstream

Good parents stop bad behavior before it starts. Good children don't need to be disciplined. The parent/child power dynamic works best when both parties understand their roles. When one or both parties do not respect this dynamic. Life threatening consequences are not uncommon. It has been this way since biblical times. Is man so wise that he knows best? God has offered his wisdom. It is up to us to put it to action.

LKCynric

Thought you got how Eri feels but you seam to still be a bit confused. She became a pianist because of his first performance that was so good it made her cry and she didn't even understand why. Then he "became a robot". He was her hero only to turn as cold as steel. She will reject that, she's someone who pours her soul and feelings into the music, like Kaori, she wants the pianist he was before to come back. That said... this may become clearer in the future episodes, though it was all said in this one.

Canelas

Dear Luke, Arima not Aruma Thank you and have a safe Your Lie in April journey

Earl Preston

Luke - it seems you are more attached or more resonated with this anime than some of the others. i can certainly understand why now more than ever. I appreciate the insight. you've always worn your emotions on your sleeves i think is the proper phrase. thats what keeps bringing me back for the geniune reactions. you even own up at the end of a series like highschool dxd when youre just in it for the slapstick and rip apart the nonsense parts (well ok most of that was nonsense but you get my point). Please take care.

Earl Preston

yes i dont know why i picked this up again myself. i thought id never watch it again. somethings you cant watch more than once. but im glad i did. This year has been rather difficult for me so maybe in a cathartic way it helped. - im ok its just life event stuff.

Earl Preston

also this always stuck in my mind where a lot of animes ive totally forgotten. but granted i just remember its music and the ending. but thats a sign of a good anime that it can stand out at all.

Juan Not

I got here late, but the wait was worth it! This reaction is a journey, to revisit one of the dearest animes I have ever seen

Danny

As a newer father, your comments on family are hitting harder than ever. I wholeheartedly want the best for my son and I can't understand the people that just complain about their family

TalesoftheBoojum

If there's a real villain to this piece, I say it's the dad. He leaves his dying wife alone with a head full of fear, despair, bitterness, and chemotherapy drugs and their 11-year-old son to be responsible for taking care of her with nothing but piano playing and convenience store egg sandwiches. Chemo brain doesn't excuse Mom's behavior, but it does help explain it. Dad, on the other hand, has no excuse.

Phoenix_mercury

19:10, yup, neither me of my brother(currently a teen) ever hated our parents(nor my brother hated me, I partially raised him including into his teens), they've been our rock, our safety net through the best and worst things, if a parent says about their teens hating them then I question what is the parent doing that's making their kids hate them?

Phoenix_mercury

E9 still breaks me, even more so now I'm older, I raised my baby brother practically as my own and have absolutely almost gotten in legal trouble after someone came very close to laying a hand on him as 16 y/o when a grown ass adults tried to absolutely backhand him as a 7 y/o... No one touches my little brother

Fay X84

By the way, the blonde little girl next to little crybaby Emi is Kaori 😅

yorozuyapetel

I’ve heard you rant about parenting countless times but this one definitely hit the hardest. That poor kid just did everything he could to make her happy

yorozuyapetel

I watched like 8 minutes before realizing it was an older episode 😭

Vicente Gómez

Pianist here. When you press a piano pedal, a mp3 file of the song you want to perform starts to play. Useful when you forget how to play

Jessica

Started watching the reactions because i figured it would be fun to see luke suffer like we all have…but now im right there with him just being fucking depressed 😭

Zolfried

Having keystrokes accurately animated sure makes a difference.

Arctic_Hokkyoku

The emotion in Animation is hyperreal...it captures the immagination and makes it real. Nothing else can do this but Human passion.

jdoggivjc

To this day Emi's performance still lives rent free in my head. And I understand it's just an animated sequence up against a professional pianist, but it's the story and emotions that go along with it - her being inspired by a young boy barely big enough to sit at the piano, that boy being turned into a robot by his mother, only for him to disappear before she had the chance to beat him back then... only for him to reappear again years later, and she could beat him now, but what does that even mean if he's not at their level anymore?

sparkfly2000

Your parental instincts were on full display this reaction and gosh, we love you for it, Luke

Daniel iacomi

Based Arima: end yourself! Mother deserved the worst tbh.

Miss Malice

He's a reverse Pinocchio. His mother carved the heart out of a real boy and made the perfect puppet. Emi fell in love with his piano playing before the emotion was literally beaten out of it in favor of "perfection". That's why she's so angry. She remembers how his music made her feel before the soul was ripped out of it. That first concert she witnessed was his mother's "test" to see if he could handle it before she pushed him for perfection. If he had failed or gotten stage fright, she probably would have pushed him down a different path, but since he succeeded, she had the perfect puppet to mold into her ideal.
