i am just now noticing the "will it reach them" phrase again. yea kinda significant there. Actually when nagi was saying it i thought of the song Can you read my mind from the first christopher reevers superman movie "superman the movie". This is my second time watching this series and it is making me apprecaite it more. yes its devastating but theres so much more nuance to pick up on the second way through rather than just pushing through. i cant remember if i watched it "live" first air or afterwards. This makes my fleeting memory of the ending that much more impactful. i remember two beats from it and this really strengthens it even more. its not just that "sad anime" anymore.

This episode has probably my 3rd favorite musical piece played on this anime but it may be my second favorite episode.

Once finished, you will have completed one of the harder anime to watch. So kudos to youdos. YLIA is a brutal watch. The more you embrace it, the more it will hurt you. Question for the musicians watching this. I am not a musician so I genuinely want to know. Throughout this series, they are constantly saying that music can express feelings via instrumental music, but I always thought that instrumental music was only able to give general emotions (sadness, happiness, laughter etc) but it seems to be more than that. My question is if music can really express the emotions as nuaced as the anime portrays it to be? For example, in Kousei's performance in an earlier episode, the audience was describing that they were seeing Kousei playing the piano with a girl (Kaori) sleeping against the wall. Can instrumental music be so nuanced that it can portray that imagery?

I grew up practicing classical music as a choral singer so its fascinating to me seeing someone surprised by so many things that seem obvious to me about music xD But yeah, this anime really captures musicians very accurately and well. The desires and the frustrations alike. It's all so real. Being in the music world when you listen to other performances you have the technical aspects of the music in the back of your head at all times and its hard to detach from that which gives music a different shape as you interpret it. I guess it makes the abstract in music have structure to it. Loving these reactions.

Quick answer: yes The music really can express the general emotions in much more detailed ways, making us imagine whole stories, dialogues, sceneries and all kind of emotions. Music is a so much beautiful language to express our feelings

This is one of my favorite episodes, its here we see the transformations. Kousei when from a kid terrified of not being able to hear the sounds of the piano to a pianist that WANTS and MAKES the sound go away because he plays better this way. "I cant concentrate I still hear the sounds" "disappear". Amazing moment. Also Remember when this character was introduced and you didn't like her? or at least didnt understand WTF was happening? Now look at this amazing performance! That ending. And they give us hope again.
