Krawbs

Making us wait for this episode on patreon was very villainous!

Argon

One of my favorite fights.

Yariko27

One of the best episodes MHA ever released

Yariko27

Love your reactions Luke keep em coming 🔥

ThiamThi2

i left the youtube version to come watch here 😂

Meteoria

That was a painful wait hahaha, glad it's up though

Daniel Gonzalez

On my birthday! Aw Luke you shouldn't have jk I've been waiting since I woke up

Shock

to us the "despite her age" part seems wild. but you gotta know , tiger is a trans man ( confirmed in manga only ) so he knows the struggles women go through cause he used to be one. in japan the dating world is as you can probably tell , is really focused on youth and appearances. thats why damaging her face would ruin her for the dating market. and her age too , most couples are 40+ man dating women in their 20s. older women aren't often in the dating pool or sadly dont last long with a relationship due to either the man or woman cheating cause the partner isn't "desirable" anymore. its sadly a big thing in japan and korea.

Ara Araragi

Kota's always had a Quirk, and they hinted at it last episode. That impact crater that you were asking about was from Kota practicing with his Quirk in secret. The crater was wet when we saw it, and Deku mentioned before that both of Kota's parents had water Quirks. Quirks are hereditary, and about 80% of the population has Quirks, so it would actually be weirder if Kota was Quirkless like Deku.

Misustar

HEY! Saga of Tanya the evil season 2 is coming out!. first episode was cinema so far

Owen Herodm

"This is where the fun begins"

Hamad Panzer

Thats exactly how i felt when i watched this ep for the first time. thats why i love your reaction men.

Warren

THIS EP NEVER FAILS TO GET ME HYPE

Pirta

Kota trying to use his quirk to save Deku activated him & his willpower kinda like Deku running to help Kacchan helped All Might 🥹 (also the percentages aren't all too literal, they're more... vibes)

Cosmic Mumen Rider

during the USJ incident in season 1, when they fought back against the villains, that was self defence, they werent using their quirks to serve justice or act as a hero but merely to keep themselves alive, its the same as if someone breaks into your house, in some countries its legal for you to incapacitate the individual breaking into your home with a lethal weapon in the name of self defence, however, it is not legal to, say, go and shoot someone because they broke the law, same premise

Warren

I don't think anyone said Kota was Quirkless he just dosent use his since he hated quirks and Hero's

IAmABacon

Love this episode. The 1mil% thing, I believe is just Deku yelling to hype himself up. It's not possible to go over 100% of your total power lol. But in saying that, when he talks about % of his power, I dont know how anime characters always seem to know this. I would assume they are just guessing and he didnt really know what his limit was. Cause I certainly wouldnt know how much I could do while filled with adrenaline until I did it

Awsmspaceball

to answer your questions, people are allowed to use their quirks, just not on other people or other people's property unless you're a certified hero, or have been given permission by one. Kota nor anyone else ever implied he was quirkless.

SCD

seen this scene many times and it still gets to me

BlakStatik23

The way I’ve heard it explained over the years is basically, the adrenaline and impossible nature of the situation, with his willpower, caused his body to do more than it would normally be able to. The comparison I’ve heard most is a parent lifting a car to save their kid that’s trapped under it. The percentage definitely wasn’t literal this time around, I think it was just to show his mindset and how much further he was willing to go to save Kota.

David Bartusek

well, it was worth the wait :D best thing is that in this anime there is so much of these epic episodes, that if i were to count them im sure that i would need more than 20 fingers :D.

Nalwin

Deku just pulled it out, said not today muscle guy

виина

I don't think Deku's 100% are same level as All Might's 100%

Yula

Literally Luke!! We have the same reaction when I watched this episode. I got teary eyed and this is what locked me in MHA. I love Deku. 😭

Kyle Jr.

Always tear up with this episode

davguev

0:45 You got me.

Frentzy

half of those 20 are in the last season.

charlymoon

this episode and a certain episode from season 4 is what defines MHA for me

Neki

The 1,00,000% is just him telling himself that. It's basically how All Might used 100% plus ultra vs the Nomu in season 1. Deku is also still holding back, not wanting to kill the villain and still using a busted arm to do it.

leocharger14

So the rules for quirk use in general for civilians. 1) no using your quirk in public. HOWEVER, due to how hard it is to enforce this, most people turn a blind eye to it as long as your not being malicious, a nuisance, or flashy about it. No one will berate izuku’s mom for picking up an object off the ground with her quirk 2) you can use your quirk to protect your self from harm/ self defense, You are to avoid bringing harm to others. So izuku using his quirk to punch someone would be a big no, but using to run away from danger would be fine. 3) your free to use your quirk within your home or on private property if the owner allows it.

botanbutton

yep, sucks but it's true.

LookingForOwls

They never once said anything about Kota not having a quirk lol

Mis6s6y6

Fantastic reaction 💯 I love Deku too! Can't wait for the next one !!!

Spa7his

I take the 100% thing as it’s the strongest punch Midoriya could do. I don’t think All mights 100% strength is the same as Midorya’s as Allmight is just stronger overall. I feel like the buff just amplifies your strength, not is a set strength

Argonaut77

In the words of Yami from Black Clover(same VA as Allmight in the dub) "Surpass Your Limits. Right Here. Right Now."

_____ Rasse _____

The reason they're being told to not fight the villains with their quirks is because they're still schoolkids and the villains are grown adults not above using lethal force on them. Fighting villains is incredibly dangerous for them no matter how busted some of their quirks are, so the teachers prioritize having them be safe and not by the villains if they can.

Kyle Garrett

Luke if you've heard about Hysterical Strength in real life, that's basically what 1 000 000% is. Your body naturally stops you destroying yourself, but in a life or death situation it can release those limiters. The most well known example is a parent lifting a car off their child, even though normally they couldn't lift that car no matter how hard they try. Same thing with Deku. Even at 100% his body is subconsciously holding back, but in that life or death moment his body decided that consequences don't matter if it ensures survival. So it was significantly stronger than a normal 100%, but not literally 1 000 000%. That name is just Deku hyping himself up.

Alex Davis

One of my fav episodes literally so peak, the dub for it is also amazingg

SharableCarcass

I love how Luke actually feels for the characters. The realest Reactor I have ever watched. I love My Hero!

Sébastien Montibert

I didn't know Tiger was a trans man, but it justifies why he's in what seems to be, at first sight, a "women team". It's cool !

Sam Davis

Oh I've been fuhkn waiting!!!! We are fuhkn here!! Still my top 5 eps of the entire series

Sam Davis

Shits getting real now!!

Matthew Harms

One of my favorite episodes in this series. Hits me in the feels every time.

Andrea Deffenu

The one million percent thing isn't exactly true, it's quite obvius in realty. The damage of one million percent on deku's body would be probably enough to tear him apart, and also tear apart the freacking mountain. One million percent was a thing deku said to give himself confidence and a mental boost probably. In terms of physical streght it was probably like a 130 o maybe 150, he obviusly put everything he had in that punch, but he can't go one million %

Xaniss

Dis why we love Deku

Legacy

One of the best voice acting in anime

Amurant

And now we try to understand why anyone would call it mid.

Rem is best waifu

Luke's legitimate reactions are always so awesome. This is why I have stayed here since 2023 and plan to stay. I love the emotions Luke is not afraid to share.

Dunesad

He did went past 100% of his power. It's what this series is all about, Go Beyond, Plus Ultra!!

ArtKi

Ref the wild coincidence of the kid's parent's killer being there. Not that wild. the league would only send villains with top tier quirks. There aren't THAT many out there.

IAmABacon

Not possible. If he goes "over 100%" it just means his 100% wasnt as low as he thought. I get that's it's all about going "passed your limits" and getting stronger. Thats fine. But the nature of 100% is impossible to surpass without outside influences

Joshua Vaughn

Deku said "Who the fuck put this limit at 100%? Who made that rule? Screw that" basically.

Willian Rodrigues

This is my favorite episode of all the anime, I shiver every time. I have been watching your videos for a few years and I have always been waiting for your reaction to this episode. Thank you, seeing your reaction is almost like watching the episode again for the first time. I crying bro.

Kdnthedon

That’s just recency bias, there really is a good amount trickled throughout the show as David mentioned

Joshua Lopez

My Hero Academia is a perfectly coded anime to hit Luke right in the feels over and over again.

dartcp

Yes, you’re allowed to use your power on private property—much like driving a car without a license on private land (that rule exists in Germany, too). However, the issue here is really about using your power to injure others; there’s a difference between simply using your power and actually hurting someone. (Keep in mind regarding the USJ incident in Season 1: that happened very early on, so the writer might not have thought that far ahead or considered the legal system yet.)

dartcp

Regarding Kota's power—you know, in that last episode where Deku was up at Kota's hideout and brought him the curry? There was a wet hole in the rock face there, and you were wondering why that was shown. He was probably secretly practicing there or blowing off steam, or something like that.

dartcp

Regarding the 100% and the 1,000,000%: it’s just a theory, since it was never confirmed in the anime. Presumably, "1,000,000%" is actually All Might’s 100%, and what Deku uses as "100%" is just the limit his body allows—or, as you said, a matter of technique. Alternatively, Deku might not be able to use the *actual* 100% because, while he has the power, he lacks the muscle mass to fully utilize it. Like I said, it’s never fully clarified.

ScarletWolf_10

The 1,000,000% thing was always tricky to me. In my head, I just assumed he fused the power of the three punches (First Detroit Smash, Delaware Smash and another Detroit Smash), that's why it's that number. If not, then it is kind of bs, but I don't really care, the moment is awesome.

Daniel Gonzalez

Such a great episode but its wild Deku legit thought he was gonna die in that moment hearing him apologize to his mom and call out All Mights name in what he thinks are his final moments then when muscular is to Kota wait a bit ill kill you in a sec and Dekus like not on my effin watch oh it gives me chills one of my favorite Deku moments

hussam abdelalim

I am sort of annoyed at the parents, if you going into that line of work, and have a very young child, don't work the same fucking shift, if one of them kicks the bucket, the other retires, at least until the kid grows up.

acejt

1m % has been explained as the my hero version of the real life phenomenon that is "Hysterical strength" the same thing that let's parents lift cars to rescue trapped children. It's that do or die adrenaline that let's you do super human feats at the risk of hurting yourself severely. In a world with quirks this had the effect of boosting one for all id assume. Beyond what was safe (but that's not a suprise for deku) its not somthing that can be repeated. It's just the intensity and desperation of the situation brought that out of him. This is my favorite episode in season 3.

T3RS1

You kept me waiting for this episode. My favorite from whole series.

Omux

There's an annoying screeching in the background. I tested it on both my PC and phone; it's less noticeable on the phone, but really bothersome with my PC headset.

HussienSenpai

You need to change your microphone

Holy Shot

The best explaination for the 1.000.000% bit: 100% does not mean the most possible strength, it is the most your body can normally draw out. Think about the stories of women lifting cars to save their kids from under them. Humans are strong enough to do way more, but it would damage the hell out of us; shatter their own teeth, breaking our own bones etc. That is why there is a "limit" to how much muscle we can use, but sometimes the brain and adrenaline short-circuits and bypasses that limit, which is how we get the "more than 100%" hits by All Might and Deku

Moshi

0:40 actually 3 days according to Deku

Moshi

8:30 think of quirks like guns, then remember Japan's gun laws are way more restrictive than the British ones.

CodeElite

yeah, it's called "hysterical strength". we humans can always do it, but our brains put limiters on us because using our full strength breaks our bodies JUST like Midoriya's power does.

Magic Fibre

80% of all people have quirks. I'm surprised Luke thought Kota doesn't have one. His quirk is the same as his parents' - it's to shoot water from his hands

Subaru130

About the strength of Deku's 100% vs. All Might's, one thing is that Deku's only using it in his arm. It's the amount of power All Might could generate in one arm, but it's not necessarily quite as strong as All Might throwing a punch because All Might can use 100% in his entire body. He'd be getting extra power from all the muscles involved in punching that aren't directly in the arm. That said, that's talking about All Might in his prime. He's a good deal weaker now because of his injury, so Deku's 100% probably is as strong or stronger than him.

Paul Turner

Tiger is a Trans Man and Magne is a Trans Woman. It is implied in the anime but never outright stated nor are their characters defined by being trans nor are they joke characters which I think is generally a good thing.

L.C.

This is one of the episodes that really made me love Deku. He is THE definition of a true hero. As soon as he heard that the little kid was going to be killed he immediately gives it EVERYTHING he has in one final punch. He got an adrenaline boost because he absolutely would not let that little kid be killed especially after losing his parents already. I believe that is exactly what gave Deku that last push. When Muscular said he was going to kill little Kota that made Deku turn into a monster.

Bryan Ross

Honestly, the 1 million percent punch thing completely killed my enjoyment of the show when I watched it. From that point on I just felt like none of the power percentages mattered. Deku is just saying whatever and he's as strong or as weak as the story needs him to be in whatever situation the writers needed. I know it's a very uncommon problem, but I could just no longer get immersed in the story after that.

SunTzu: the art-of-tea

25.40 worst commentary ever. are you blind my friend look and listen to this masterpiece instead of focusing on a sidenote

Saiden

While I agree that the 1 million % was him hyping himself up. The nature of training is to improve the body and quirk, so I don't think Deku giving 100% is constant in this context. Giving 100% to deadlift 200 pounds doesn't mean you can't train to deadlift 250.

Saiden

The Training Camp just so happens to be conducted on private property. ;)

IAmABacon

True, the value of your 100% can change, but 100% is always the most you can give at any one moment. But obviously his 100% at the start of the series wouldve been less powerful than it is now

SageJ

This is some light spoiler information. It is something that could be reached with some thought, but still.

SageJ

It was his “Go Beyond, Plus Ultra” moment, just without the phrase. The percentages always mattered, he just pushed beyond his limits due to the nature of what was going on.

Toasted Toad

Well yes, because 100% doesn't mean 100% of what you are now or will ever be capable of. It means 100% of what you can do now.

Toasted Toad

And the difficult one is that you're not allowed to use your quirk to prevent harm from coming to others. That's defined as hero work. And I can understand why the kids think this is kinda ridiculous. What they supposed to do? Stand there and let someone be killed?

One G. O A. T. One Dream

also we literally tolled that quirks activate at some point in early childhood, so its really not that suprising

Crimson

Never picked that up till now so thank you. I kinda thought it was foreshadowing the rest of what was to come, like danger lurking

Zwei

Deku's shout was the equivalent of a battle cry not his actual strength. It's more like hysterical strength

patros36

where was it mentioned?

bryanPSX

i said the same thing in a jojo reaction about the Survivor stand and Luke didn't believe it

RSquirrel

Damn, im a grown man now and this episode still makes me cry!

Donovan Tate

Did these reactions get discontinued? I don't see any updates for over a month

Regill Derenge

This is just trash writing. can punch with broken arms and suddenly 100000000000% suuuure. trash wrting

darkchaos125

1) It's not the first time he's punched with a broke arm 2) It's not literally 1 million, that's just Deku pumping himself up 3) There is very good writing, given the fact all quirks are generally physical abilities, meaning punching a wall means you injure yourself, there is very real physics and therefore, consequences and self-destructive self-injury happening here. 4) As we progress through stories, people pushing themselves past their limits or pushing themselves in general is what leads to the improvement of skills and abilities. 5) In real life, we actually tear and damage our own muscles to create new muscle tissue, often leading to a larger and more muscular shape. You wanna talk about bad writing, let's talk about Cyclops from X-Men being able to shoot a laser from his eyes that's the size of a semi-truck.

darkchaos125

From what I can see, he forgot to put these videos in his Boku no Hero Academia playlist/collection, you can still track them down by "recent posts". Someone needs to tell him about this issue though.

Regill Derenge

No. This is bad writing. He was passed out on the ground. Arm completely broken. You can't punch with a broken arm. This is just your typical anime power up from nowhere. It is lazy and bad.
