Was sooo happy I could finally hear the voice of my best character 😍😍🥰

Rem is best waifu

Rem and Ram are both 18/19. I promise each episode will just get better from here and imo Subaru and Ram are the MVP of this arc. BTW great to see and hear Rem again. 💙

Rem is best waifu

Rui Arneb is such a interesting character and her voice is by the amazing Konomi Kohara who also does Roxy Migard Greyrat. She is definitely the Sin Archbishop with the most potential to be a bratty little sister. Maybe a cute daughter in a different life.

Daiga AI

It's been 84 years... but she's back! Well, not really... but she's back and I'm sobbing :')

ZBY

Luke really need to watch the cut-content video after this

GdVortex

It’s been 10 years. 10 WHOLE YEARS! And one of the BEST moments of Re:Zero in the past 10 years it was. The wait has been agonisingly long, but oh how worth it it was.

Pyzlnar

I have a simple theory of why Reid's book leads to the memory's hall. His memory is _already_ in the second floor. If the books are like gates to take out the appropiate memory, it stands to reason you'd be able to pass deeper in if it's not there.

Sai

I can't keep up with Luke's Theorycrafting.

SinuHan

Can i tell you when I read this scene in the novel I lost my mind? Haven’t watched the episode yet but this should be at least top five rezero episodes if they do it right and im sure they will. Though let me tell you there is an even better moment later imo!

29 minutes. No opening, No Ending, No Commercial break. They went FULL SEASON TWO! Always Go Full Season Two! Energtic Dead Guy - use it for an anime title. Allow me to introduce you to "The Legendary Hero Is Dead!" wherein the dead hero is pretty damn spry. recent series. 0% chance you'll watch it. But I Can Dream! Yes, Julius is the strongest. He'd walk over Emelia. She parries, he breaks her sword and keeps going. The spellcasters might have a chance at a distance but he'd close that distance real fast and he's got evasive tricks. I don't think of Shaula as being in the party. Finding Reid's book so easily. Have to assume the library is intervening. Rui in the thumbnail. She's in the opening credits! She in the promo poster for season 4, cour 2! The mystery for s4 isn't who the big bad is, it's how the hell did they get involved! Rui doesn't have Subaru's memories of Earth. She DOES have Subaru's memories of his first trial in s2 (2x04) I assume Rui threw away Rem's memories because they were interfering with her eating Subaru's memories. After she ate Subaru's memories she had SUBARU's memories of Rem. Meanwhile, that little ball of Rem was biding her time to strike! Didn't have access to memories from Earth.

Stavik96

5:26 I mean yeah I'd say Shaula is the strongest. But I guess she's technically not part of their party, she's more of an observer, making sure the rules aren't broken.

Oscar Medina

That commentary on Subaru sounds like something that early Subaru would say fool himself into bravery, but not something he would actually believe.

Amberyootoob

She says Onii San so much but Oni chan ruined her plans!

Ravn

Subaru stop rizzing up Julius challenge (impossible)

Stavik96

37:37 I know she's doing some terrible things and all... but she do be adorable as well.

I'm really curious now about the Witches and the Witch Factors. The hall of memories being a place that purifies souls, removing their memories so they can be reborn, really makes it feel like the powers gluttony has are part of the Hall of Souls that are being used for corrupt means. So it seems safe to assume that applies to all the Witches and Witch Factors. If that is the case, then why are the Witches evil? Back in S2 when we met the witches, it felt to me like they weren't imprisoned unwillingly, but were there in hiding from someone or something. So I almost wondered if maybe they weren't as evil as history claimed, and that was a false narrative. Seeing Typhon's memories this season... they definitely were evil by human standards. My current theory is that, the Witches are like white bloodcells for the world. If the balance of magic gets misaligned, if souls refuse to reincarnate, if civilization starts to heavily damage the world, the planet defends itself by manifesting the witches. They wipe out large parts of civilization, bring things back under control, then they're supposed to die off and disappear until needed again. So on a human scale they seem monstrous and evil, but on a global scale they're a necessary evil. My current theory is that these Witches decided they didn't want to die off, and wanted to keep existing beyond their mission, and that's why both Witch Factors exist, and why they're imprisoned. They created artificial versions of their own abilities so others could serve the world's agenda, while they did their own thing, and then when that started to backfire, they hid their souls in that prison realm so they couldn't be reborn and could stay themselves. The problem with this is the Witch factors are throwing the world further out of balance, and with the witches hidden away, the world doesn't have a way to fix itself. So that's where Subaru comes in. The world needs to fix itself, and since it's natural tools to do that are lost, it took a soul from outside itself, and is forcing Subaru to create the 'correct' timeline. The power of the witches can modify things from this world, but since Subaru is from beyond this world, there's parts of him they can't modify or control. That might be why the witches are all drawn to him, and why he can hold a witch factor without being corrupted by it too. The only awkward part about this theory would be that other witch we've seen. Still clearly out in the open, working with the Witches cult, but they also are just constantly in the shadows and not being some overwhelming threat the way the other witches seemingly were? If the other witches had to go into hiding, why not her? I don't really understand her role in all of this. Maybe she is an artificial witch? Witch Factors were like the prototypes, but she's a fully artificial witch, and something about that forced the other witches to hide from not just the world, but her as well? Maybe the reason she's not openly dominating the world is because her power is meant to absorb the abilities of other witches, and she just hasn't had a chance to absorb any of them or something? I don't know, but that could maybe make sense... though it doesn't explain the ability we have seen from her. Looking forward to finding out more info as time goes on! Hopefully by the end of this tower I'll be able to make better theories about wth is going on here.

Kyle Garrett

Also I feel dumb for not even considering that Gluttony could be the reason Subaru lost his memories. In hindsight it makes sense, but with the library being all about memories I didn't really connect the dots. Though now that I think about it, is the Library linked to the hall of memories? After all if the memories are removed from souls, then those memories have to go somewhere, right? So is the Library where those memories go? Or is the Library able to tap into the Hall of Memories somehow to 'copy' those memories?

Kyle Garrett

My theory here is the reason Reid's book goes to the Hall of Memories, is because his memories are used in the simulation for the 2nd trial. If that trial wasn't running, the book would contain his memories instead. That'd mean that in theory anyone that's died could be simulated in the library, which is interesting to think about. It's also possible that maybe an intended part of the Library is that you're supposed to be able to access the Hall of Memories, and that's how you're meant to find books in the library? Go there, decide what books you want, they manifest on the shelves near you (which would also imply most of those books are there just for show). In that case it could be a situation where this aspect of Gluttony showed them books specifically to mess with them? That or without conscious control it just pulls random people from your memory to populate the nearby books? Not sure, but I could see that hall being how the library books get selected.

Hiraen12

Someone know which streaming have better translation for re zero im done with crunchyroll atp

Tee Toaster

The thing with the blue pearl I presume is: Rui wanted to eat subaru, but then she realized part of her own memories (Rem) is in love with Subaru and was preventing her. Thats why she removed Rem's memories from herself and threw them away. Thats also why Rem was able to walk up to Subaru, because her memories were still lying on the ground when the new Subaru entered.

Vicente Machuca

i think they either throw rem's memories because it would be really hard to go against subaru with those in them, but that would be weird because the other gluttony talked with rem's voice to ram, the onee-sama, or they might have drop every memory of rem about subaru and that's what appeared in front of him.

Harald Nassau

"Stand up. You are Rem's Hero" 😭😭❤️❤️. So Heartbreaking. So amazing.❤️

Oatmeal1504

You know nothing but PEAK is gonna happen when the episode is 29 minutes with no opening.

GTB

No, memories aren't just memories. You're greatly underestimating the connection between memory and identity. It’s a question that’s been debated for centuries. Today, it’s generally accepted that identity is structured around, at a minimum, a continuity of both the physical self and the mind (particularly memory). When either of these undergoes a significant change, identity disorders occur. Arui tells Newbaru that if he recovers his memories of the former Subaru, they will overwrite his own. Subaru will revert to the state he was in just before losing his memories. Therefore, Newbaru’s memories will disappear, which literally means => Newbaru’s death. It’s kinda the same as with Kaede, Sakuta’s sister in Rascal Does Not Dream... But Newbaru, even though he’s only existed for a short time, doesn’t want to lose the memories he’s made since his amnesia; he doesn’t want to disappear to make way for the old Subaru. In short, he values his existence and wants to keep living. This is something any human can understand. So the question Newbaru must answer is: How do I recover my memories without them overwriting my current memory and causing Newbaru to die? The blue orb is the reason our best girl "Rem" was able to appear to Newbaru ;).

Arctic_Hokkyoku

I got spoiled for gluttony showing up long ago, but it really was kind of obvious....I wish the Hall of Memories scenery wasn't spoiled for me tho.

Lucas Prestes

The way I see it I think that WAS rems memory gluttony threw away for some reason. She didn’t take it from Subaru she pulled from inside her, don’t know what her angle was there, maybe taunting Subaru? Which is hilarious if so bc she set herself up for failure, it was precisely that memory she threw away that snapped Subaru from her clutches

Arctic_Hokkyoku

My theory as an anime only, is that Gluttony wiped Subarus memories once but she only got his "True" loop" She knows about RBD because his inner monolouge and memories of dying, but she never "experienced" Death as a feeling and physical reality, but if this Subaru gets eaten she could because he is basically been reset in the world. That or she just wants to be killed by him because she wants to get off on death. Kinda wacky

Lucas Prestes

Ohh that makes sense! She can’t eat the same person twice and if Subaru still remembers rem she can’t eat his memories. That was the only part I was confused, but it’s ironic that throwing that memory away was her downfall bc Rem snapped Subaru back to himself before his personality split into two

Lucas Prestes

Also she won’t take on reid she is mortally afraid of him

Lucas Prestes

Right now I believe it was not that rems memory was fighting gluttony, but the restrictions on eating the same person twice, normally after eating rem Subaru wouldn’t have any memories left of her, but since he is an anomaly and had his own memories of her she needed to make space by throwing rems memory

GTB

What Arui says might help you guess why she threw it away ;)

Ttsukasa

Luke I was right there with you, holy shit the animators the music and sound team (you noticed it was heels!), the director, and the VAs BROUGHT IT. NGL I couldn't stop from crying, like idk it was just so passionate and Subaru way back in season 2 did say that Rem was the only person who would ever be strict with him and demand he be her hero (when the other witch imitated her and told him it's okay to give up)

Ttsukasa

I knew that when I was at the end of my rope, clutching my knees and wallowing in anguish, you would come and stay gently by my side. You would listen to my troubles, let me vent my insecurities and wring everything out of me until my tears ran dry. And then you'd say, "Now, stand up." You wouldn't tell me to just rest. You wouldn't tell me to just give up and entrust everything to you. You like me and I like you. You are good to me and you love me, but you are also stricter with me than anyone else. Rem is the one girl who doesn't go easy on me! I will show you my weakness and my fragility. But I will never let you see me give up! --Subaru to Carmilla disguised as Rem. Season 2, Episode 12.

ZabluLobsta

No way I got spoiled by this thumbnail 😭 I know its not luke fault, the patreon thumbnails are kind of random but still fuck

Joshua Vaughn

This is this, and that is that Luke. I believe you can defeat content creation. All you need to see is your courage.

Dairenji

Some notes on the "strongest line" Julius is definitely up there. The two I'd consider possibly being above him are Shaula and Beatrice. Beatrice is pretty tied to Subaru and his mana though, and we (At least as of this point in the Anime) aren't actually super familiar with Shaula's close combat abilities. She may require more set up than Julius. However, it's also worth remembering this version of Subaru had, to my knowledge, never seen Shaula or Beatrice in combat yet. So I can understand him seeing Julius as the strongest regardless if its true or not.

Mobile Offline Gamming

We litterally had the same reaction :') . This episode was so damn peak!!!!

One G. O A. T. One Dream

"but the gluttonies might take the hole damn cake" lmao! what is this might? OF Course they take the hole damn cake XD and the rest of the party for that matter.

One G. O A. T. One Dream

I dont think she has stopped aging, she just brain dead. people in comatose still grow old.

MonographicSingleheaded

5:44 nah, clearly since Shaula is so terrified of Reid, Julius could be stronger, especially if he got his spirits support back. it seems to be the difference bteween " I will be violated!" vs " I do not wanna win using dirty tricks." lol

MonographicSingleheaded

6:26 this episode should be showed as an example why I consider Subaru the smartest guy in that tower. he is a true genius.

Chishiya

Rem is serious the best girl. That scene with Subaru talking with Rem, I almost cried.

zenting

Maybe it's just me, but I think this anime is making less and less sense with each episode. I mean, WTF was that one all about?

Link

I don't know if the witches, at least not all of them, are inherently really "evil". It's more that they had desires to help, but these desires get twisted. The Witch of Gluttony created the Great Beasts to solve world hunger. The bunny replicate faster than it can be killed and eaten. The Great wale is enormous and can feed so many. The Great Serpent probably has a similar intention. But the powers made her give them the ability to ward off predators and eat them in return because that was what was "fair". Basically eat or be eaten. Typhon, the Witch of Pride, kills everyone that believe they're guilty when she touches them, because she wanted to cleanse the world of criminals. It's just that her power also make innocent people that believe they're guilty of the smallest thing, like not acting in a situation where they could have prevented someone's suffering or death (like the people watching the executions in her village), suffer the same fate as a mass murderer would. In both these cases you could see their desire as something good, but it's twisted into something that people of course would deem evil.

sparkfly2000

They did a great job making Rui truly disturbing. All Sin Archbishops are, but Subaru's horrified reactions completely sold this one. It got to me through the screen.

Saiful Saiful

Bruh that Blue balls that gluttony I think was rem memory which is why rem materialize when needed on second time Subaru there's, that's what i think maybe I'm wrong hope I'm right tho

Devilish132 .

Yep. You are right with this one. That's also why the pearl was blue, Rems colour. That scene where we see her doing that, happened with the original Subaru, the 1st time he appeared there. Not realising it is where ppl confusion comes from.

Stefan Jipa

30:14 what happened to our sweet inocent Luke?😂 This was spot on… 30:28 nice detail from 3rd gluttony, she can’t hear… 31:38 can’t agree more, and this is 2nd time watching this and also at the same time I am trying to finish reading amnesia Baru arc😭 38:45 if you remember from last season, gluttonies share memories between them, so all of then now about Subaru and his party’s location
