Animated movies? Great, wonderful, love 'em all. Musicals? Excellent, let's get some genre variety, super down. BUT NOW... ARE WE DOING MARTIAL ARTS MOVIES? MAYBE HONG KONG ACTION AS A WHOLE? If I can only recommend a few: -Police Story -Hard Boiled (not a martial arts movie, but it might as well be) -Iron Monkey -Fist of Legend

The same people who made Kung fu hustle, also made "Shaolin Soccer". Its not as well known but has a very similar theme, action and vibe. As well as sharing much of the same cast.

If the beetles are lying on their back, it's because they're dying. Flip them over, they're still dying. The body/leg design of many insects requires active muscle use to stay upright. Muscles get weak, as they're dying, flip over.

Very unexpected. This is what I grew up with. This one was at the tail end of the Hong Kong Cinema golden age for me. I love Stephen Chow. There's a lot of reference in this film; it's a love letter to kungfu movies and well as Stephen Chow's previous films. The Axe Gang is a call back to one of his film: A Chinese Odyssey part 1.

Yeah because Shang Chi and Marvel didnt exist DECADES before this movie. just because Shang Chi didnt get a MOVIE until recently... his character has existed since 1973..... soooooo yeah. Marvel movies arent exactly orginal... the got decades of sh!t to pull from... thats why they can keep making movies for eternity

You say you mostly watch animated stuff, but lets be honest, Kung Fu Hustle is pretty much live action martial arts Loony Toons. Not a big leap for your audience. 😂

This movie was my childhood movie. I've seen it multiple times and still love it. Its really popular in Asia at the time too. Stephen Chow is the MC guy, and is also the director. He directed many good movies as well.

It's hard to describe, but there's an odd understanding of the person you're fighting that you get from it. It's a sign of respect, an exchange of knowledge, it's all of these complicated things contained in something so simple.
