Oh dang I wouldn't have expected Shiki. It's really a crazy vibe of an anime and definitely worth a full watch

Ara Araragi

Episode list and start times: Shiki (2:02) Another (41:30) The Promised Neverland (1:21:38) Higurashi: When They Cry (2:05:00) Tokyo Ghoul (2:45:57)

IBG_Music

Oh I haven't watched Shiki since around 2013

Jacowab

To explain Promised neverland season 2 imagine they made a Red Rising anime, the first season fully covers the first book and its absolutely amazing, perfect pacing, beautiful animation, and everyone loves it. they are literally saying it could be the next MHA or Demon Slayer kind of hype show. Then season 2 comes out and it continues but suddenly the pace has really slowed down, then right before Darrow and Cassius duel Darrow wakes up and says "man I remember the old days" and then expositions dumps enough spoilers so you can understand the ending and then the series ends in 5 episodes.

Bersain Balbuena

Since he's already watched *Tokyo Ghoul* and *The Promised Neverland*, I hope that someday on Patreon he starts watching *Highschool of the Dead*.

Bersain Balbuena

Shiki is perhaps the anime that has come closest to truly scaring me. Great series; I hope to continue watching it someday.

Dulmyr

Man, Higurashi is sooo good, the first episode is there to shatter your expectation, and after that it's just downhill, and never stop.

Some guy

Yeah, Shiki is a slow-burn horror and really needs the full watch for the full effect. The twist as the anime goes on is quite interesting too. I don't think overall message works quite the way it is intended, but even with that, it is one of those haunting anime that stands the test of time.

Echoe

im glad i clicked found tokyo ghoul

Kitsune

I'm pitching in for Tokyo Ghoul, no matter what they say about the manga lol

Mericat

Shiki is incredible! I love rural horror and it’s definitely one of my favorites. And it’s pretty short, Luke should definitely watch the whole thing. Also, ngl it’s incredibly annoying listening to people moan about Promised Neverland season 2. For someone who never read the manga, it’s good! I recognize that the manga had a lot more arcs and an epic story that readers wanted to see developed, but if the studio knew that season 2 was gonna be the end of the anime, I’m MUCH happier that they gave it a proper ending than leaving things on a cliffhanger that would never be resolved. I’d love Luke to watch all of Higurashi, but he’s definitely going to need a guide for the timeline XD it’s an incredibly unique story structure but hard to follow and remember if you’re not watching straight through

Kitsune

I think the doctor just genuinely had no clue. If Rize was already completely dead with organs intact while Kaneki was half alive, it's reasonable he'd go with organ transfer since it's there already.

Amberyootoob

Luke confusing light and visual novels

Mic Pie

Higurashi is a classic and an amazing story. The original visual novel is obviously the best version of it but the anime is a decent adaptation

Amberyootoob

Luke you didn’t just wince you cowered away from it being on the stream.

Rickkk

Shiki is amazing keep watching

Nirmita

Shiki my beloved

shibanu_IM

I loved both season 1 of The Promised Neverland and Tokyo Ghoul, glad you watched ep 1.

Kirbyfullyloaded

Where do you go to suggest an anime he should watch next?

DRACO

Mind you Studio Pierrot adapted Tokyo Ghoul 322 chapters in 48 episodes (3 Seasons). That is insane. Season 1 was faithful to the manga, Season 2 off-script from the manga and made it to an anime original content, Season 3 was rushed from the manga made 179 chapters into 24 episodes.

David Stern

Would love to see a full higurashi reaction

Kenny Vu

No Gakkou Gurashi :(

Rem is best waifu

I haven't watched most of these since I started watching anime bc I liked horror movies. I can't find Shiki anywhere so it is nostalgic to see it again but I own Higurashi and Another. You picked some good ones but mieruko-chan the manga I really enjoyed and had a decent anime. My number one suggestion that also has a sequel for next year is Dark Gathering.

Dyblood

I hope you keep watching Tokyo Ghoul

Dyblood

The Goat

Orieng

I have been asking for Higurashi for 2 years now, so glad you watched the first episode :D

Alexandre Le Lay

A bit irrelevant, but you should hold a shoujosei tournament like you did with sports. There are so many that you would like. And same with horror since it's the perfect time to watch one.

Chris H.

I see Shiki, I click

Linikins

Shiki's definitely one of the few horror anime that actually feels like horror.

Vitor Augusto

I think ot would be great if you continued doing streams like this watching the first episodes or continuing the one's you watched here.

Lu C

Yes, we absolutely need one dedicated to shoujo / josei

Soard Scozocs

Tokyo Ghoul full serries would be great. First season is amazing!

Jennifer J

Ohh, Shiki, that anime still hurts me. I watched it a long time ago, and I haven't been able to watch it again. I hated Megumi lol. Hopefully you react to more episodes!

RealKOE

Id love the Tokyo ghoul series reacted to!

Juho Kaartoaho

The fence is obviously keeping out the killer roombas.

Barack O. Llama

omg tokyo ghoul and promised neverland? peak

Raingurr

Oh man, I remember watching a YouTube video of horror anime recommendations that included most of these anime and a couple others like Parasyte. I've got a bit of nostalgia for that time because I was just binging these great anime one after another and, unfortunately, even after a decade the pool of horror anime is still pretty shallow.

Barack O. Llama

Promised Neverland season 1 is lowkey a top 10 anime season of all time

Daniel iacomi

Tokyo ghoul isn't even horror tbh(it's just edgy torture porn) Promised neverland isn't good because it doesn't adapt the Manga properly (which is a masterpiece- probably no. 1 horror Manga for me). Higurashi is also a masterpiece(it's a mystery horror) but art style might scare some of the viewers. Shiki is also very entertaining but it doesn't inspire fear at all. (Story is actually very sad and soundtrack is one of the best in the entire anime industry). Another is also entertaining but has some unintended funny scenes that are supposed to shock you, but other people burst out laughing because of the sheer stupidity of the situation.

Regentas&Waristheonlyanswear

Will luke watch one of these animes fully for the halloween? or is just a teaser? Been waiting for Shiki and Higurashi for a long time, sadly never win the votes :(

Nikkelz

This was the horror sampler, was only intended as first episode teases. If you want to see him react to these in full be sure to watch/comment on the reactions when they hit youtube or support your picks to get into the tournament this sunday.

Regentas&Waristheonlyanswear

Thanks, ill try my best, really hope Shiki wins one of these times, it is one of the few animes that really shook me by the end and by that time I had watched quite a few anime and sadly it's not that popular by reactors and most anime viewers. Don't really known how to even classify it because has the standard horror elements but also a different kind of horror elements.

alexandre martin

i could do 10000000 backflip for a full reaction to higurashi pls pls pls pls pls pls

Kiwi

Higurashi is the 🐐

Lloyd

Blood-c and Another anime reactions for spooktober would go crazy

Yula

If you really wanna try horror nime the Yami Shibai is what you needed.

Zer0

You could try Perfect Blue for realistic horror, but it does have nudity in it.

Zer0

You're just torturing yourself watching only the 1st episode of a horror genre anime.

Potter889

Shiki is my favorite horror anime and I hope you pick it up officially. It's a slow burn and technically not extremely scary, but it nevertheless shook me to the core, and I still think about it often

Zer0

1:36:59 sometimes fences are there to keep people in. The Truman Show comes to mind keeping Truman ignorant of the outside world by making him afraid of water.

Zer0

I would rather you watch the full series of Goblin Slayer than during a one episode stream. Berserk is too divided on which version to watch. Goblin Slayer manga and Berserk have nudity. Goblin Slayer anime does not but does have borderline scenes where you know what's happening but don't see it.

Marc-Andre Bujold

Higurashi is a really underrated anime. It's old and the artwork can be rough but it's an amazing time. If you even watch it, I'll let you know something that is not apparent unless you read the book titles or the episode titles: The anime is split into smaller stories of a couple (2-3 usually) episodes. I don't know if you would like it, but it's really good.

Arthur

Tokyo ghoul is a must watch 💯

Brandon Mayberry

shiki is an amazing show I hope you continue it

Chaolao

Huh!?!?! Is that 2010 Shiki !!!!!!!

Chaolao

Please Luke! Give the 2010 anime horror a try! It's a slow burn, but the only worthy psychological horror animes I've seen til the very end. No horror anime has come close to its own version of horrors. The music/OST with that anime is created by the ones he work on Naruto, Fairy Tail, etc. Please Luke! Give it a go. Since it's October

acejt

Not gonna lie. I skipped straight to Tokyo ghoul to start. Because that's what I was excited most to watch. My first ever manga was Tokyo ghoul. And I loved every second. If you were to pick up any of these. That would be my vote.

Rare_pvk

so many good shows, shame 100k views is impossible, too niche.

Rare_pvk

yeah, School Live! has one of the best 1st episodes of any horror anime out there.

ORORA06

While the next seasons of Tokyo Ghoul are pretty much massacred (though with a few really great directed shots and moments). I would highly still recommend watching at least the first season.

mjaomjao2

Higurashi is the most disturbing show I've ever seen. I've been trying to get through the VN but it's a bit too stressfull/anxiety inducing for me so it's a bit hard to read, I'll finish it eventually though. The anime is a bit too fast paced to feel it properly but the tone shift from happy funtimes to serious time really mess with you.

Illiterate Mochi

It’s funny, it’s been over a decade since I watched Another, and I barely remember any of it, let alone the plot. But there are a few scenes that have stuck with me until now. And I’m not gonna lie, it made me afraid of elevators. Iykyk

Britt Quinn

I'm so excited that you started Higurashi!! Please watch the rest of the show, it gets even more creepy!

Lichmourne

I'd love to get a full watch of Tokyo Ghoul. Honestly, the worst part about each season is how horribly they weave them into the timeline because theres a lot of non-canon jargin in there. but... they do tie up the story and its not THAT bad. S2 is just horrible for the timeline. I think it's still a fun watch for what it is.

WhiteDragon6

Huh I've only watched the newer higurashi, although I couldn't quite make it through because I can't handle horror...

Slipstream

Try Aku no Hana. Then you will have new, most disturbing anime for your list. lol

GutterSnipe1

School-Live! is a realistic zombie anime.

GutterSnipe1

High school of the Dead is another.

Slipstream

Japanese horror is more of a psychological orientated horror style. While Western horror tends to be more jump scare oriented. Higarashi or Another are my two top picks. All are good. Shiki & Another back to back is an interesting idea. Just depends on how many episodes are needing to be filled.

GutterSnipe1

Going to watch Promised Neverland.

Some0neElse

Please tell me we gonna get a "horror anime" slot and watch all of these

Nellyk

IMO most of these shows usually need a couple of episodes to get a hook, Promised Neverland and Tokyo Ghoul being the exeption as they have a very good hook on first episode. And it's a personal opinion, but i don't really concider Tokyo Ghoul as horror but to each their own..

Danni Jensen

I'd vote the viewing in order of: #1 Higurashi #2 Tokyo Ghoul #3 Neverland

Yuji

You need to watch Tokyo ghoul

Aaren YASS

"it's like Madoka Magical and you all know how much I live that anime" BRO THIS IS SARCASM RIGHT 😭 genuinely lmk cuz he didn't look like he actually enjoyed it much

Aaren YASS

We've all been saying for years we want Luke to watch Higurashi!!!

Bubbles

Would love to see reactions to the first season of Promised Neverland and Tokyo Ghoul full series (I haven't seen the others)

wangog2149

Shiki is one of my favorite anime. I really really hope that you will continue it one day

WhiteDragon6

Hope you watch all of these eventually

PorterDragneel

Tokyo ghoul is a great show to me , one of my favorites . Definitely should watch the full show

Jroyce93

As someone who never read any of the manga i enjoyed all of Tokyo ghoul and the promised neverland. Sure the first season was far superior in each but i was invested enough to finish them and i still enjoyed them despite everyone's admittedly accurate complaints about them being worse. I dont regret watching it all and id say it was worth my time. It really is too bad they didnt do a better job though each of these animes could have been legendary if they did them right.

Kenra

You gotta continue the promised neverland, you’ll enjoy it

DeviousDoggo

You have got to watch through Tokyo Ghoul, it is top tier.

Ty L

This has been one of the best streams this year. Havnt seen you react to more niche anime in awhile. Was watching Hololive Subaru reaction to Higurashi. Another psychological horror niche anime is Shin Sekai Yori. If this streams continues to watch Ep 2, will be really happy.

Hououin Kyouma

There are plenty of realistic horror anime, but you just haven't watched them yet, that's all. Most of the live-action horror movies these days are extremely bad. They don't serve their purpose of being scary; instead, most of them are funny because of their ridiculousness.

Skyhark

Higurashi is by far one of the best animes I ever seen, when I finished season 3, felt like such a full and amazing journey of all the amazing twists and plots. Just a core memory of my early anime journey.

TOMfoolery

Please reacto to the entire first season of the promised neverland. It is sooo good!

Awsmspaceball

you know what sounds perfect to me. watch tokyo ghoul and promised neverland, but just season 1 of both. cause after that is when they go from peak to trash

みるてん

The Promised Neverland S2 is like after you watch AOT S1, you have the rest of the season in 12 eps with 80% deleted.

Ttsukasa

Literally only here for The Promised Neverland reaction, seems Luke you have another gem on your hands, don't fumble it like they fumbled Season 2.

nik

much better than just "decent" but yeah the VN is goated!

Mic Pie

I mean yeah technically it’s a good adaptation but after reading the VN I can’t call it more than decent. nothing really wrong with it it’s just that the VN is so good.

Matei

tokyo ghoul re just can t be defended. the manga is longer then the prequel and it gets adapted into just one season. you can t really understand anything. i realy encourage you to pick up the manga, even if you re not a manga guy. it grows on you. tokyo ghoul isn t just edgy slop, it s psychological story that depicts a morally gray world in a fantastic way

Sama Zodchi

Literally only here for Another, one my favorite of all time that i even bought the manga.
