Happy Friday!

This is a small update to keep you guys busy if you want to play with something new while I'm working on the new Alive UI. I don't know when that will be released but I'm aiming for v30.

NEW IN v27:

More idle movement. Previously the models rotated body parts here and there but they were unnaturally stiff. Now there's more idle movement to make it look more like a real person balancing and doing small position adjustments.

More expressions. There's a new Happy personality trait in the Personality tab, by default it's on. When this trait is active the model will have a new series of procedural expressions that are more expressive: more smiling, more mouth movement, more eyes & eyebrows movement

Eye sparkle. In case you missed it, in one of the previous updates I added eye reflections that are sharper, you can see the comparison in the video, i was not using any clothing eye reflection items. In V27 I added a functionality that makes the reflection sparkle to make the eyes a bit more realistic. It's hard to notice from far away but you can see it in the video a little at 1:05

One var, no dependencies. Dropped the resources .var and went through the free morphs from Kemenate, Ashauryn and Jackaroo that I've been using as dependencies and moved them directly in the var to keep it all as one package with no other work needed.

CHANGELOG v27:

- CHANGE: made the model always face the camera when teleported by pressing H or with triggers
- CHANGE: added more movement when changing body parts posing to reduce how often the model ends up in a knot. it still happens quite often though
- FIX: made head movement a bit smoother, reduced robotic shaking occurance
- CHANGE: eye reflections added eye sparkles to make the eyes look a bit more alive
- NEW: added new personality trait  Happy, on by default; new procedural expressions, more smiling and more eye movement
- CHANGE: gaze adjusted angles, added more side to side head rotation movement
- NEW: gait change, small up/down, side to side and back/forward movements
- CHANGE: moved aliveresources to main .var
- CHANGE: edited and moved morph dependencies to main .var to keep dependencies & extra work down
- CHANGE: reduced mouth breathing morph power
- NEW: added more micro movement to chest , hip & hands
- FIX: posing - prevent altering other controllers when changing just one specific controller or group

Great thanks for the progress! I wonder if it would be cool to have pre-established profiles with the settings made out and ready to use! I would love to be able to put my character in bersekers :p mode like a nympho or, conversely, depending on the mood at the moment, in girl friend mode, do you think that would be possible?

SPQRAeternum

yes, i'd like to do stuff like that and it's definitely possible. one of the main obstacles is the UI and making it be easy to use/play with. The new UI I'm doing should help with that

Tuckwit

Nice additions, however... I have a problem now with v27 that when I load a new pose for the girl (for example, load her sitting on a chair), she will assume some bizarre posture, like with her hands up in the air, or she will flop to the ground. Something seems to be taking control of her hands or other parts. Did not happen with v26. I've played with Alives posing actions briefly but I am not using them at the moment. (Nice future addition might be to add a trigger to load a random pose from a folder and have it transition smoothly as you do it now).

Great work as always. Haven't booted it up yet but i have faith. I do have a feature request though. Not sure if you've gotten this before - sorry if you've addressed this. One thing the old (now obsolete thanks to you) E-motion plugin did really well is it could focus completely on another person atom and all the features tracked over. is there a way to do that with alive? i.e. you could have two people with separate instances of the plugin looking at each other and not looking at the player necessarily?

SPQRAeternum

noo pls don't say that, it's not obsolete, it's awesome and still get updates. I'll try to add something like that

SPQRAeternum

I was afraid of that, that's all the new idle movement, leftovers from before the pose changed I think. I'll look into it and try to fix it, thanks for letting me know! I'll see what I can do about random folder poses, it's doable and not hard but I might avoid it for a while, sorry. The current new poses are pretty bad and hard to use, except for changing just the hands or upper torso for example, the rest often end up in knots, weird transitions, floating, under the floor, etc. The focus is just to get that to be decent. If I add more poses around that system now there would be even more problems with it

Tuckwit

Ok, thanks for the reply. I will revert to v26 for the time being. I just think that the smooth transitions from one pose to another are pretty neat and not something i've seen anyone else do, suprisingly. I appreciate the issues with transitions & knots etc. Thats why being able to choose poses or folders would allow only 'safe' poses, or a sequence of poses, i.e. Cowgirl hands on hips, hands on chest, or different stages of embrace etc. Means there are a number of things you can do without having to fiddle about with Timeline or AnimationPoser etc.

Hey, I have not tried v27 yet, but noticed in v26, I cannot disable and enable gaze with a trigger. You literally have everything else. Am I missing it, can it be added sometime? I sometimes have buttons to start and stop animation. I want to keep alive running, but just disable the gaze during the animation as the head does weird stuff with it on during the animation. Right now in this one particular scene, I disable Alive completely during the animation, which works fine, but I hate losing all the other features. No, rush, just another of the 100s of suggestions you get for such a great plugin.

Tuckwit

But you can, if the trigger selects the Person, Alive plugin, Enable Head Gaze (off). Just tried it, works fine.

thomas d

Crap, I must be blind, there has to be hundred selections, and I looked up and down multiple times. I guess I just missed it. Thanks!

Tuckwit

Or even, a girl doing a photoshoot where she changes from one pose to another every few seconds. Just a case of picking poses that won't tie up in knots.

Lapidarian Moraine

vradultfun hasn't updated their plugin nearly as much as you... but i take your point. E-motion is still awesome.

EudaemoniaLee

do you test your v27?the woman pose is terrilbe, her hand move it self,t-pose is terrilbe too.

SPQRAeternum

i didn't add them by choice lol. it's just that if you want to make a variable be persistent it will also be changeable through triggers. it's either that and have a million triggers or fewer triggers but everything else would always reset. or reinvent the wheel and make my own preset system there's also a limit to the dropdowns, you have to use the search feature to see some of the options

SPQRAeternum

i move fast & break things often, that's how i work. i had weekly updates here where i changed more than 50% of the code. you'll see many bugs. if you don't like that, wait for the final release that's gonna be stable and free i don't have time to make progress and keep everyone happy at the same time, sorry
