Agree that Sawyer’s plan ain’t going to work long term because… sleep. I did think this was within his character to do this though and I’m glad that they didn’t just make him a convenient “good guy” now that he’s done a few good deeds, because it’s never that black and white with anyone. Both Sawyer and Charlie are just messy, complicated people capable of good and bad depending on the circumstances.

He made it clear how he disliked the current view the islanders had of him + he warned jack at the very beginning of the ep. Locke fell for it like he fell for the cons prior. Locke and Jack butt heads over everything. Their attitudes in the meeting w the others was setup for this conflict.

I don't feel the conflict over the guns felt forced cause John and Jack's friction has been brewing all season. Started way back in season 1 when John lied about the hatch and Boone, Jack has thought he's crazy ever since. John started resenting Jack's distrust and also questioning his leadership style. An episode ago when they were both out trying to find Michael, both Jack and Locke were at each other's throats the whole time. This feud they had over the guns makes total sense to me, and highlights their different perspectives on how to do things. When there's a problem Jack is a go in quick and figure it out along the way type of guy cause of his ER surgeon background (example with the Michael episode where his plan was just to go after Michael without even really thinking about how he would get him to come back). Whereas John is the patient hunter type who lays in wait for his target to reveal itself instead of going head on (Like in this conflict where he doesn't think they should be arming up to go against the others, unlike Jack).
