The spell prepared with their divinity in the realm above, the ten gods responsible had descended to the world below only long enough to cast it before returning, erupting into mad, victorious laughter as they rejoined the rest of their cohort who’d waited behind.

The plan had been simple in its own way. They hadn’t been able to kill Ben without immediately making him ascend, and the chance of failure that came with ripping out his soul was too great for any one of them to want to admit, but that had led to a third opening. Don’t banish his soul, trap his entire body in that lower realm to suffer and die, leaving no escape or ascension for him once his flesh failed. They’d needed to find a god who presented as neutral to start the ruse, who had enough believers of the other co-conspirators' races as well for other deities to descend upon to make opening such a hole through reality possible, and they’d had to manipulate those believers in such a way that the secret couldn’t be gleamed in their thoughts by that dastardly mind reader, but in the end, they’d done it. Ben was gone, and the rest of the world would be infinitely safer for their choice.

If only he’d learned to manage his greed, Eneth thought, his lips peeling back into a wide smile. Then the fool wouldn’t have been so blinded by the offer of a single blessing.

The thought only made him want to laugh more. After everything that had happened, everything he himself had been subjected to because of that mortal, humiliation after humiliation, he’d finally won, and to that war god, victory was sweet.

“This is it,” Olensia roared. “No more dancing in a mortal’s palm and no more having his power hanging over us all! We’ll never have to worry about what he’ll do when he ascends, we-”

The words were cut off as their celebration was interrupted. Far sooner than any of them hoped, their deeds were already discovered as one god forced his way into that realm, the cube’s speed smashed into Olensia’s head to knock him away, and there was no point in trying to hide things. What they’d done was always going to be discovered eventually, they’d been hoping they’d at least have a few hours first, but with Myriad there, all they could do was accept what was to come.

“Yes, yes, you caught us,” Eneth said, holding up his hands. “We broke our laws, so let’s gather everyone for a meeting about how to deal with us-”

A bit of sarcasm couldn’t help but slip through his voice as he said it, but Eneth was still entirely unprepared for Myriad’s reaction. Even though the cube’s believer base was growing at a fast pace, all things considered, he was still a small god and he would spend his faith recklessly, giving his believers endless blessings and skills to make himself more appealing. By all accounts, he should have still been weak, yet there was one thing Eneth and many others didn’t know about. All of the soul tiles constantly generating faith for Myriad.

Unlike other deities, Myriad wasn’t specialized; the unique nature of his existence had stripped him of any dedicated divinity, but in exchange, he was flexible, and all of his strength was put towards the rage filling him in that moment.

His body had smashed into Olensia with additional force the other gods around couldn’t realize, but when he moved onto Eneth next to silence the foolishness that god was trying to spout, Myriad’s frame opened, up, revealing the same horrors within that would shut down his believers minds when inspecting their souls and closed around that reptilian war god, trapping him within himself and feeling Eneth try to fight his way out, while Myriad tried to break him down from within.

Myriad was a construct as much as he was a god, after all. A thing designed to contain souls, and while a god was not quite the same, it wasn’t substantially different either. They had form, but of a different sort than anything in the mortal plane, being just as much souls as they were the shapes they projected, with Myriad taking in what he could, piece by piece.

He felt Eneth struggle and scream from within him, and while Myriad had no intention of making that god a part of himself like any of his believers would become, he was more than willing to try to use his innate properties to rip that deity apart, peeling away layers of him while the cube threw himself against the rest as the others began to react, spending their faith to attack and largely winning in the end.

As powerful as Myriad had grown compared to even just a few years prior, he had set himself up against gods who had maintained faith bases for thousands of years, earning and saving what their believers dedicated to them, and when he was already so outnumbered, there was no getting around it. Enough of them there were gods of combat, and with that domain came the power to oppress him as strikes rained down on his body, battering him in a way he couldn’t avoid and filled the cube with pain that was ignored. He didn’t care what happened; that group had murdered his apostle, his friend, and he’d see them pay if it killed him.

But all of the desire in the world was nothing in the face of a difference in power, and as the strikes continued to come, eventually hands clawed at him, holding him in place and tearing him open to free Eneth, the reptilian god jumping out, enraged as he did.

His body was a mess; the others could see entire patches of scales had disappeared from the war god’s divine form, but Eneth said nothing about it. His focus was entirely on Myriad, still held down by the others as he lashed out, throwing blow after blow at the cube while he screamed.

“You think you have the right to be mad when you can’t even control a single believer! All of this, everything we’d had to do and the faith we had to waste doing it, was all because you were willing to let one mortal get too full of himself, and now you think you’re allowed to be the one raging over all of this? You drove things to this point as much as he did, you-”

His fists, leaving dents in Myriad’s body for the strength and rage behind them, were caught, bringing the beating to an end as the group was surrounded, Phixth crushed Eneth’s hands in his own and spoke through clenched teeth as the other deities who’d come with him to control things kept anyone from going further.

“All of you, with me. Now.”

In the meeting, for once, things were deadly silent. Despite the gravity of what had happened, nobody said a word, even when so many clearly wanted to. All the gods sharing that world waited for Phixth, radiating a rage like none had seen from him before, to speak.

“You murdered a mortal who wasn’t your own,” he said finally, the cold tone not matching the depthless anger he was giving off. “And released more than a few damned souls doing it, too.”

“We-” one among them tried to defend themselves, not given the chance.

“You murdered a mortal who’d been single-handedly increasing our chances of winning this impossible war!” Phixth yelled at them, a few of those responsible left to flinch back. “Do you not grasp the gravity of what’s happened here? Both what you’ve done and what Ben had been doing for us? Were all of your pathetic fears and grievances really so great that it had to come to this? Give me one good reason we shouldn’t kill you all where you stand!”

Again, some of those who’d taken part looked fearful, but it wasn’t any of the ones responsible who answered, but instead, other gods among them, who’d been happy enough to act like neutral parties in their previous discussions whenever the topic of Ben had come up.

“Phixth, killing them over one mortal is clearly going too far,” one said, with dozens more murmuring in agreement, only raising the rage in the room as those who loved and appreciated Ben were forced to hear it. “And we still have the war to think about. We should just confine them to their realms until tempers have a chance to cool.”

“Just one mortal? Have a chance to cool?” Nare spat, able to contain himself no longer. “Do you hear yourself? If I were to take action to murder your apostle, would you be so accepting of it? Would any of you? We’ve reached a point where, by all rights, we owe the world to Ben, and you think they should go unpunished? None of you have believers who haven’t benefited from him in one way or another!”

“None of us have believers who aren’t alive thanks to his work either,” Helori added. “And that’s what you want to do with his murderer? Give them a timeout? How dare you!”

“I believe the greater point is that we have other priorities to worry about,” a different god said, trying to be more diplomatic than the last. “Yes, they were wrong to do that, and yes, they should be punished, but we have time before we need to decide what that punishment should be. Considering that we need all the help we can get for the last wave, we can’t be recklessly killing any of our fighting force-”

“Like they just fucking did?” Nare spat. “I would trade all of their lives a hundred times over for Ben’s and still feel like I would be the winner of such a deal! This has to be properly punished; you can’t all just let such a thing slide because these worthless sacks of shit might be able to contribute a bit to the next wave!”

“It wouldn’t just cause issues up here. Can you imagine the chaos it would cause their believers if their gods suddenly died? Such a thing wouldn’t instantly switch them to worshipping others. It would be lost faith that could have been gathered and better spent for the world at large.”

“Do you really think that word about what these gods have done won’t cause enough chaos of its own?” Anailia asked, striking an opposing form for the others. “How do you think any mortal will react when they learn a group of gods conspired to murder someone in cold blood?”

“I think word getting out would weaken faith in all of the gods here as a whole, in a time when it’s most needed,” Eneth finally spoke, raising the tempers of the room, even as others agreed.

“He’s right,” a different god said, not on Eneth’s side but knowing the truth of it. “We have to delay this, whatever decision we make. We can’t let mortal faith in us crash so low when we’re so close to the next wave.”

Around the room, Phixth could see agreement, both from gods with no choice but to accept the cold logic of that fact, as well as gods who themselves had been hoping for such a thing. As Ben had grown in power and continued to reach limits far beyond both mortal and the divine, fear of him had grown too, and foolishly, when they’d all begun to calm down in past meetings, he’d let himself believe that it was because they were beginning to understand Ben’s worth beyond any hypothetical fear. Now, though, he could see how misplaced his trust had been. Even if they hadn’t all been in on it, someone had told them to ease up on their outrage, and he’d been tricked, just like anyone else who was on that boy’s side.

I told him that no matter what happened, cooler heads would prevail, Phixth cursed himself. I told him that no matter what some felt, we were all focused on the greater good of the world, only for it to come to this.

He was disgusted, but he was also powerless. His given role had been to mediate matters regarding Ben, and as things were, it seemed that was to be the last time such a thing was needed, leaving a foul taste in his mouth for how it looked like it would turn out.

There’d always been extremes when it came to that mortal, but it seemed that no matter how many he held the favour of up there, more still were just happy to see him gone. Through it all, Phixth cast his eyes to Myriad, the god who treasured the boy most of all saying nothing, as aware as anyone else as to what was going to happen.

“So that’s what the majority wants?” Phixth asked. “To confine them?”

“It’s the best course of action for the time,” enough agreed, viewing the crime as something minor. “We can figure out the rest once the world is at peace.”

A pretty way of saying never, then, Phixth understood. Even if the demons and their evil god let them be, if they survived the next wave, their planet would need decades, if not centuries, until it would truly be safe again. In that time, excuses would be made, and the gods responsible for that atrocity would work hard enough that others would be able to argue for leniency. After all, what would the life of one mortal be compared against efforts they would spend to protect the world?

“Wrong,” Anailia said, bucking expectations as she moved. “You can all hold them if you like, so be it, but you won’t find my people will remain ignorant on what was done today. Their actions will be spoken of, and they’ll be remembered.”

“You’ll destabilize the world,” some tried to argue. “Everything we’ve built up-”

“So be it. If the mortals stop giving us faith because of these fools, then we’ll work with what we've grown in all of this time. If it means their believers are too ashamed to proclaim themselves worshipers of these foul gods, then it’s all the better.”

“I agree,” Nare said, standing up. “That boy was my friend, and you will not sweep his death away for convenience’s sake. The entire world is going to know that apparently, we’ve had evil gods hidden on this planet all along.”

As the two of them said it, more of them joined, all of the deities who favoured Ben and enough to bring genuine worry to the perpetrating gods’ eyes. Even if they wouldn’t be killed, their churches would be devastated, and for all of those who were neutral or pretending to be neutral watching, they were able to do the math. Just like it would be inconvenient to kill those twenty for their acts, it would be impossible to stop well over a hundred who were going to share word of what happened, regardless of the consequences and the greater good be damned, meaning the facts were clear. The gods responsible would be locked away, named and blamed to the mortals of the world, and they’d all just have to hope that their own mortals wouldn’t lose faith and that the worshipers of the offending gods wouldn’t revolt.

bludvein

What did they honestly think would happen? That everyone else would just shrug and move on?

Alexander Dupree

Well shit I was hoping for a dramatic entrance

Brandon Yarberry

I'm just waiting for Ben to pop back in because of his escape talisman and just evaporate the guilty.

Sammot

Aahhh! I want a ben chapter! Not other people reacting! This is torture, i wanna jnow how ben is doing!

Jed

Oh Ben is going to absolutely eviscerate them

Shunji

fucking hell, please. i need the next chappy.

Justin Aether

Bonus chap, bonus chap, BONUS CHAP, BONUS CHAP

Justin Aether

Surprised the Ben that's always in his divine realm didn't pop in to say hello. Maybe he's biding his time a bit

Zy

Cant wait for ben to return

Matías Rojas

It's good the Pro Ben Gods haven't killed the Anti Ben Gods, cuz now Ben can kill all of the Anti Ben Gods himself

Faramond01

So what I learned from this chapter is that Ben is about to have lots of new sacrilege practice material

Einheit

HERES JOHNYYY!!!! sorry… HERES BENN!!!!

Matías Rojas

I assume his connection got cut off

Logan

TFTC. After the shit with the tower and the demon world escape you’d think the gods would know Ben’s got that dawg in him by now but I guess third times the charm.

Stonecold

We got like tolwo more reaction chapters before we see Ben.

Schmidt

Good stand your ground! I was borderline expecting Ben to just instantly bounce back and show up here from his summing circle in the basement of Myriads church. But I guess he has to suffer a little bit, gain more power through adversity, return and then hit tier 4 in sacrilege by killing these 20 gods

Hellophi

I am just waiting for Ben to pop up and obliterate them, also did Myriad forget about the contingency, not to mention everything that Ben is able to do otherwise.

Nathan

So once Anaila tells Thera I suspect some churches are going to experience some "minor" structural issues...

DittoMikko

Ben seems to have rubbed off on Myriad with his willingness to torture gods

Schmidt

Did Ben ever fully explained what the contingency was to Myriad?

Ekko

I think Turnip is doing this as a prelude to a massacre. Ben will return, he left enough contingencies behind to make sure of that. When he does, the Pantheon will be drastically reduced and Ben will truly show them why they feared him.

Kallisti _

I'm pretty sure the talisman was for if the gods threw his soul in, not his actual body.

Ben Cox

And they thought the demons were dangerous, boy oh boy are they about to find something far more terrible after ben escapes from the infinite hells

Laurent Jerry

Well something cool is happening, i hope we can have several juicy chapter out of it

Hellophi

THE COUNCIL WISHES FOR MORE, WE HUNGER, WE NEED TO FEAST UPON THE GRACIOUS STORY

Justin Aether

I'm gonna blow my shit smoove off if that comes true

copperspike

thank you for the chapter, love myriad going into a blind rage for his friend, eagerly awaiting seeing how ben handles hell

Lucas

Hell yes Myriad!!

Jean Clinet

That is so heartwarming, Ben will feel their love when he come back.

Infinity

Surprised no one mentioned that if Ben does survive their best option would have been to kill those gods.

Hellophi

But imagine the coming chaos and destruction of the reactions

Drayko543

iirc he did cause Myriad was wprrying about the portal to the infinite hells in the basement of his church

Skrublorde

Nah, he made the talisman after seeing a physical portal to hell. The talisman is designed to lead his body to the portal he constructed under the church of myriad in Stonewall.

Matías Rojas

Eh, he can just abandon his body and get a new one later

Hellophi

When, they know in their heart of hearts he will return, like a storm of death

Tiarnaria

i SOOO want to put this on hold to binge this all but also I WANT TO SEE BENS REVENGE AS SOON AS I CAN

Kallisti _

Can we pool together funds to donate and in return get another chapter?

Hellophi

Yes please, let's do this, anything for another chapter, I need more

Skrublorde

Next chapter: Thera drops a meteor on Eneth's Capital.

Redc05

To be fair, a lot of them did.

Redc05

It's going to be Terra and friends next to. So it will be a while

Emily Gurnavage

It fits the pattern when this stuff happens, lol. Theres always 2 or 3 before cuttin back to Ben. And ESPECIALLY after this meeting. Seems suuuuper likely we will get at least 1 chapter focusing on the mortal fallout of the gods announcing what happened. Hopefuly that and Thera's reaction are combined in 1 chapter though instead of her getting her own like usual. I frickin knew I should have waited to read this, and im definitely holding back for the next 2 or 3 at least lol.

Matteo A

Chapters for the Chap god!

Emily Gurnavage

Goddamn that was hyped up. Good stuff Turnip. Really got my blood pumpin. Between this and the coffee ive actually got a painful headache now from the sudden blood pressure spike, lol. Ow. So good though.

Skrublorde

That's exactly it; Eneth convinced them of that to get them to agree

Emily Gurnavage

That IS what almost happened, though. And if anyone weaker than Analia tried to lead the charge against it like she did, the others would have muscled them down and forced them to keep their mouth shut.

posiedon11

I wonder if the soul tiles are about to be revealed. The whole reason he doesn’t make them for other gods is he doesn’t trust them, and now they probably never will

Emily Gurnavage

Yea he did. Myriad knew the same day Ben set it up and helped distract the other Gods so he could do it unnoticed. But its: - an untested piece of magic only *theorized* to work - is impossible as far as the Gods are concerned - relies on him activating it and being conscious/aware enough to do so despite being in the infinite Hells - relies on it not breaking when being sent to Hell or by the spirits there - we dunno if theres a time dilation difference or what - was made before he was a T3, does it perhaps need tweaking to work on him bein so much more powerful now?

Blackking👑

That doesn't make a lot of sense, considering his soul isn't connected to the failsafe . Also, the whole premise was that he was uncomfortable with the fact that someone with a level five space magic could theoretically open a gate to hell and send him there physically

SacredSteel

This action might actually keep the world from feeling Ben's wrath. The only one that was actually changing the trajectory of the world. The 100 gods publicly shaming the others. Ben would get his revenge. No realm is safe and especially so when he hears they attacked Myriad.

Blackking👑

I mean, it's less that it almost happened more that they completely disregarded the fact that the people that like Ben could do whatever the hell they wanted as well

Blackking👑

I mean, that's probably why he's quiet even if I don't think he has much hope considering the contingency might not work as it currently is

blucube 14

Thanks for the chapter! Oh Myriad rage was so sweet and sad. I cant wait for ben to pop back and ether capture his would be murders or just straight up cull the gods. The only question is how long it will take him to get back. On one end he has the talisman but he also might want to take his time out of curiosity of the new realm he's in. Or somthing else happens. Oh and im so looking forward to how the mortals react to this.

Drayko543

The most efficient thing Ben could do is keep them alive to use as faith generators, constantly forcing them to give him blessings and skill levels

John Vistica

As the thousands of Bens that are in his realm are extensions of his soul, I have to assume that they all ceased to exist as soon as Ben's body and soul were sent to the underworld.

DittoMikko

Listen it's not Theras fault if all of the churches seemed to have been build on unstable fast acting sink holes that act with extreme prejudice, that's just how the world is sometimes

Nathan

And even if something does happen obviously they should wait until after the war is over to investigate in a few hundred years...

Michigo

First of all: Miriad is mad, like INSANLY mad right now. Second: he knows Ben better than anyone else, and even he himself knows he doesn't know everything about his apostles failsaves and crazy ideas (because he doesn't want to know even more). The best part: i bet Ben is already talking to him, prepping his grand entrance into this impromptu divine meeting. Hence his sudden silence. Two ways this can go: Ben shows up as usual, just in a extra sacrilegious mood. Or he was forced to ascend. In that case they will be forced to deal with a literal good of evil, destruction, eldritch mind, soulcraft and last but not least sacrilege. A god that is out for some divine vengeance. One way or another, strap in and get your popcorn buckets ready. 😁

Uroš

Time for Thera to awaken sacrilige to the 3rd tier :) It would be kinda funny if Ben just walked out of his god's church's basement (I'm pretty sure he made himself a "gateway out of hell" somewhere like 500 chapters ago or something), go to Thera and be like "Honey, I'm home. You'll never guess what happened today"

Napalm078

'erupting into mad, victorious laughter as they rejoined the rest of their cohort who’d waited behind.' Hmmm 'Don’t banish his soul, trap his entire body in that lower realm to suffer and die,' Ah 'who had enough believers of the other co-conspirators' races' AH 'If only he’d learned to manage his greed, Eneth thought, his lips peeling back into a wide smile.' Justin Aether

This of course begs the question, could Ben do more good with more bens?

Mars One

Where are the "paladin's" during all this. The neutral group that supports and manages all the gods interactions?

Booboo955

Love this so much! Thanks for the chapter!

Starter_guy

Hell yeah Myriad! Now the Good God's need to ban followers of the other from their areas. Cut transit through their gates, stop services. If you are a follower of those gods you get no help. Just protect your own followers. I really want Thera to tell the spirits to withdraw from those territories. I would 100% want to watch the world burn in retaliation 🔥

ReadingObsessed

Myriad should commission a song from our favorite bardic crab.

Hellophi

No spirits were involved, the magic in the world just... Went haywire due to the disappearance of the most powerful mortal... No the space spirit didn't teleport any churches into the sun, they were always there... Not even a great spirit could make faithstone, definitely, trust, that doesn't exist anymore, you must be imagining it.

Kendaar

Just the reaction from Thera alone should be enough to scare the gods. After how she reacted to ben getting trapped in the dead gods trial, I could see her destroying religions not just the churches.

Krae Z Hand

Okay, here's my thoughts: before we see Ben again, we have to get at least a couple of aftermath and reaction chapters from different POVs; Thera, the other summoned, the great spirits, the dryads, the kids, dewdrop, etc. maybe some of them in the same chapter, maybe some get a chapter to themselves. Them we get a chapter or two about Ben in hell, how he adapts, innocent souls he meets, and the first hints of a plan to escape. He'll have to decide why is planned contingency won't work, etc. Finally, after four or five more chapters, we'll get Ben exploding out of hell with a cohort of innocent souls who want revenge on the gods, to help in the war, or who just didn't deserve hell, and Ben murders those twenty puny gods. In universe, i bet one week passes (or less). Just enough time to get people thinking it'll stick

Bluesun Rise

I'm not sure I could manage the wait, but part of me really wants to see a whole bunch of chapters here, slowly showing off the fallout. Ben has done so much for so many people, it always was a horrible idea to act against him at this point, and I kinda wanna see them squirm from the sheer political fallout this will cause, not just because a tier three died, or an apostle, but because it's Ben. And not just those that plotted to kill him, but the 'neutral' gods as well.

Matías Rojas

I don't remember Paladins being mentioned in this story

ZaA

Well you did a good job of explaining away all of the issues. Still the fact anything can happen at all faster than Ben's speed of thought is laughable. That being said, would Ben not have returned by now? I feel like itd have been basically instant, so im fully expecting him to just speak up next chapter having been there the whole time listening and reading their minds for who deserves punishment and then who doesn't quite deserve punishment but are still going on his shit list for their thoughts. He's also going to gain a bunch of new souls to torture. They won't be dead  but they'll wish they were

JJATH

Another! Please! We need to know.

I loved how upset Myriad was, as much as he rags on Ben he cares for him deeply (#1 first follower 🏆).

juno

I wasnt expecting Cannonball-vore Myriad but I love the reaction! I predict a Thera reaction chapter before we see Ben.

Piotr

It is cool that Myriad grew some cubes, but he could deliver at the end some line like: "Ben will deal with you when he's back, anyway"

Assault1217

Thera is definitely going to awaken her earth magic as she causes a catastrophic earthquake in anger. Probably reach tier 2 or maybe even 3 in sacrilege. The lesser spirits will interpret her rage as an act of war and attack the believers of those gods. A civil war could happen or be about to until Ben shows up, tell everyone to calm their shit. Then go into the divine realm and harvest the 10 gods. Ben also might proceed to give up on the world and proceed to build the void arc thing again and take the people of the gods who defended him or entirely neutral

Josh

Poor Myriad. He always tried to keep Ben and the gods on good terms, stressed about everything and even clashed with Ben cause he thought that would keep Ben safe and that logic would prevail with the bastard-gods. Now he was even used to 'kill' his friend just after it finally seemed like his work is paying off. He must be tearing himself apart in guilt, I hope we get a talk between him and Thera the next chapter to explore that. Also good on him that he fucked Eneth up at least a little.

funktorial

dang I didn't know Myriad had hands like that

Kevin1245

She's gonna unlock her 3rd tier earth magic for sure. She might even awaken one of her spirit skills by ordering the spirits to raze everything to the ground. It's so insanely shortsighted. It's like they completely forgot the spirit's already threaten to leave after the shit gods failed to do their jobs and allowed them to be killed. Now they go after the spirit's biggest ally, whose basically wife is a "spirit princess", his son is a soul spirit king, saved the space spirit king and happened to make 15nor 20 spirit kings and an uncountable number of regular spirit's? The spirit's are going to revolt. They're so damn stupid I just can't figure out how these gods are functional at all.

Eternal Scrub

What no one seems to appreciate is that Ben hasn’t made Sacrilege Inclination yet, thus it is a waste to get revenge until he completes it in a few days. On the other hand, if he did immediately get out of the infinite hells, I doubt he’d let anyone grieve his “death”: especially Mora and Delair. They’re his children!

Kevin1245

I mean this is the outcome I didn't want to happen, with the gods waving it off. But I also have a strong feeling Ben's side didn't fight was they know hell be back soon. They're just saving his xp bags. At least I hope it's that and not bad writing because Analia already threatened Holy war if they did anything.

Blake N.

Yeah, they’re all full of their own importance and still see Ben as an uppity ant that every reasonable god will ignore the death of

Randall Klatt

Isn't a portion of Ben still in his own realm? I was sort of expecting him to pop into the meeting while the rest of him was experiencing the hell dimension.

Tomáš Blábol

Alright, if he doesn't immediately return, I remember that he made way out of hell in church of Miriam basement with necklace to activate it, then that is just bad writing at this point, he predicted and prepared for it so, I maybe not drop this, because I still like Ben, but I would be extremely disappointed in author.

Tomáš Blábol

Doubt he will take his time, if only to not worry thera and kids.

Zak Webb

I bet Myriad absorbed Eneth to read his mind, just to make sure he has all the information for Ben when he returns (in addition to venting his anger).

Archer

Thera and the spirits are going to wreck every thing they own.

Starter_guy

With how many gods there are why is there no rule in place for attacking another God's Priests / Apostle? Surely it should be an eye for an eye thing. Not a whoops - demons are coming you can try and punish us after

Thomas Issa

I’m shocked by the 20’s stupidity and eager for the riots Just the spirits would be one thing that would kill the 20’s apostles, oracles, etc but the followers of over 100 gods rioting will make things even more glorious

Thomas Issa

It’s not going to get waved off though, the riots will be glorious

Redbeard

That was my thought exactly! Like the spirits threatened to leave and only stayed because of Thera negotiating on their behalf so now if she also says “fuck the world” they might not just leave they may destroy some shit on their way out and they are relying on the great spirits to cover multiple incursion sites single handedly. If they leave then the world is absolutely fucked. I’m surprised Analia didn’t point this out since Thera is one of her believers. I also see a future where she awakens her sacrilege to the second tier while destroying these evil gods churches.

Silverraider05

There is a rule. Chapter 228, after the first duel with Aether, or 501 after the riot. It's been established, but seemingly only punishable after Ben starts getting involved.

Bester Ward

As I recall, that organizations polices interactions between the faiths (churches and followers) in the city that was the center of faith (can't remember name). It doesn't police the actual gods, and there is zero chance of the gods agreeing to be policed by mortals.

Titan Kios

Think he's recruiting all the mortals the gods damned?

Kimberly

Sooo good!!!! I can't wait to see what they think when Ben manages to come back because...if I remember correctly...he kinda planned for this.

Sauce Master

Ben is about to start farming and solo leveling.

Sauce Master

ABRUS is going to WRECK shit

patrick bennett

I just imagine ben is vacuuming up all the souls in hell with his cube

Andrew Nichols

Well, Ben just got volunteers to help him power level, new gods to practice on *grins predatorily*

Matías Rojas

Tbf myriad has never done anything of the sort, or anything at all, for that matter

Redbeard

My theory is that Ben will come back and hide his presence as he goes around to the confined gods realms and kills them one by one or does something even worse to them before the other gods can find out. He will also now have the minds of multiple damned beings imprinted on him so hopefully will have some new creative torture methods ready to unleash. I also wouldn't be shocked if he is already back in the mortal realm and just keeping it a secret since he created the failsafe in the basement of the church specifically to be shrouded from the sight of gods. That or he has a nice fun adventure through hell where even those that are damned come to fear Ben.

Corvusamous

He still has condemnation right? Like devise or not he can go back home

Kallisti _

I mean, I don't know how to contact Turnip directly; kinda hoping he'll see our willingness and we can bargain from there?

Alik9999

He will have to fight ather again in the infinite hell, probably a boosted version.

Mare Matthews

Hey, some of his friends can try and get some Sacrilege. As a treat. There’s 20 to go around. (Yes, I doubt gods -can- get Sacrilege. We can experiment!)

Mare Matthews

The very fact the idiot gods are trying to frame it as “killing just one mortal” and others are BUYING it shows how much the divine realm has been IGNORING the Spirits. Remember them being surprised Thera was a Contender for Earth Magic? Same blind spot. Since the Spirits don’t have a god, the other gods think they’re irrelevant. Despite the HUGE example just two years ago how stupid that is.

Mare Matthews

Only Anailia had any reason to care about the Spirits before Ben, and that was just because of Abrus. Only Ben’s circle of friends actually understand how far reaching Ben’s influence on the Spirits beyond Life and Death IS, let alone the fact Thera is functionally their goddess and WILL be followed as such. These guys have been missing the forest for the trees even worse than Ben, and I’d say I can’t blame them except of course THEY WERE TOLD HOW BIG A DEAL THE SPIRITS WERE. 😵‍💫

Mare Matthews

Hey, Myriad had an amazing entrance, and if he hadn’t been outnumbered it would have been even better!!! Ben’s not the only god who’s capable of unmaking a deity to the divine-atomic level, good to know!

Mare Matthews

Yeah, they honestly didn’t realize anyone would be willing to take the faith hit for telling the mortals. Except Ben’s been advertising the Empty Skies out of Myriad for the Soul Augmentations. The second Sachel and Valeria start spreading the news as Oracle and High Priestess of Myriad…. Every passive race that benefited from the bracers will believe them in an instant, and others will soon follow. Anailia and the others are just expediting things. (and we’re glad for it!)

Leafburn 550

Ahh all is right with the world Ben is suffering and has new victims. The only thing we need now is THE NEXT CHAPTER IMMEDIATELY!

Mare Matthews

Also, the gods have mortal limitations, even Myriad. With all the insanity the Mad Apostle has pulled since setting up the failsafe, the poor cube could have honestly forgotten and I’d never blame him for it.

Luboš Hemala

What I wonder now is if the system is still connected. Can Thera feel Ben? Does Myriad still have an apostle?

Luboš Hemala

Omg he can steal blessings from any condemned gods.

Mare Matthews

I know. I feel sorry for those who really want the rest, and I have some of that as well. But I definitely adore all these perspectives, and seeing everything that comes out of major events like this. Thank you Turnip for this very good chapter, and especially the image of the killer ping pong cube of dissolving, it brightens my day! 😊

Mare Matthews

Sadly, this Patron IS how we donate for extra fast chapters… Turnip’s not Ben, sadly, and can’t just Materialize text out of the ether and condense a year of planning into one real world second. It’s a pain for every writer… 😭

Mootant

With how pissed Myriad is, when Ben comes back he'll join him in killing the 20

Luboš Hemala

Come on. Even connecting to Dewdrop broke his mind for a while. Imagine whole mind breaking realm. His mind has to adjust. His body has to adjust.

Carl Mason

Come on, Myriad, pipe up. The time has come to apprise them of your greatest fear: Ben, angry, with no reason to hold back. He is coming.

Carl Mason

Credit where credit is due: "Here's Myriad!"

BIGLARGEFISH

Honestly love seeing myriad just eat a bitch. Wish he got to digest him to too. Feels good to see Phixth getting mad about this as well. I look forward to ben devouring these gods whole.

Carl Mason

Yeah. I kept expecting Myriad to speak up. "We need to do this now, make it clean. If Ben has to do it when he gets back it is going to be SO messy. We can't afford to wait." Or something. You just know Ben isn't hoist g to take it lightly that the others just let it lie after they found out and only his friends stood up for justice.

BIGLARGEFISH

Genuinely curious how the spirits are gonna react cause uh hes like kinda the dadish of a large number of great spirits at this point plus married to the spirit queen god princess. Also thera let see if she can kill a god.

Zak Webb

Why give them any heads up? I think Myriad's fear has always been the other gods getting worked up and doing something irrecoverable to his apostle, not a fear of Ben. His worst fear has already come to pass, and why take any risk at all of them finding his backdoor into the infinite hells?

Carl Mason

Allfaith, which, if I remember correctly, was destroyed in the spirit riot. I think it was Allfaith that had the Towers and the communal temple.

Carl Mason

Ather died. Maybe he has to fight his disembodied soul, because souls have nowhere to go, but it would be weird if he were boosted.

Carl Mason

There is no reason to warn them, other than keeping the proceedings under firm control and not allowing any overreactions to the situation. I just kept expecting it. And while yes, Myriad's fear was largely built around the other gods, he also had a greater fear of Ben just ceasing to be civil. That is what Ben has been this whole time, civil, not friendly to anyone opposed to him, kind and generous to those he favors, and civil to anyone else.

Luboš Hemala

If Ben ever returns, he can erase the foul gods from living memory.

Kimberly

I'm going to be honest, a little part of me wants be to be gone for like a week, maybe he finally gets his Connect up, because he has to Connect to people to help him get his body out of Hell, who knows. But I am guessing they just make him even more powerful and he combines like multiversal stuff with Connect to create some multiverse connector power. That would seem perfectly on brand for him. And while he is gone, the mortals find out what these other gods did and their churches just mysteriously dissappear, their own people start getting hunted a bit, and maybe the gods tell the communal churches to fully remove any statues of them so they stop getting faith. All the while Ben's super happy with his new super power and that mitigates some of his frustration with the gods that just attacked him....at least for now. I am just waiting for Ben to get some sort of God of the Multiverse or something skill.

Kallisti _

Very true, and yet when I was re-reading the story on RR, I remember seeing an author note where Turnip specifically mentioned someone donating extra money and therefore getting extra chapters.

Sauce Master

myriad almost devoured a god, what if ben learns how to do that instead?

Mechanist Grimm

How bad could it be? It's not like he was close personal friends with a surprisingly large number of powerful people and literal heroes including some of the best enchanters, quite possibly every soul mage, or was all but married to the de facto leadership/long suffering queen (xD) of the Spirits who represent a *massive* part of their potential to fight and win. I really can't wait to see how this evolves and funnily enough I kinda wanna see what is happening on the surface with people and with the gods more than what is happening with Ben first.

Ollieols

Go Myriad!!!!!

Rad

We’ve got a few more gods for ben to torture when he finds a way back.

Luboš Hemala

I hope that they will also spread the word about Ben's achievement, outing him to the world.

juneboi2

Delicious. Quite an acceptable length.

Bettafish

Well.... they will be in the slim chance Thera leaves anything to riot at

Zak Webb

Actually, I just realized that Myriad's fight against Eneth might be foreshadowing. Eneth wasn't able to escape until the other gods pried Myriad open. What happens if Oaun gets trapped inside Myriad?

IdolTrust

It’s good that they are confining those gods for when Ben comes back to have them for a snack. God damn Myriad is a monster, literally, he is exactly what Ben is becoming.

Mare Matthews

I haven’t re-read in a while, so I’m possibly wrong, but I also think Turnip later said they’d stop taking those donations? Because the writing was happening as fast as it could without killing Turnip as is….. But that relies on trusting MY memory, which one should NEVER do.

Kallisti _

I don't remember reading that, but I also usually skim author notes..especially when I'm excited to get to the next chapter.

Mare Matthews

It’s technically an opportunity for Ben to show some goodwill. “Ok, I’m just going to execute them now. The rest will come after the war is dealt with, to follow your consensus. Please accept this as me being EXTREMELY generous.”

Mare Matthews

“The other two times Thera had to cry because I was yeeted out of the world [impossible tower counts] wasn’t any of you gods’ fault. “This one IS. You shall PAY for making Thera cry.” 👿

Mare Matthews

Ben already outnumbers several species’ populations. I doubt there’s many more returns to be gained through raw numbers.

Matías Rojas

The system is basically permanent once it gets to someone, and kind of makes a system user into a wifi repeater so that it can spread. That's why the demons have access to the system too. As for Thera, we've seen her connection with Ben can be weakened/turned off with enough distance, like when Ben was at a demon planet, so she probably knows something's up.

Mare Matthews

😂😂 “What do you mean, Sachel and Valeria started a holy war against the gods while I was gone? Who else has joined? Wow, that sounds cool!” (because the only thing stopping Ben’s mortal allies from raising absolute hell on the world themselves is lack of knowledge of the event)

Mare Matthews

The catch 22. Binging is awesome, but there’s only so long the addiction can stand withholding the hit! 😂

Matías Rojas

Even if Ather is somehow sane enough to recognize Ben, I don't think he'd stand a chance against current Ben.

Mare Matthews

“Ben, you’ve literally invented three different ways to turn gods into torture-powered factories.” “Do you blame me, Myriad?” “….. No. Just making observations. Carry on.”

Mare Matthews

I say the followers of the soon-to-be executed gods be forced to join the Communal Church, and the priests etc. be mandated to pray 10 hours a day every day to Myriad. Because we don’t want them as legit followers, but they ARE going to make reparations to Myriad.

Mare Matthews

They tried to kill his brother*. I do not blame Myriad in the smallest possible bit. * Reference to me calling Ben and Myriad’s relationship like siblings, drive each other nuts but also completely support

Mare Matthews

I am honestly SHOCKED at how intelligent the plan was to condemn Ben, they really did put a lot of thought into the details. I want to find out who came up with it, and let Ben chew on their mind (literally) to get some ideas of his own.

Mare Matthews

It really really shows how little the gods have been paying attention to the world beyond their own followers. I’m almost sorry the last time she ripped and teared was against Nare’s followers, it kept the other gods from realizing how TERRIFYING Thera is when upset.

Mare Matthews

I’m hoping it’s because Myriad already knows Ben’s ALREADY back. 😂

Mare Matthews

All the more reason to keep them in the back pocket.

Mare Matthews

I personally want Ben back as fast as possible, if only because I genuinely want the patchwork world in one piece by the end of this. And yes, if the Spirits find out Ben’s in the infinite hells the world definitely WON’T be in as good shape as it was when he left..

Mare Matthews

Both are the point. Hitting the gods where the money is (faith and followers) really is the worst thing they can do without killing the gods, and in all honesty in the middle of a literal world ending war is NOT the time to start a second one. And Thera shall. not. care. If she finds out Ben’s gone before he gets back.

Mare Matthews

So, he hasn’t been at the meeting the whole time. Just the last third. 😊

Mare Matthews

“Eneth’s a piece of shit - of Shit! - Eneth’s a piece of shit! Eneth’s a piece of shit, of Shit, and we should all spit on his grave!” 🎶🎶

Mare Matthews

“Cannonball Vore” I believe that is both a unique, never before spoken description, and 100% accurate! 😂

Spicyice101

I guess it’s lucky it’s the weekend, since I can play games and stuff to pass the time and come back on Monday after all the interludes are done and we see Ben do his thing.

Mare Matthews

“Why is everyone blaming US for this?” “Because it’s your fault?” “But everyone else agrees with us, and were just too cowardly to do anything about it!” I genuinely think they’re all shocked that the number of gods actually on Ben’s side (because of the entire “single handedly winning the war thing) broke double digits, let alone the actual numbers.

Alik9999

I just re read the chapter and didn't his whole body fall into the infinite hell ? He is a demigod maybe there is a weird interaction with it.

Mare Matthews

I agree, the number of people and lives Ben has -personally- made better is staggering. Between the Spirits, the passive-neutralizing bracers, the homes he’s built… Add in anyone who remembers Myriad “sponsored” the Soul Empowering, and it’s his Apostle that was condemned, and, well…. A lot of mortals will be on team “Kill the idiot gods” once they hear the news.

Alik9999

For me it makes sense if we have to have another ark with eneth and a passage through hell to fight aether one last time and finish the job, it doesn't make sense to spend time in the earlier chapter 580 ≈ 590 to precise that he did not kill aether.

Mare Matthews

I just realized the time people wanted to kick Ben out of Stonewall after Bloom was a prelude to this. “And we shall be free from suffering his presence!” “Dude, maybe you were suffering. The rest of us? At worst, recognized the inconvenience was worth the benefit. And then there’s the third of the population that literally own Ben their lives and WILL gladly uphold that. “And don’t forget Thera, because that SHALL ruin your day if you do.”

Carl Mason

Myriad was barely able to do anything against a god at the same level as him (roughly), how would he do better against a significantly more powerful one? I back Matias' opinion, Myriad explodes, probably.

Carl Mason

He did not kill Ather, he threw him bodily throught the portal. Then (I think) the next chapter he gets a notification about having killed him. Sure, no body, no kill; that logic only goes so far.

Carl Mason

I did sort of expect that, myself, as well, but at the end of last chapter when Ben hits the hells it breaks him. "Shattered everything he was" i believe was the phrasing. He may be a minute, even before the possibility of unforeseen difficulties.

Mare Matthews

Now, the question is - Ouan trapped inside Myriad being power-boosted by Ben while they’re Connected? How far would that go?

Mare Matthews

Yep, I’m pro “Let the mortals show their opinion on getting rid of Ben.” Because there are a LOT of people who either hold Ben in high esteem, know they owe Ben and are decent enough to be willing to pay that back, or just frankly love the Madman for who he is. And Anailia herself doesn’t need to lead the charge for the Succubi and Incubi; most by this point have either benefited directly or have loved ones whose lives have been bettered by his bracers, let alone the power growth to the nation. They find out the man responsible for that was targeted? A very mad, and very numerous in context population to start protesting against the gods.

Mare Matthews

Honestly, she almost was able to kill her uncle by blocking him from mana. Before she was T3 and a Soul Mage. I’m pretty sure she’s be able to tear a minor god limb from limb at this point.

Napalm078

That's a great idea

Napalm078

Yep, land Allfaith was destroyed by the spirits after the spirit power source cannon incident. Water Allfaith still stands.

Hellophi

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🪘🥁🪇🎤👂👂👂🗣️🗣️🗣️ Fire lyrics

Hellophi

The previous chapter did say "fracturing everything he was in the process." So it might take him a couple minutes, maybe even days, and he set a entrance/exit, we can't be sure where it'll appear, will it appear relative to the mortal plane, or to the talisman, not to mention anything in the hells with him, like falsely damned souls, new unique creatures, or evil gods to harvest, it might even take him a week in a bad scenario.

Hellophi

Don't forget about the vampires

Gale Emm

I wanna believe that Myriad's silence in the meeting is them realising that Ben being Ben means there's no way he's dead and wondering if they should even try and contain his wrath.

Cameron

I just know we're getting a Thera Perspective tomorrow and it's going to kill me having to wait until Monday for more progress.

Enxes

Oaun described the system as the dead one bound to Ben's soul. So I think it's permanent. Thera should still be able to feel Ben since souls are constants throughout the multiverse. And they are connected by their souls

Tomáš Blábol

Myriad was barely able to do anything against a god at the same level as him, really? Myriad was dominating him, the only reason he lost is beacuse it was like 15+ against him. though I agree that if Oaun gets trapped inside Myriad, Myriad explodes.

Tomáš Blábol

ben prepared for hell, has portal in church of Myriad to get back.

Tomáš Blábol

doubt it about adventure in hell, he wouldn't want to worry thera and kids.

Tomáš Blábol

wonder what that would actually do? perhaps we finally get mythic item?

Call0013

I wonder if Ben could rip out Gods Divinities(Skills) and give them to Myriad. Like Growth,Gain,Self,Magic,Light,Life,Passion, etc like I doubt Myriad would want all of them like i doubt he would need Bug,Opulence,Bow,etc. I also wonder if Ben could Merge Light&Life into Blessing before giving it to Myriad. But yeah I am hoping he Strips the evil gods for parts and distributes the parts among the gods he likes.

Alik9999

He did get the demigod slayer title but it's a title, if enough people believe in something it's enough to get it.

Kallisti _

At first I was wondering why Myriad wasn't talking: Through it all, Phixth cast his eyes to Myriad, the god who treasured the boy most of all saying nothing, as aware as anyone else as to what was going to happen. But I'm pretty sure it's because he knows about Ben's failsafe (ch591). On the one hand, Myriad is terrified that Ben is lost forever. On the other, he knows that his apostle planned for this and when Ben gets back, he will no doubt take his own measure of revenge regardless of what the other gods want.

Carl Mason

When Eneth was released, he walked out with a few patches of missing scales, no mention of blood or flesh. And then he immediately began wailing on Myriad. No great injuries, nothing to stop him attacking, even for a few seconds, beyond the time it took him to get in position for his attacks. Had he remained inside, yeah, he probably would have been eaten away to nothing, by the damage accrued in the few minutes it sounds like he may have been inside, that would be a long while. Like destroying a stone with a polishing turner. And Eneth is more powerful than Myriad, but still at least on the same level as a god.

Carl Mason

Assuming it works as intended with no testing or even proper understanding of the conditions in which it will need to work. It will he part of the whole thing when he escapes and makes his way back, but it might take some reworking to use.
