It's been brought up before but original Dragonball is all about showing these mystical and fantastical themes and stories and making them out to be something far more mundane in reality! Nothing can compare to how fantastical and magical our real world already is!! And showing Goku have so much fun in his everyday living in this world is the perfect way to convey that message!! The idea of the Eternal Dragon being nothing more than a tiny model that can be pieced back together so simply is one of the perfect examples of that in the original series, I think!

When I was a kid, thanks to a local TV in Spain, I watched first Dr. Slump, then DB (I couldn't believe it when Arale showed up in DB!!) and finally DBZ. The anime was so popular that when Goku finally defeated Frieza, it even made the news! Thank you Akira Toriyama for so many memories with my brother and friends. We almost had a heart attack when a friend got for his birthday Dragon Ball Z Super Botuden for SNES (we practically moved to his place all summer lol). Rest in peace ❤️

Toriyama always liked to add stuff as the series went on. Piccolo eating to only surviving on water. I'm also 100% sure Zenkai boost concept didn't exist yet before Z.

You're forgetting Shenron revived everyone who was killed by Frieza and his men with a single wish.

Piccolo didn't kill Roshi, Roshi killed himself by attempting to trap Piccolo with the mafuba, therefore him being revived when they wished everyone killed by piccolo back to life is a plot hole. The same can be said for everyone who was killed by Piccolo's kids, which would include Krillin as one of the victims.

YYH and aot are both good but id say watch AOT first cuz it has some of the best story writing in all of anime

It's fantastic that Goku's friends are back to life, as well as everyone else killed by Piccolo and his men. At least now they won't be tortured in hell anymore. I do wonder something though. If God and Piccolo Daimao are the same being, then why is God still old if Piccolo wished for youth to return to him? They're the same person, so their age should be shared. God should look just like Piccolo now after the wish.

The Hype

This is the last official cannon episode of the Piccolo Daimao arc. Episodes 127-132 are filler, so let me just say that out of every other arc in the series that this is my least favorite. I don't hate it, since there's good stuff here that is improved in Z, and the mysticism behind God and Piccolo Daimao. That being said I preferred earlier goofy Dragon Ball, which was tons of fun. I think that the Saiyan, and Freeza arcs do a better job of having a menacing villain, since the Saiyans, and Freeza are better written, and have a lot more personality, especially Freeza. Piccolo Daimao is just too much of a cardboard cutout of a generic villain in my eyes.
