Good morning dear Patrons!

I'm back and feeling refreshed after taking a short break last week. In which I played lots of Space Engineers with the ZF guys and generally didn't think about work at all. After such a grueling editing effort on Arma, I really needed that.

Now, time to get back on the horse.

While my first choice now would be to do the final chapter of the DayZ video essay, in which I break down the nature of Agile development, it is worth noting that I actually failed my objective with ARMA. My plan was to finish a standard 10 minute long video after the 27 minute Mount & Blade Bullshittery in order to show that two months is not the new standard.

Therefore I think it might be a smarter idea to do a couple of videos that are shorter. And I was thinking of Holdfast Nations at War. Possibly followed by a very time-boxed episode of PUBG Bullshittery. Maybe. I would first like to know your thoughts on the topic?

Either way, what I'm currently doing though is what's called "Nesting" for some of the footage I have on my hard drives. This is a necessary first step in which I go through the available footage and save what might be useful, discarding the rest. And how speedy this process is depends entirely on the game type and how well I've kept my notes. And I've started yesterday with Holdfast because I have a particular flavor of video in mind...

I was thinking of doing a short video called "Holdfast shows the grim reality of 18th century warfare". And then cut in only the bizzare silliness that was our recent Holdfast sessions. Where the French are charging screaming "VIVA LA CROISSANT", we're marching forward whilst someone is playing "You've got a friend in me". And a British infantry-man with a thick Boston accent is yelling "I'M WALKING 'ERE!!". It was all incredibly silly.

I can save the back-and-forth ZF banter for a true Holdfast bullshittery. But for the moment I was thinking of doing just this surreal video gag, which would probably only be 2 minutes long ish.

TL;DR - This week I'm going through footage to see what's there, starting with Holdfast Nations at War. A similar process needs to be done with Divinity, Rising Storm, etc. But Holdfast seems a sensible place to start due to the aforementioned gag idea.

Any thoughts?

Sounds good so far :) Something different, refreshing after those 2 long videos. I was actually kinda expecting something the likes of PUBG, because it is easy to timeframe. Holdfast probably is in the same category there. And the streams so far have all been a treat :) So, go ahead :) (also, good to hear that you are feeling better again :D)

Honestly a short 2 minute long video could be a great laugh for everyone which people would be able to enjoy while getting ready for work or something. Something like this would work well in my opinion because the longer videos require plenty of attention to understand the gags. I think if you finished the dayZ bullshittery first it would suit better because the last new bullshittery was uploaded a long time ago. Pubg bullshittery 2 is still relevant and is still amazing so personally id go for the dayZ. Hope you enjoyed your time off

MagicMax

Womble, glad you're back, but wouldn't you want to take one extra week of chilling? I for one wouldn't mind that, seeing how hard you work!

Jille van der Bom

A short video sounds like a great idea, although all your videos are of exceptional quality.

Bryce Towle

I'm with the person above. Something shorter would even do, five minutes or so. I don't know that's the best way to do it all the time, but something short, sweet and dense would be nice.

Pharenir

While I see the benefits of you doing some shorter projects for some time I think the amount of effort put into your last video shows that you're doing your job with dedication and it's worth waiting for your releases. Having said that, we're waiting on your DayZ critique 'forever' now and I feel like it's best to have it finally finished and off your table. It won't stay relevant forever (depending on how you do it) and if it really turns irrelevant all of the work you've done will be for naught. Which really would be a shame.

I definitely think longform content is more your wheelhouse, and with the story-and-song progression last video, that remians truer than ever. But I support whatever endeavor you decide to pursue, as it's all been gold so far <3

Where do I sign for this to happen? Look forward to the results, Womble! As otehrs have said though, seeing as the last video was of such exceptional quality, don't feel rushed to get your teeth into another until you're ready.

RollandSosig

I'm liking the sound of the short vid, like a wee taster to keep the bullshittery hunger at bay.

Lithium3595

Love the idea, that guy from Boston provided a lot of hilarious moments for holdfast. Can't wait to see it

Anthony Charles West

i liked the last video, but I agree with you doing a shorter video dude, cant have you being burnt out

Andrew White

good shout on a short video. human fall flat seemed like a good one for easy light relief also? but yeah, keeping it simple sounds right

Bludd

I say if you are passionate about doing a shorty and then a PUBG bullshittery, I'm all for it :)

Martin

One 10-ish minute video would be preferred over two 2-ish minute ones by me, but in the end I‘ll take whatever you feed us 😅

Nicholas Wong

Yes, please! While your recent videos like the ARMA one are brilliant, little tidbits of silliness are always hilarious to watch also! (A lot like your CS:GO videos!) Holdfast sounds like a fantastic game to showcase it. Do feature Digby!

Torstein Olav Eriksen

I think most people would be pleased with shorter content if the content still has the same quality feel to it.

Krilis

Holdfast sounds good

Alexander de Roy

I think the better way now would be going back to shorter vids, but posted more often. This will keep up the heat and constant hunger for more.

docmanda

Short and silly sounds good and you can maybe catch a bit more of a breather after the last two monster projects

Bleakz

sounds good

Tali

Welcome back from your break! I think a short video would be nice and a relatively unknown game like Holdfast would break it up really well, I must say though I'm incredibly excited about the DayZ essay as well but seeing how that is more time intensive maybe doing a shorter video before that is smarter.

MikeBurnFire

I'm eagerly anticipating the full DayZ video essay! I know it's gonna be great! I know almost nothing about the game, but the story you're telling is captivating. I know it's a lot of work though, so I can be patient!

Afatag

I'd love to see you do some stuff with Holdfast

Max

Sounds like a smart idea since you'll be able to incorporate more diversity to your channel and you may possibly find a new video format that you would like to continue uploading on the regular. Good luck with the editing Soviet :D

Azrael

You could use this idea for the footage you have on the freezer, the ones you know won't be played again. Quick, easy and short gag videos for shits and giggles. You could use the overwatch footage too. I know it was burned by a person but I for one would love to see your eye for humor on a video of that game.
