Good evening folks. Another update on Random CSGO Bullshittery (part 9). Apart from a couple of latter distractions/whoopsies, everything is going fine here:

Monday - Thursday:

So the text and animation work is currently underway. The standard 'moving stuff to Adobe After Effects and keyframing' job. I've managed to complete about 4 minutes of 10 with the rest underway.

A screenshot of the current timeline:

Minutes 7 to 9 have intentionally been left empty so I can mix and match clips whilst the humour is still fresh to my eyes. An editing habit I've picked up. As after watching the whole thing 30-40 times, I often worry about bits being not funny. And worried me quickly turns into "cut everything" me

Granted I can only do this trick when the video is purely a clip compilation with no overarching structure (like Antistasi for example). But I think it works out. A sort of staggered cutting phase.

This week the plan is to fill in those gaps and continue keyframing the second half.

Friday:

Mind you I did end up getting somewhat distracted at the end of last week.

I found myself extremely enthused and full of ideas when it came to the writing of a potential future video-essay piece on The Isle, a dinosaur-based survival game. And figured it was better to strike whilst the iron was hot and get all of my ideas jotted down.

Specifically I was looking at how The Isle approaches the "classic" survival template, and despite using 90% of ideas we've seen before, it is able to create something interesting that has a lot of potential if imported into other games. Something not related to dinosaurs.

That creative momentum continued through Saturday and Sunday and now a draft is in pretty good shape.  A little pre-production on an alternate project.

Monday (today):

Alas, the start to this week was a total headache. As over the weekend I was trying to troubleshoot some problems with my brothers PC -  he has a component that's not working properly. This meant that I was taking pieces out of my older storage PC to figure out (through a process of elimination) what his problem was.

And first thing Monday morning my storage PC failed to properly boot. Meaning I must have installed a component improperly. And annoyingly, it was the PC with the CSGO footage on it.

"Piece of cake", I thought. "I'd just take out that hard drive, slap it into my main PC and continue as normal. I'll fix this later in my free time".

Did that. And then my main PC wouldn't boot. My reaction:

So after a lot of wire-pulling, swearing and coffee, I've fixed it. Took all afternoon and I hate computers and now I want a nap.

The most bizarre part, most people experience hard drive failure at some point. Today I've experienced the complete opposite - I have two additional hard drives from sources unknown.

One is probably from some cannibalised machine. But the other is a brand-new 2TB drive. One that I have no recollection of purchasing. I have no explanation for this.

Is there a tooth fairy but for hard drives or are my storage devices having babies?

Today has been annoyingly unproductive and very strange.

The important question is: What's in the hard drive?

Mr_Freem4n

Hard drives babies? Do they have more storage or less than the parent drives?

Cohav0310

Could be worse. My younger brothers gpu destroyed itself at one point.

The Ferret

Sympathies on the computer issues but definitely interested in another video essay series.

When a hard drive boy and a hard drive girl love each other very much... they make the Womble drunk and make him order more hard drives online. Probably. And we know that your muse is a fickle beast, you should follow what it demands. So getting distracted to write the script is excusable ^^

Themobilegoku

Here's a business idea, since you've got 3 PC's right about now, why not keep the GPU's close to each other and give them some privacy? You could pump out GPUs quicker than nvidia and amd at any stretch, going by the last few months. LOL

On the topic of survival games, im really, really keen to see how you (and the zf boys) find Valheim! Ive dropped WAY too much time into it lately. Its damn good with a crew!

NightRaven

May I ask, was the issue that the hard drive causing trouble had windows installed? so it was trying to be a boot drive maybe?

Kurt Schlegel

womble! how much dosh does a man gotta dish out for you to play more horror games and post 'em?

My main question about this would be mainly about the idea of The Isle video essay. Are you looking into also covering the countless fuck-ups surrounding the The Isle and the development team? My main concern about this is that every time a major content creator creates some content about TI, or starts streaming it, there is an influx of new players that buy into the game, expecting a game, and they find themselves at a complete loss of features, playing a game the devs abandoned years ago, on pay2win servers with admins on insane power trips. I'm myself a somewhat active player and closely in a community around one of the less horrible servers around, but every time I see one of these influxes I see myself regretting that the development team is still allowed to pretend to operate with next to no results to show over 2 years now. So each time I see more content in the works to be created, I wonder if the creator will also mention what a horrible dumpster fire the game currently is.

I'm sorry about all the trouble your computer gave you. I can understand not wanting to work after all that lol. I wish my hard drives would have babies. While I have 4 hard drives, I want more :p

A man wakes up one day only to find a brand new 2TB hard drive in his home. He is amazed at this amazing good fortune. He marvels at all the streams he could store on there. Happily, he works the entire day and goes to bed. The next day however, he finds his coffee maker replaced by another brand-new 2TB hard drive! Well this is rather silly, someone surely is pulling a prank on me, the man thinks. But he is puzzled, because he had no visitors the previous day. The next day, he finds his entire kitchen replaced by brand new 2TB hard drives! The man sobs. what is going on? He tries to call the police, only to find his phone replaced by a brand new 2TB hard drive! He wants to go to the store to replace his stuff, but his car is replaced by a brand new 2TB hard drive! He screams! before his very eyes, his hands morph into brand new 2TB hard drives! He runs to the mirror... just in time to see himself fade into a new 2TB hard drive... Days later, concerned friends break into the man's home after he has not been heard from for days. They find the entire home completely normal. Only on the bathroom floor do they find.. a brand new 2TB hard drive...

As an IT person I've had that problem. "Where the fuck did this HDD/SSD/Flash drive come from?!!?" I guess that happens with my job though.

Curtis lee

Curiously. How does womble earn most of his income? He doesn’t earn much from YouTube. And a bit from patron, plus do you have to be to know him to play certain games with him ?

FriesingCold

Im fully aware that what I’m asking for might be a terrible idea, BUT, Valheim could be perfect for ZFclan! Pure chaos, PVP, and difficult bosses/enemies. Also can’t wait for next stream that I can watch!
